Yes this is very annoying.
I mean i wouldn't mind if some pirate-faction would come and try to destroy you or your stations in the mid-late-game for a reason.
(i actually would love this)
But if most enemy-ships just go directly for you it's just immersion-breaking in a big way. :(

I hope in the future enemy dont just spawn out of nowhere but instead come from a base and have to get to you first.
Or do meaningful stuff (attacking miners/transports/stations or defend their illegal mining-operations... stuff like that).
That would be so much better and would make the universe feel much more alive.
They could also use anomalies which would give those a meaning too...

Keep reds in certain sectors, not everywhere. It spoils the game.

I don't recall this issue in 2.0, but perhaps I was continuing an older game so wasn't quite so alone and feeling victimised by the Xenon and Kha'ak. All I can say is that it feels like a markedly different experience in 2.5.

2.5 appears to have some great changes and additions, but this "we're gonna get you" update is pretty harsh. In my first couple of game starts (1.0) I really enjoyed exploring, capturing the odd ship (SCA) by baiting them to pirate me, all the while staying in relatively safe sectors. Now ALL sectors I've visited so far (just four of them) appear to have a fairly heavy Xenon and Kha'ak presence. Sure, local forces are sometimes handling them, but they seem to fail at giving chase when said Xenon / Kha'ak chase me.

I've not really played for a while, other than a tiny bit here and there, as I was waiting for 2.5 to drop. It's been a fairly frustrating experience so far, with this issue, AI's shooting up bailed ships, HUGE performance drops (99% GPU at "Low" preset) spoiling things somewhat.

Hopefully, as this thread has gain a little attention with others confirming they share my experience, Egosoft will have a look to see what's changed here.

Good luck, Egosoft has apparently dug in their heels on the issue of the encounters mechanism, as with so many other things

Perhaps it just means we'll gain the ability to teleport our ships instantly to wherever we want? Point to point jumps confirmed?? ;)

Obviously, well to me, that would perhaps be a little silly, so I think it's equally silly that NPC's can do it. I 100% get how Egosoft want to add some "excitement" but that really is VERY relative. I expect a combat focused player in a good ship, or with a small fleet, may well relish this challenge. The new player just started out though? Well, the replies to this thread answer that question.

Considering the focus on realism in X4, with a much improved economy and now magically spawning ships (for the most part) this insta-teleporting really doesn't fit in. At least there are mods to remove this issue for people. I've been a little hesitant to mod, due to the frequency of updates, but I might simply maintain several game instances so I can have both modded, but perhaps slightly older, games and the latest game version for testing.

*sigh*

I was just having a nice one-on-one fight with a SCA Kestrel, no other foes anywhere nearby. Suddenly "pop" and three Xenon are near me...did I miss them coming? Maybe, but however they arrived they made a bee-line for me, ignoring the rest of the sector.

I'm in my capture configured Discoverer, so can't really deal much damage. Got to run away and hope the Kestrel - which I just made bail - is still there when I get back.

That was not my experiance. This is very noticeable.

I have just restarted a new game under 2.5 using the young gun start and as soon as I undocked there is a P and two M's...really really how the hell is someone new who has never played an X game supposed to cope with this?

An elite Vanguard up against a P and 2 M's ??????.

Im gonna start again see if its an RNG thing

Yup RNG...restart and it was HOP vs ARG
Restart...all quite on the western front

Indeed. I spent much of my early-game simply running away rather than doing what I wanted.

I just had another weird one... three Xenon M's chasing me, so I flee to a nearby Phoenix and dock as they close in. I dock, check the map. They're GONE. I assume the Phoenix had destroyed them so I undock...all of a sudden there are three Xenon M's chasing me... they popped in from the edge of radar range. Weird. Perhaps it was three different Xenon M's but it's a little suspect.

Basically, I'm constantly being hassles and cannot just play how I want.

Guys, alongside my main play I've made at least 20 game starts since 2.0 all the way through now (I only missed first four betas of 2.50). In most of them, I was in this "running away" period in early game. Admittedly, some of it was easier early on with certain bug (which was fixed some time ago) preventing some enemies from shooting. But other than that, any encounter enemy warp is always insta-aggro.
Maybe (conjecture) with other fixes of 2.50 there's simply more "free" ships for XEN/KHK this time, so these warps could've increased somewhat. But I couldn't really say I'm feeling the difference.
Although I have to say that in one particular start I made on 2.50 beta 6 (AKA 2.50 release), it was rather peaceful. Although I do tend to travel mode all the time, so I could've just missed a bunch.

There's always a degree of running away early-game as you explore, but it's silly in 2.5.

Just now, I attacked a SCA Marauder Falcon. Within seconds of firing the first shot, I have two KHK Raiding parties appear and make a bee-line for me as well as three (bugged) ARG ships. Everyone heading for ME.

I'm starting to just reload after these events to see if they play out the same each time...yep, seems to so far.

Note: I suspect those "ARG" ships were actually SCA ships, however, while my target was "revealed" as SCA via a scan, when it went hostile to me, so did those other ships but they did not reveal themselves as they usually would when they go hostile. Further testing saw them eventually reveal themselves as they attacked other ships once I landed at a station.
