The game will be really buggy from release. The question is if the bugs are large enough to affect gameplay or minor things. A game this complex never comes out perfect at release.eldyranx3 wrote:I for one am glad they are pushing it back a bit. Better polished than buggy.

X3R was, at least for me, completely unplayable from the shelf. When I mean 'polished' I mean 'playable from the shelf with minor issues'. My idea of 'buggy' is synomous with 'Ubisoft v1.0 release'.rujikin wrote:The game will be really buggy from release. A game this complex never comes out perfect at release.

Im in the US, and i will fly to europe and get all the shit i need there to make it run if i have to.SIMON POPPLEWELL wrote:If I remember rightly the US was a few months behind when TC was released, so you may see it for the summer.jrd417 wrote:Just in time for the end of the world. it did indeed.frymaster wrote:I seem to recall that the US version of X2 was released long before the Euro version. both of who are small and dont have much of a presence in the US.
i wish i understood why people from the US think everything should be released there first.
we have to wait ages after the US for other things
Of course, this is back in the dim and distant past so I might be getting details wrong. (like, say, all of it)
Even large publishers tend to release at different times, mainly because the US game chart starts on Wednesday and the UK one on a Friday; either that or Euro versions - even for the UK! - take longer because of additional translation work.
the europe release was held back for a new patch and was released at 1.2
but the US released the original version 1.0 so they got it first.

i do really hope that X rebirth will be available before Christmas. 2012 will be the end of the world according to the mayan.. nah..
To be honest, i play X2 a lot compare to X3 reunion (which is graphical update to X2 in my opinion) and don't really play X3TC because my computer rig can't run well with it.
for me me, X3TC is still the same game as X2.
Just say the date. So most of us will have peace in mind and good sleep.

Judging by the type of information released by Ego we will be lackey if they release it in 2012. I mean, info we have here is just bunch of ideas. We have noting specific about any aspect of the game.
If they are not yet ready to share any details and if you take in to account that they started from scratch with new engine and on top of that small development team... I think 2012 is more like year they wish to release it, but I expect it somewhere in 2013.

Really? I think everything the devs have posted so far (e.g. the official stuff, not all the speculation added by everyone else) has been very specific, and they've gone to a lot of trouble to mock up screenshots of the game if they're as early in development as you think!igorstef wrote:Judging by the type of information released by Ego we will be lackey if they release it in 2012. Also, this game has been in development for something like 3 years already, according to the information posted by Bernd...seems like plenty of time to me.

I am thankful that Ego put all available information in one place, although most of that was already known.pjknibbs wrote: Really? Let me give you couple of examples what I consider specific details.
- Stations will be modular is just an idea, now if they give example of possible modules for any specific station, let's say mining station...
- In game we will have drones that will be used for different purpose and possible type of drones are listed. This is again just information about new concept. Now if they gave us details at least about one drone (name, capabilities, screen shot in action) from any of the types mentioned that would show progress in game development.
- Not one type of weapon is mentioned, not one important part of game play is shown on screen shots (fore example new interface)
On top of that we have "game play" trailer (couple of months old) that you need to analyze hard just to be able to speculate about some game play aspects.
If ego soft is in that stage of development where they didn't yet firmly decided on details about any drone or weapon type then I don't expect to see game until 2013. I don't believe they don't want to release at least some specific details because this causes many people here to be very negative about game based on wild speculations.
Don't get me wrong. I trust that you guys will deliver (when ever), after all I have no choice since you are the only ones still bothering with this type of games

I don't understand the whole deal with publishers now a days. The old publishers will only make sequels. The Digital publishers seem to be supporting everything indie development under the sun. Now even Gamestop is becoming a digital publisher.
What Category does Egosoft fall under? They have Indie roots and make sequels.....
On the bright side, this delay gives anyone in the US the opportunity to find a popular MMO, play on the Euro servers. Make a friend and try to get them to get you a copy when it comes out.
Or maybe Everyone except Aussies, will get it at the same time. Seems to be a rule the Aussies never get a break on releases dates.

First of all it's their not there. Second of all Egosoft is creating a completely new game engine that can track thousands of interactive traders in a constantly updated dynamic economy using a 64bit multithreaded engine. Each ship and station will have interactive sub-components. Most people don't appreciate the scope of this undertaking. One can not take established code and re-use it. There is none. Not a single line. How long have the underpinnings of the Unreal and Havoc engines been around?
Look how X3:R came out from the time Egosoft released X2 . And all they did was re-write the graphics engine. Imagine re-writing the economy. Imagine if they didnt have the X2 engine. Imagine if they didnt have XBtF.
It's not as simple as 'testing all the bugs'. Dude.

Darn. I was really looking forward to playing this over christmas.
re: eldyranx3
I agree with your statement about the scope of this project. With X3:R and X3:TC, I was put off by how long everything took - kitting out a single ship seemed to take hours flying around to different stations, collecting energy for the jump drive, etc. But, I never faulted them for the scale of the whole game, and for this reason I stuck with it. I mean, for ~$50, the amount of detail that went into the game, from the size of the graphics to the economy to the engine itself. Even if I didn't completely like the game at first because I was frustrated at how long the simplest task took, I still felt that Egosoft got ripped off by my paying only $50 for the game for everything it can do. I support their endeavors and I hope that some of the shortcomings of X3 will be resolved. I believe this is why they changed the dynamics of how the player controls other ships.
Stepping out of my ship for a little space walk to cap an abandoned ship, while realistic, was not very fun
. Likewise, having to go on a space walk to pilot another ship (before a teleporter) is realistic, but not fun.
X games are a huge undertaking. I wish EgoSoft "Luck and Profit" in their endeavors.
