Not so. S fighters are small, agile, difficult for stationary targets to shoot down unless coming straight at it. If you have the skill to avoid incoming fire, you can survive assaulting a station or a cap ship in an S fighter and there's nothing wrong with that.

I agree. Weapon ranges over 20km fix this nicely.

you can mod your game to do that but I can guarantee that's going to do nothing but break your game. Pretty sure you will find that you are the only pilot in the game that can fly any S or M class ship near an opposing station/cap ship. The AI will not be able to compensate for that.

Combat rebalancing hasnt been exclicitly asked by the caster and could very well go under "constant improvements". Theres however nothing wrong with a small player-controlled ship taking out a cap in general. It was one of the fun elements in Rebirth as well as in almost any other space game I can think of.

The amount of things improved is really massive and I'm impatiently looking forward to release.

Spaceman Sublime wrote: Fri, 23. Aug 19, 15:35 So no combat rebalance? A single fighter can still single handedly take down a capital, and just a small fighter squad can still take an entire sector unopposed? Dissapointing really.... I want this game to be good, but it cannot be when one of its 4 fundamental pillars does not function properly..... a sad day indeed.
You piloting a small fighter and taking on an entire sector is one thing, the AI piloting a small fighter and taking on a sector is another. Yes, you can find an undefended corner, go hide in it, place a brick on the space bar and come back later to find your target destroyed. The AI doesn't behave in that way. If you're looking for a way for the AI to prevent you from doing that, it's doubtful that will happen. Players have been doing this in just about every space combat game that ever existed. X-Wing/TIE Fighter? Get close to cap ships and blast. Descent: Free Space and Free Space 2? Get close to cap ships and blast. Any X game? the list goes on an on. Unless the station/ship turrets fire through their own modules with a full 360 degree targeting axis/rotation, IE, the the projectiles don't clip with it's parent station/ship, you will always be able to do this. And the second that happens, people will be complaining that the turrets are doing that and it's BS.
Unfortunately this is applicable to the AI as well, but in a different manner. I'll open a more detailed thread later to keep this one in track, but in short, turrets that only do a fraction of fixed weapon damage and cannot properly track and hit their target, combined with shields that do not regen while a target is under fire, creates a nightmare scenario where the small and nimble fighter can take down larger targets with no threat to its well-being. Similar can be said of the efficiency of all large ships. If you want the game balance to be this way then fine, but then prices should change so that carriers, destroyers, and super freighters are the cheapest ships, and small fighters and couriers are the most expensive.

Again, I say all of this in the hopes that X4 becomes the best possible single player space sim one could get. I want people to see X4 as THE space sim. If multiplayer is not of concern, X4 should be the first game that comes to mind. It should be a staple of the genre. It should be the game you get if you want a single player space sim. I love this series, and I want to see it flourish. But please, you must must must address items properly to make that happen.

The methods in ai orders compensate well. It would be an issue if weapon range was larger than gravidar range or the zone. The grav range is 40km and the zone is 50km. With much higher lifetime and speed no small or medium ship can get close to a larger ship without being part of some fleet.

I think the biggest is economy fixes and indestructible stations
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

All i want to know is those that got the collectors edition do we get all dlc that comes out or just 2 dlc. As i only bought it in hopes that it would mean i get all dlc that costs included in my x4 game so id never pay more later.

Like a goty edition.

If i dont get say a 3rd dlc free i will be dissapointed, sure it said 2dlc but i mean come on we all thought boron would be in that and thats kinda what i paid the extra for to have all past races back in even tho i payed full price and should have been in from day 1 as 40 quid is a aaa price and we got half a game. Then they asked for 20 more for collectors edition which i took to mean any dlc that comes is what u get if u get that. It stated the first 2 and its thought to be any future that comes that hasnt been decided yet.

Same here. Balance, bugfixes, mid/late game goals/challenges are priority for me. I don't really want casual "new" stuff that don't add much to a longer gameplay.

I wonder if DLC2 will be Terrans. Love those guys. Sleek ships that are well balanced but kick ass in combat better than anyone else. (As an Earthling I may be a bit biased). We are getting more story with this update, so maybe more with the next. We know the HQ is Terran in design and it and the asteroid in its middle have something to do with spacetime manipulation. Maybe it'll rip open a connection back to the Sol system! Oh man am I hopeful for that!

I dunno where you got those hopes from, since what's included in collector's been stated from the start: two DLCs. You never know though, could be the two would in the end turn out to be "all" ;)

I know people really want the Boron back in the game, but... they never confirmed it. We bought the CE based on unknowns, and it's unknowns we get.

Yeh, well, I'm sorry to say this but: you can start to feel disappointed.

It was clearly stated that CE included 2 dlcs.

As to why you would like to receive a 3rd dlc for free, that boggles me... :gruebel:
