Yeah however I was very happy with the 300 million I made from that run!!! Sent another 40 and now Im starting to build my super complex for the hub mission. I plan to have enough wares to do each stage in less then 24 hours!!! I now have enough money to do that. Should be pretty cool.
Gone totally OTT now!!!! Just brought a Mammoth and its now loading up!!! going to leave it till its totally full.
Then I will sell it

Hey Blackandy,
I don't know if it works if you start the process in 2.7, but I was engaged in Nividium rock collecting and updated to 2.7 and have been able to continue to do so. So I suspect that Egosoft did not change this. No way to know for sure if it works in a new 2.7 game other than trying to do it in a new 2.7 game. Good luck.

No boom...
I tried to do this in Perpetual Sin, bought 5 ships a satellite ect., ect., but when I got down to the simplest thing of all--blowing up the roid with a missile--NOTHING HAPPENED!!!
So now, not only do am out a cool million and extremely frustrated, I feel like a total dumb-ass too.
Am I missing something?

Not just any missile will do. Most are too small. The most commonly used missile is probably the Hornet, however you need at least an M6 to fire it. A Beluga missile or Remote Guided Warhead (RGW) might do it as well, but I haven't tested them.
I would suggest, instead, that you get a Mobile Drilling System laser and install it on something that can fire it, such as most TS's. Then hop in the turret of that TS and fire away.

I am surprised to hear you say that Nanook. I have prepped Nividium asteroids for mining purposes in five sectors, and have actually engaged in nividium mining operations in three of those sectors, and I prepped all of them using Mosquitoes.
Most of the time 1 Mosquito was enough to break up a Nividium asteroid. Once in a while, the first Mosquito would not break the asteroid up, but on all of those occassions a second Mosquito succeeded in breaking the asteroid up. Cheaper than using other missiles would have been too.

Still no love
Well I got the MDS and broke up the 3 roids in Perpetual Sin, sent in 6 ships with the all the software etc., jumped out of the sector and told all the ships to start collecting rocks in Perpetual Sin, all they do is move back and forth a few hundred meters.

Specter missiles will do it for sure as my springblossem will attest to. Bad launch mid fight with some Xenon and I reenacted a scene out of the second season of Battlestar Glactica as that specter hit a big map asteroid in SPG.Nanook wrote:Not just any missile will do. I have also broken up these asteroids with tomahawks, firestorms hammerheads and hammer heavy torpedoes. Looks like any beefy missile that does at least 200k damage with a single warhead will do and maybe the 100k ones will also work. Thunderbolts, that do 75k damage, didn't the last time I tried several patches ago.

sounds like the rocks are respawning way too fast, you shouldn't be making more than maybe 5 million off that rock cluster. Its a small low yield cluster. Even a large cluster shouldn't make you more than 100 million. Is there something in how you are doing this that has near instant respawnings of the rocks? IF so sound slike an exploit that should be fixed
All this time I thought only asteroids respawned and rocks disapeared for good

Nvidium asteroids look exactly as any other asteroid. The coordinates of the location of the asteroids are x:0, y:0, z:1,5. Enter Kingdom's end sector and use the autopilot command=>Navigate=> Move to position and set these coordinates as the destination. If you do not know how to set certain coordinates in the sector map check that LINK. Your ship has to be equipped with a mineral scanner, so it can scan the asteroids and find the nvidium-ones. In my game i've found 4 asteroids in that place. You don't even need missiles. These asteroids can be destroyed just with laser guns.lonck wrote:what do these nividium roids look like? I went to kingdom's end and they all look the same. can anybody post a pic of the map where they are located? I don't understand these coordinates.
It works perfectly in 2.71 vanilla. Many thanks to original poster

This is my implementation of Kryten's great moneymaking method:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUXYWS3eb7I
Click HD for best results.
I'm using Logitech G15 keyboard so I made 4 macros to get collecting fleet up and running faster:
Buying ships:
When in the shipyard trade interface: after buying at least 2 packs of 10 Mercurys and returning to main trade interface window your cursor will be always positioned above Silicon Mine L, that's why I have 7 times downarrow at the beginning of the macro, since the Mercury S is 7 positions lower. I just point to Silicon Mine L manually for the first 2 batches.
Sending ships to the satellite in Kindgom End
The easiest is to do it from the shipyard's landed ships interface. Once the command to fly to the satellite has been issued, the ship will undock and disappear from the list, so you just have to repeat the macro until no ships are left on the panel.
Starting collecting process:
The best practice is to issue the command from your property menu and scroll down ship by ship. You can also disable displaying of active ships in property menu options so you don't have to scroll down but I would not personally recommend it.
Selling ships:
I do it from the property menu. Enable order completion notification on the FIRST ship you send to dock. You cannot dock more than 5 ships simultaneously so when the first one arrives just trade with the shipyard and start selling them as they dock (i.e. sell the first 5, turn seta on, sell another batch of 5 and so on) I don't recommend having other ships docked on KE shipyard since you can accidentally sell it.

I don't have any lag with 50+ ships, perhaps its down individual computers.
I use mercury haulers bought from Cloudbase SE, double the cargo space so you can make double the profits
I'll buy 50 and rename one of them and tell it to move to position at kindoms end, then get another one to broadcast to all my docked ships to follow it, saves a lot of repetitive finger mashing. Still have to issue the collect rocks order, pity that isn't in the wing commands.
You can re enter the sector after you've busted the rocks, just not when you'r freighters are collecting rocks.
Nice video that should help a lot who can't quite grasp the "move to" command using the num pad

on my PC I have lag when over 70 ships are docked to a shipyard and I try to trade with that shipyard and when I have over 200 ships gathering and they are simultaneously full.Kryten wrote:I don't have any lag with 50+ ships, perhaps its down individual computers.
Well that is indeed a time saver!! thanksKryten wrote:I use mercury haulers bought from Cloudbase SE, double the cargo space so you can make double the profitsI'll buy 50 and rename one of them and tell it to move to position at kindoms end, then get another one to broadcast to all my docked ships to follow it, saves a lot of repetitive finger mashing.

I know, I said to never return to sector just to be safeKryten wrote:You can re enter the sector after you've busted the rocks, just not when you'r freighters are collecting rocks.
