I had that before, double check you don't have a double number in the same block. Also from another computer do a google search for suduko nine by nine, you can fill in the original numbers and it will solve the puzzle for you.

Once you are 100% sure you have the right numbers double check your game inputs. I hand on solved the suduko and thohught I was right, the suduko solver was much better than my hands on logic.

Once the numbers are correct it will go to the next step, other wize it just sits there waiting for you to correct the error in the puzzle.
Oh the fun of restarting x3tc all over again!

Screenshot, we can easily tell you if you accidentally haven't completed the sudoku. It's hard to see your own mistakes with these things, I can stare and stare and not see my own.

Nice walkthrough. Info: (TC v3.0 - may not be relevant - could have been same in prev.):

1) When I picked up the 91 'passengers' from the trading station. Cargo hold listed no passengers at all, but followed mission guidance, and successfully delivered all 91 'ghost' refugees, with no hit on the mission. Yes, I did make sure there were enough cargo space for them, but zero passengers taken on board, regardless, mission still succeeded. :?

2) I really, really, really, am not a hacking, cypher, sudoku person. So when it came to the cpu hacking, I screamed when I got the cypering window, and though I gave it 6 hours did not manage the hack. So, for anyone else who may be numerically challenged, like myself (numerically dyslexic), and would like to avoid a fearsomly horrible brain-burnout then follow this link to a nice Sudoku Solver page.... you will thank me for it.

Tip: Save your game while the cpu ship's cypher firewall dialogue box is open, (shift S) write down the numbers, and solve the cypher on the link above, when you load up the saved game the puzzle is still there waiting, with the same numbers, and you now have the solution.
edit: new link to sudoku page (previous one no longer worked)

randomly guessing numbers during the code cracking because I have the mathematic brainpower of a dried out pea. I used a solver for that damnable sudoku. Don't EVER put stupid puzzles like this in a game! Seriously! What the hell were you thinking?!?

Then I had to spend half my money on getting the info out of that ungrateful teladi, but, hey, it'd get me a sector of my own!
So I forked up, went to this scribe fellow and found out I needed to pay a gazillion more credits. At this point my already raging head exploded.

I was fed up enough that I cheated the amount of credits, payed that schmuck of a paranid, only to find out that the sector you get is in the middle of bloody nowhere, tucked away in the farthest corner you can find, behind a whole bunch of split, who I disgust, and an unknown sector inbetween, just to make the travelling even longer.
I have been civilised in this post, but really, the creator(s) of this plot should know what I'd like to do with them. Not civilised things, I can tell you that. Burning metal rods are involved. And salt.
My boron friends just came back from a planet where the dominant lifeform had no bilateral symmetry, and all I got was this stupid F-Shirt.

Check the double letters. X3 doesn't handle them very well, if you're typing in text and hit a key twice in rapid sucession it ignores the second stroke.

As for the codebreaking; there's plenty of walkthroughs.

And I thought my PC was too slow for the game to catch my fast typing and process everything else at the same time.

A fix for this would be VERY nice.

I appreciate everyone's attempt to help, but I have made sure I am in comms range, I've read the entire walkthrough and have also typed in the code EXACTLY as it is supposed to be. This is why I am so frustrated. Does anyone else have any suggestions as to what else could be wrong?

Thanks!

okay, so I tried again tonight and it worked the first time. WTF?? I don't know what I was doing wrong the last two days, but I'm just glad it worked. Thanks to everyone who tried to help!

Have you tried loading a save prior to entering the sector ?
Who knows, it might help.

You are not the first person to report a problem with a plotline; and this one is the worst offender. In fact, you're not the first person to report this problem with the ANH plotline; I think you're the third.

The problem seems to be that when under high workloads, it seems that the game can fail to load a trigger correctly. It isn't a reproducible error, that's for sure, and the devs aren't looking at it, meaning we're left to restart the mission when we get hit by the problem. For this section of the ANH plotline, this makes quite a difference as there's such a long sequence of things to do.

I also have an issue on this plot...

I'm in Aldrin looking for the Boron. But I've been to every station and no blue book/etc anywhere.

The walkthrough mentioned trans orbital accelerators... there aren't any in my Aldrin, is that from the Aldrin plot or something?

I'm running an unmodded game, about 30 days fly time, Terran and Goner plots done, on the crystals stage of the HUB, but no other plots active or done.

Help?

Looking for the boron was a fluke for me - I did find a 'blue book station' in aldrin, but it just had a charecter saying he never heard of borons, and to go look at another station - and I can't recall if the other station was also a blue book station, or just plain unmarked... but that was where I finally found the boron.

If you are talking about the plot 'A new home' then iirc no trans-orbital accelerators are involved, so don't waste your time looking for them. I think they are part of the Aldrin Plot (which we don't get until 'OFF' is completed - I think).

update - Reloaded before rescuing the ppl from FR.

Still no Book/Boron in Aldrin.

There's only one shipyard in aldrin as far as I can see...

Should I break from plot here and try and do the aldrin plot first? or reload before starting ANH and do aldrin maybe? *grumble*

There are 2 SY in Aldrin, map the sector (best do it OOS using fast and multiple ships). The book is probably in the other one.

Say hi to Murphy

I had a mamba exploring aldrin for a couple of days.... didn't find the other SY... is it somewhere away from the ring of stations around the asteriod? or is there a map of aldrin someplace so I can just go look there?

Ah.. yes... well.. Found the 2nd shipyard... It was the one under the Nav beacon thingy.

And ofc it has the book.

I feel like a tard now since I thought my explorer would have found this, does explorer software only explore on the x,y plane? Maybe I didn't set the range high enough.. whatever, it's found now.

Thanks.

Oh, not sure on the "done thing" around here wrt double posting, is it better to edit or post again?

Edit.

And the scoutships only explore the X-Z plane on a given Y co-ordinate. This means that stations further from the ecliptic than about 80% of the scout ship's scan range have an unacceptably high probability of being missed by the sensors, particularly for OOS scouting in high SETA.
