AI accuracy and firing rate is insane now. I'm getting killed by single Khaark clusters where every scout hits me simultaneous and I can't avoid any of their lasers.

The fun has left the game because now combat is overemphasized and it's almost impossible combat at that. The bad part about this is because you die very easily and often and the long loading times just ruin the entire game because instead of loading, I just get fed up and turn off the computer.

I don't see what all the moaning is about. My factories are fine and i've been playing the new patch for almost 3 hours. Only 1 CTD but im not bothered. I did a XIM and everyone joined in pirate, xeon and Khaak, they destroy 2 NPC stations before i was able to clean up the sector with my titan.

Brilliant egosoft. We now have a reason for having large fleets and it is now worth getting those lovely big cap ships. :D
Of all the things i've lost. I miss my mind the most.

My small two cents worth...been playing 1.3 for about 3 hours now. I don't have any factories as of yet, and only 2 UT's. Around 5.5 million credits. Have only encountered a few sporadic pirate ships. Nothing currently unmanageable. My only problem so far is that I simply cannot find any stations that have tuning kits, rudder ops, or cargo extentions for sale. As soon as I dock, the stock goes to zero. If I undock and target the station for details, the stock is back. Very frustrating for they don't seem to want to sell them to only me. Thanks for listening.

Right then.

After playing for a long time (18+ days game time on Normal), I have a few stories after this release.

Weapons complex in Elana's Fortune - Dragon and Centaur Patrol accompanied by 2 busters with scattered lasertowers. All quiet. A couple of pirate falcons passing through - dispatched OOS. Business as usual.

Unknown Sector between Montelaar/New Income. I have 5 factories and a large weapons hub with an Equipment Dock for sorting my ships out. 2 Nemesis, 2 Centaur, 1 Dragon, 1 Hercules and 10 Ls patrolling. They are insanely busy. I have a consant stream of pirate buzzards, falcons and heavily armed novas pouring through the east gate. I put 10 lasertowers all round the gate to help cull, but they lasted less than 5 minutes. I tried a Nemisis, Hydra and 2 Nova sentinal raid into New Income to try and stem the flood, and only the Hydra survived, as I arrived in my Mamba to help prevent a slaughter. 3 Xenon Ps and a host of Ls were fighting with prirate Novas and Falcons with the Teladi defence half heartedly joining in and it was a serious mess. Lots of Ion Ds doing most of the wrecking. I blasted through to Ianamus Zura, to be confronted by a savage sea of red.

Getsu Fune - another weapon complex. A new addition to my empire and had only a Dragon and 2 maxed out Novas and my Elephant. They are putting up some amazing resistance to the nightmare that has enveloped them. Xenon are flooding out of the North Western sectors and pages of red fill M Paradise and Bluish Snout. I need to get them some help as I have retreated them to Getsu Fune itself, where the Xenon seem to be restricted to 1 page of Ls for now!

I have spent most of my remaining credits getting another couple of centaurs to help the eastern front, which is filled with crates, astronauts, abandonded ships, enemy fighters and fuelled up pirates.

My trading in the east has completed stopped, with destryoed freighters reported all over the place. 40% were destroyed before I could get them back to the relative safety of their home bases. My UTs (around 15) are still trading, but only just. I maxxed their shields on purchase which I am very grateful for now, as they are taking a pummelling as I can't stop them making insane decisions.

Xenon 347 has now been repopulateed after I cleaned it out. The base has returned and the red pages are back. No destroyers, just a load of Ls and Ms flocking round the 5 or so Ps. I have been cut off from other outposts in Black Hole Sun and Omnicron Lyrae. Little fighter support for these fabs, so what remains are holed up in the stations. At least the Argon defence forces are taking on the pirates, unlike the Teladi forces in the sectors mentioned above. They are engaging the Xenon, but leaving the hooligans.

All in all, a shock to the system. I suddenly am grateful I spent credits on getting shiny armed ships, not just factories and freighters. The Xenon Ls I capped in my first Xenon 347 extermination are a revelation and seem more effective than the M6s in taking out the hunderds of pirates billowing through my Unknown Sector.

When I had a moment, it seems that my areas of influence seem to coincide with the largest appearance of pirate and Xenon activity. Other areas seem less affected than the craziness which has affected these regions. I hope that my fleet can hold out, and although the Unknow Sector forces seem capable of defending, I need to do some serious killing to open up any kind of trade route East. My mamba is crocked and I am now smacking people up in a Nova sentinal which I am liking a lot now. Getsu Fune should hold out as the Argon forces there are pitching in

Casualties:
10/15 freighters destroyed
5 Busters on patrol destroyed.
5 Buzzards gone
1 Nemesis
1 Centaur
4 Novas
Handful of Falcons - unsure of how many I had in first place.
most in-space m5s all gone
Lots of nav sats. Many sectors are now dark.

Lots of ships in shipyards to the west.

Surpirisingly no Xenon L casualties! They are the dogs nadgers. If things ever calm down, I am off into 347 to get some more...

Jeez, i was expecting a perfomace increase and a few bugfixes...

I love the patch so far although the Xenon are too numerous now. I went to Zrts domain I think, the Split system far NE next to an unknown and a xenon sector. I had my Nova Vanguard with 2 AHEPTs.

Close by the south gate it was like being inside the Xenon sector. I killed BUCKETS of N, M, L and even a P. I went from the Split rank under guardian like 60% to the next Split Guardian 3% in notime. They just kept coming at insane speed. This is a bit over the edge not being able to clear the sector.

Bug possibly: I saw a BBS info about "Khaak ships moving towards 0"? Where is 0? Guessing that is bugged somehow.

Also, I get the station icons flashing if overlapped in cockpit view, like if they are behind me they bunch up by the screen edges and they flash a bit if too close too eachother.

Really good patch, just need to tweak the enemies down a bit again, something in between. :)

Already lots of example why this path "beep".

An example from owne game:

No pirates ever in Kingdom end and now I have 3 x M2 khaak destroyer etc and killing station up there  Tried go up there with 5 Centaur and we all died within 10 sec. Dunno what kind of rebalance this is? If it should have been rebalance I would liked more pirates yes, as you are able to kill theres station too. This way you could get them in waves every half hour or hour and still leave time to take care about you traders and station depends how you play.

Tanks Egosoft for the patch.

FRS is much bether and I was wondering why it was caled extrem difficulty lvl. Now there is more action! But iI encounter a few frustration wile playing;

-I have place a Split Dragon whit an escorte of 4 mamba, 6 scorpion, 7 (wolf ) and he was taken down in less than a minute by 4 xenon N and a xenon M...

-I tryed to take down a pirate base whit 3 m6 and a buch of m3 ; loss almost all of them because of colision ! I reloaded of course...
Salut!

Hi all,

Just a quick question, it is probably been anwsered before, but it is hard to find anything here. I restarted after the release of 1.3 and have made about 1.8m credits doing both trading and capping. High time for a factory, I might say, but I can't seem to be able to hire a TL.

Half the time the TL simply isn't present in Argon prime, and when he is, I can't hire him (don't have the option when I raise comms). Is there some rank that I need to gain before I can hire him, that I didn't notice in 1.2?

Cheers!

Ok I played some more, this is no more just a re-balancing they just enabled the suicide diffculty level.

There is just no way to build any sort of an empire without Massive Defence. I'm talking 20-50 ships per sector to start.

To me the level of AI balancing should be enabled along with your trading/fighting rank. This xtreme level is just to ridiculous now and feel as if the Eggheads are cheating us now.

There are three things we can do to fix this flawed patch.

1. Go back to 1.2.01 untill you have 100 Billion Credits stored in your many fabs and some 2000 ships M1/M2/M6 and have all M6's replacing your TP's. Then enable the xtreme level, I mean patch to 1.3.

2. Script yourself in 100 Billion Credits to fix the re-balance of the game now and play 1.3.

3. Shelve the game until some sort of sanity comes back to Ego.

I agree that the AI needed a rebalance but again not to this insane level. Well not until you get the rank of xtreme anyway.

I just don't know what to say other than that.

So it's just me that's NOT having a ridiculous time with pirates/xenon then?

I almost didn't patch my x-treme game (which was about 12 hours old) because of the comments on here. I'm glad I decided to give it a try!

At first there was more activity, but it quickly settled down. In fact, I had to abandon my fighter because my plan of capping my way to my first factory ran into a serious lack of pirates without stepping out way into the borders. I wonder if perhaps it works like this:

1. Level of activity is related to the size of your empire (I noticed a sudden blip in activity when I bought my first trader...might have been coincidence)

2. The patch dumps the extra enemies on immediately, but takes time to regenerate the friendly ships players report disappearing from longer games.

What this would mean for anyone applying the patch with a huge empire already in place is a MASSIVE initial invasion which will seem even worse because there aren't enough friendly ships to help out, either directly or by acting as cannon fodder. Depending on how they respawn the friendly ships there might be a problem here...namely they get picked off before they can regenerate to the sort of levels you'd expect from a new game played to that point.

IF this is correct, then frankly it sounds like a good thing, for the new starters at least. The problem with this game (I suspect) and X2 previously is that the difficulty didn't scale. Once you had a few factories and UTs in place, the money was rolling in faster than you could spend it and there was absolutely no challenge left. I like the idea that now as your empire grows, so does the amount you have to spend on maintaining it. Having hundreds of factories in place safely is now an achievement rather than just a question of simple gametime.

BTW, I wonder if people are suffering so badly because they feel like they HAVE to defend every trader and factory? In a large empire, you cannot win every battle. Or at least you shouldn't be able to!

I only had about an hour or so to play last night with the new patch.

I have a huge empire of factory complexs and transports, a handful of UT's, and maybe 10 defense ships, couple M6's, 5 M3's and some M4 escorts.

I got hit hard immediately after the patch: My weapons complex in Getsu Fune and a smaller complex in Bluish Snout, Half of my transports were killed by incoming Xenon. It was kinda fun trying to respond to get the surviving transports out while I ordered my defense ships to jump in. I killed them and they kept coming, so finally I just backed off and they did their little migration and stopped shortly after. In about 2-3 other sectors, I lost another 6-10 transports from pirates I think. They are much more agrressive and numerous now. The attacks come so fast and I can only respond personally in one sector at a time, it was a little frustrating. I just started ordering transports to dock while I build up some defenses.

Those like me who had big station empires but not alot to defend it will be in trouble for sure. A handful of lasertowers are just about useless as well. I dont have enough cash for a M1 or M2 yet. Hopefully I can keep my empire together long enough to save up. I spent most of my free cash on buying some M6's and tyring to get them equipped.

I think Egosoft did a good job with the graphics, the FPS especially SETA is much improved. There still alot of lag in combat, but overall its a much smoother experience. I never had many CTD's so I cant comment on that.

1.3, is far from perfect, but its what they SHOULD have released when they went gold.

I dont want to start over though, ive got way too much work in my current empire. Besides, its fun to try to hold it together against the onslaught!
Those who give up freedom for security deserve neither.

To add to my essay earlier, I have actually had a great time fighting fires with this patch. Things have calmed down a lot since the insanity began. The other good thing about it has been the ability to up my ranking quicker as I was beginning to think that I would play for nearly 3 weeks game time and still not have enough rep to buy an M1/M2.

There are still lots more pirates and the Xenon are quite nomadic now. I have had to really quickly try and reorganise and it has been quite a rewarding challenge. I don't mind getting owned now and again  . I haven't had to deal with a loony Kha'ak destroyer in my own sector yet, for which it sounds like I should be grateful. Whatever happens from now on, I certainly know what ships I can count on and which are kak. I certainly don't think I will have much need for Boron ships from now on  , although to be fair, my wingman Hydra did a good job until he too finally succumbed in the battle for New Income.

PS - capping has been no better or worse for me with 1.3... I even managed a few caps whilst pummelling pirates in a Nemesis.

I still recommend, lasertowers if you use the "upgrade script." from scripts section which adds 125MJ shields, its not a cheat they're supposed to use those. I have placed over 30 lasertowers, near a gate where i get the baddies. They get vaporized before they can even do damage. If its a bigger group, i'll go in too :P. But the invasions are starting cease.

all hail family rhonkar.
