He was using ire's to prove it could be done. "crappy" pbe's can take down a xenon k. He probably thought it was too much like cheating.

Seeing you have the logitech 3d pro maybe try more rolling with the strafe. Its an effective tactic, but the real reason is its pretty to watch the pretty green bullets spiral around you. :D
Split now give me death? Nah. Just give me your ship.

Oh, and if you are slower than the enemy and you have weaker shields you are the sitting duck. The right tactic in this situation is to engage your jump drive.
Not if you're the superior pilot. Where's the challenge in always having the better ship? :P
It is impossible not to be the superior pilot in this game. Even a blind monkey could defeat the AI. :D
Now, against a half skilled real human, you would be in serious trouble flying a sitting-duck.
Even more reason not to fly optimal setups all the time. I've never understood how people can wax on about how crap the AI is, yet you can't pry them out of their LXs. All I'll say is try a game where you don't strafe like the AI can't, and then talk about how crap the AI is after it hands you your stomach a couple of times.

Also flying non optimal setups is fun.

Anyway I have a new video, a semi sequal to this. Check it out at http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=206928

Enjoy

Hmm... damn, imagine if the AI COULD strafe... That'd be awesome! My M2s(I now have several) would no longer just bash up Ks and Js from three klicks away while dodging all their fire, they'd actually have to come in close. The M7 would no longer be broken as fu*k(it would just be broken). IS combat would actually stop being an instawin if you're in an M3+!

I agree, you have to tie your hands behind your back to get a challenge. To be fair though, there are very few games with agood AI. I do acknowledge that it is incredibly difficult to program a good AI.
Games with a difficult computer enemy usually have the AI cheat. I would rather face a dumb computer enemy than a cheating one, less frustration.

Another idea for increasing the "challenge" is to take the AI off your side... e.g. disable laser auto aim or even HUD display for that matter. I think for the vast majority of players, it will definitely impact laser accuracy %...

The Blue burst explosions are part if XTM. I run vanilla with only the bonus pack and a few other cosmetic mods installed (such as the no fog mod)

So the explosions are part of vanilla

I had a cheating chess computer once ... when-ever you had it check it would move its 3 queens around your king, claim check amte and turn off. Took it back to the store and got asked if I put the batteries in right
