Is there a way to disable the can't comm while in combat thing? As soon as it picks up some hostile mass traffic the comm becomes unusable which makes it just as annoying as walking in stations.

Roll back to an old version?

Download the config utility and set the combat distance to 0m.

LOL looked at the config utility screen shot with the covered field so didn't notice it had that option hahaha what a newbie. :headbang:

Thank you so much for this mod! I just wanted to shamelessly bump it back onto page 1 so more people can see it, as I think it's the best mod for my play-style so far and more people should be able to avoid the horrible station walking fiasco.

Thanks again :)

MJ, awesome mod thank you so much for your effort and skill.

I have been spending hours inside stations waiting for small talk to trigger to enable me to see skills of NPC's and your excellent mod does just that.

I'm currently on release 1.18 and mod so far is fine, thanks again great job.

Yup, those errors are normal for now in patched MD scripts. Nothing I can do about it.

I'm having a problem making nesa work. I have it in Extensions, and it says it's turned on. I did start a new game. I select Universe, but Option 3 does not show; only the standard 1, 2 and 6.

I'm not very techie, and was quite proud of myself with installing nesa, but now I feel like a dummy.

Ok good to know that the msgs are a kind of a hoax.
I was wondering because I have had the same problem with my own MD scriptings. Never mind then. Thank You.

Does it say "Installing NESA V0.9.0..." when you start a new game?

No, it does not say it's loading.
I can tell you this though, my old saved game won't load now. If I remove nesa, will my old game be available or is it lost for good?

NESA is safe to remove, so it shouldn't affect your savegame once you remove it.

But about your issues:

1) The NESA folder is placed inside the Steam\steamapps\common\X Rebirth\extensions directory, so that it looks like this Steam\steamapps\common\X Rebirth\extensions\NESA\content.xml?
2) In the main menu, when you click on Extensions, does it show NESA as installed and active?

Yes, as I said, NESA is listed in Extensions, and yes it is ON.

Okay, I just started both a new free game and a new campaign game with patch 1.19 and it worked just fine. Can you please check if the file Steam\steamapps\common\X Rebirth\extensions\NESA\md\NESA.xml exists? If that is the case, then I really don't know how to help you, sorry.

Well, there are no subfolders in NESA. All there is are 18 xml files and a readme. Don't know what else is supposed to be there.

Well, then we have found the issue. Have you installed NESA via the Nexus Mod Manager? If so, it is probably buggy.

In any case, please re-download the NESA archive, and extract it to the extensions folder again. Then the file structure should hopefully match. Alternatively, bring the files to their correct location manually. It should look like this:

Code: Select all

NESA/content.xml
NESA/README.txt
NESA/md/NESA.xml
NESA/md/NESA_Config.xml
NESA/md/NPC_Architect.xml
NESA/md/NPC_Engineer.xml
NESA/md/NPC_Itemtrader.xml
NESA/md/NPC_Marine.xml
NESA/md/NPC_Specialist.xml
NESA/md/NPC_Staff.xml
NESA/md/NPC_Upgradetrader.xml
NESA/t/0001-L007.xml
NESA/t/0001-L033.xml
NESA/t/0001-L034.xml
NESA/t/0001-L039.xml
NESA/t/0001-L044.xml
NESA/t/0001-L049.xml
NESA/t/0001-L086.xml
NESA/t/0001-L088.xml
With this NESA should work for you.

It is not giving me the /md part. Everything is NESA/. If I recall dos commands correctly, /md indicates a subfolder. I manually created a subfolder and moved the /md files into it. It still doesn't work.

Why am I not getting the /md part?

Sorry, but I can't explain it more simply than I did, and if you really put all of the files that belong in the md folder in there, then I have no idea why NESA is not working for you.

The only thing I can do for you is to post some screenshots of the folder structure. You can find them here, here, and here.

That did the trick!!!!!

Only 1 question... where did the 't' directory come from? I saw no reference to it anywhere. Maybe I didn't read closely enough, I don't know. Once I created that, NESA worked. For some reason, unzipping didn't create the subdirectories. Was I using the correct download?

Anyway, thanks a ton for your help and patience. You've extended my trial period for Rebirth, I was about to dump it.

Any possibility Egosoft will incorporate NESA into the core game?
Maybe I'll start a petition.
