Thanks, I see your point. I am just comparing them on paper and I don't know much about the Terran stuff yet (saving that plot for later). I guess all the laser generators in the world can't help if you can't put the big guns on the other end of it.

I think some nerfings are good and some are bad. A good example was the Nova back in X3:R. The Sentinel variant had 4X25Mj shields but was slow (as it should have been), then they reduced it to 3X25Mj which made it worse in every regard to Vanilla Nova and pretty much useless. The Nova Raider was another story, it was a little two easy with 3X25Mj and the rear turret so dropping it down to 2X25Mj was justifiable IMO. Now I think the Nova's in X3:TC are just right considering the M3+ variants out there. Anyway, since the Boreas is mainly a ship used by the player, (only seen two NPCs: one patrolling Legend's Home and the other in Aladna Hill, never spawned in a assassination mission for me) I hope they don't mess with it two much and make it to where it's not fun anymore.

i think the terrans should be all powerful but really expensive...

as they are a much older race.

doesnt the story from X:BTF say they invented the gates, and explored before the xenon got bored and blew everything up?
then they was stuck on earth for 500 years?

it never mentions that terrans bumped into any other race on there journey, so in theory, the the other races wasnt as advanced as the terrans when the terrans ruled the galaxy :P

and being 500 years ahead in technology is similar to us waging war now, vs people from the 1500s with bows and arrows, n swords...

we'd only need 1 Apache Gunship, and plenty of ammo. lol

erm... no.
They created their own gate which locked onto the current, already existing, gate network.
They destroyed their own gate to protect themselves against the terraformers.
edit: the terrans never ruled the galaxy and they've been cut of for a millenia (1000 years)

I've already done that and probably have enough Blastclaw Prototypes to defend them too :)

i'm sure the BTF intro said they spread throughout the known galaxy until the terraformers turned on them, with no mention of other races.
just saying, in either case, the terrans were out there 1st, 1000 years before the events of X:BTF, meaning in theory they're 1000 years ahead of the other races, with the exception of terraformers, and argon, which basically use terran technology anyway, just evolved differently.

but then in theory, the Xenon/Terraformers would be equally if not more advanced, then the Terrans.
woulda been quite a cool story twist, that the xenon and terrans are both super powerful compared to everyone else, and terrans are protectors of the galaxy, while the xenon want to destroy it... and each time the xenon attack, the terrans defend, sorta like a battle of the gods... lol

With regards to the backstory, mad_axeman is almost right. Earth built two gates and started to move one to out nearest star (Alpha Centauri). However, the first gate started locked on to Something else and Earth eventually realised these were gates and started exploring. The Ancients, who built the gate network originally, re-arranged the links between gates to create two closed networks, one with Earth in all on it's own and the other with all the other races in. It was this second group that Brennan jumped into the middle of in the X-Shuttle. How Nathan R Gunn got there in the first place I'm not quite sure...

Another gate rearrangement. Once Nathan Gunne destroyed the gate to Earth there was no need to keep the X races isolated from the Terrans anymore, so the Ancients rearranged things again. Note that the Argon didn't encounter any alien races until many years after establishing their civilisation!

It's a bit like "Who are the Shivans?"... we don't really know. Really, we should probably never find out, either.
Spoiler
Show
Though rumour did come through [V] that Shivans were actually the guardians of subspace, come to stop the Vasudans and Terrans tearing a hole in the universe.
But that's for off-topic :)

Hmm, maybe spaceweed helps one think outside the sector.

Two more weeks until they finally get rid of that silly make-a-million-a-minute stationbuilder silliness. Thank goodness.

The game will be...

... much better....

just a sec, I've got to get a couple of stations built for some fat loot here...

...

OK, sorry about that. The game will be MUCH better without that exploit!
