I played x-btf in '99 and x-tension and still have more recent re-starts of each on my machine, I love the x-universe, but after so many empires build, sectors conquered, I need a bit of something to make it seem like a purpose, even if it's just icing.
I guess 2 years of open sandbox Eve Online hasn't helped, but in that you were still part of a larger system, and as stated I've got an eye on XTM as that looks really good with it's race specific fabs n such (something I miss from vanilla X deeply) - i knew what fab was what just by looking at it in btf, I had a file full of handwritten info; fabs, needs, prices, routes, a hand drawn universe map - I've been hardcore, full immersion, but now it's the same universe essentially, only the story and surface details have changed, changing the look of a fab and it's prices doesn't mean it's all "new" to explore all over again, so X-universe without story or new shinies to look at, it's same old, same old.
But give me some story and I'm satisfied, basically I'm a "what's new" kinda player now and if there ain't anything "new" even a little bit, i'll move on.

update: ok I've gone back to X101 ejected the black crystal I had which was obviously bugged and blown it up, I'm still getting the audio banter "gift shop/ signposted/ talking to self" stuff so I guess the game still thinks It's at that stage, BUT will it respawn a crystal?
I've left X101, got the pirate woman saying "are you going to try again", and saved it there, I'm going to restart, go back into x101 and see if the game does some sort of taskfinding if/then "plot is at x point, if player not got crystal then spawn crystal".
I'm really hoping someone at egosoft was intelligent enough to put this in rather that a single spawn event after which the game was irreparably bugged. - if they didn't I wont waste my time with the rest of the series. spent too much time trying to sort this as it is to risk more badly developed game issues later on - player loyalty goes only so far in this market of hundreds of games available.

What I do to keep the games interesting is to roleplay and make up self-imposed rules to play by. For the most part, I find the official 'icing' a bit thin and not so tasty, at least up until X3TC, where the plots are more like the Bala Gi missions of Reunion than past storylines. I felt that most of the past storylines were too 'unX-like', i.e., they threw me out of the immersive environment with gameplay that felt like I was playing an arcade game of some sort.
I played EVE off and on over several years, and didn't really consider it a sandbox, since a true sandbox allows you to make up your own stories and rules. An MMO can't do that, since everyone in the game must play by the same rules.
And that's why the vast majority of my gaming has been in the X-Universe for the past 12+ years.

This kind of attitude is unacceptable on these forums. VincentTH was just trying to help, as we all were. Personal insults will not be tolerated on these forums. I suggest you very carefully read the forum rules posted at the top of this forum before replying. Because of your attitude, and because this is a mod issue (which belongs in the Reunion S&M forum), this thread has outlived its usefulness.go back to trolling in wow

After seeing the huge list of mods in your other (now locked) thread, I have to conclude that this also is most likely caused by one or more of those mods. As such, any further questions should be directed to the threads for those mods in the Reunion S&M forum. This thread is now closed.

re: help saya kho is shooting at my ut's thread - solved
ok - I would put this in that thread but moderator Nanook deemed it had "outlived it's usefulness" and locked it, I'm not quite so hasty.
So here's the solution anyway, (took the old' brain a while to finally get into gear & once I'd found what I was looking for) - I used script editor / general object commands and wrote new script: [THIS] -> set relation to [PLAYERSHIP] to FRIEND
and voila, no moar shooty by Saya at me

**SIGH** What part about discussing mods and scripts in the appropriate forum don't you get? So you solved your heavily modded game problem with a script, good for you. ALL script and mod discussions belong in the appropriate S&M forum, not in the main forum.

At the suggestion of one of the other mods, I've merged the three threads into one, since both issues are the the likely result of the large list of mods the OP has active. One thing to realize is that simply disabling scripts and/or mods that were active in a save does not generally remove their effects from that savegame. The only way to prove it's a game bug and not caused by a mod or script is to duplicate it in a vanilla game, from the start. Otherwise, the savegame is already contaminated.
So, in conclusion, the problem with Saya Kho has got to be a mod/script problem, because in the seven years the game has been out, I'm not aware of anyone playing vanilla who had Saya go hostile to the player and start attacking player assets, unless she was provoked by the player attacking her first.
Second, the Black Crystal problem, I've seen before, and as I pointed out above, it's the result of picking up the crystal using a non-vanilla technique. Most likely, that part of the plot is triggered complete when the player ship actively flies over the crystal to collect it in the normal way. I'm sure the Egosoft programmers had no idea when they programmmed that part that some modder down the line would create another way to collect wares, and that a player would use it to collect the crystal.
So despite having the crystal in your possession, the plot can't trigger. And since you already posses it, the game doesn't know how to handle you losing it and picking it up again. In short, using that salvage script broke the plot and there's no way that I know to fix it.
And that cannot really be blamed on the game. If anything, it's the fault of the person who created that collection script for failing to test it with plot-specific items and warn players appropriately. Then again, all scripts and mods come with the disclaimer - Use At Your Own Risk.
Oh, and one other thing. Just because one person doesn't have problems with a given set of scripts/mods, does not mean another won't. I'll bet the other person who had the exact set of mods/scripts as you also didn't use them in the same way, i.e., picking up the black crystal. And they probably didn't have the same set of circumstances that turned Saya Kho hostile. The RNG just wasn't on your side.
Anyway, sorry for being so long-winded, but I wanted to make sure you understood where your problems came from, and why I locked the three threads in the main forum. I do hope you can solve your black crystal problem through the S&M forum, but I'm afraid your only recourse may be to restart, since you don't have any saves prior to the problem. Good luck.
