I did not check them, DX1 and 3 and No mipmaps suppose, I think not since X3 did not need mipmaps and becouse the backgrounds don't change size and the engine should generete them (?), but most of all becouse I had the textures ready from X3 and did not want to recreate them from scratch! :D

I can try making the mipmaps for you :) if we get some confirmation that the engine uses them

I think for backgrounds we can use the dds without mipmaps, mybe it is even better so to force the engine to always use the bigger resolution map. Mipmaps are probably needed when we adress the planets and all those objects that change size when you approach to them.

I do suspect that mipmaps are responsible of some weird things, take for instance the yellow planet in Albion...it is..well..terrible!!! very low resolution of the cloud layer, either is the file too small or the engine uses the "wrong" mipmap, indeed if you look at it from the distance it is ok, but close to it...bleah! :shock:

Version 1.1 added. It does not change the stars of the background, it adds a texture replacement for the yellow planet in Albion. If you like as it is u don't need to download the new version.

Version 1.2 released. I worked on making the textures lighter for performace benefits. It includes the new planet of Albion.

Can you fix the background in the second Solar system(with the big sun).It has compresion artefacts or the skybox is just pixelated due to low quality sourse pictures using in it.

Btw can you upload the high qulity textures.People with more Vram will use it.Thanks! :)

Ok gona see it, I replaced the texture but not proofed in that Sector.

Textures are not small, when I say smal I intend same as vanila or more but not the 16MB I used before

Well..the link in the home is always pointing to the NEXUS where the latest version is given. You mean I should write on the home that it's been updated?

Weird, i open the textures and they dont include any of the clouds.Are they separate?
