Linux version update

Post by gilboa »

Hello Cycrow,

I couldn't find your email address, so I'm using this thread.
In order to compile SPKUtils under recent Linux (GCC 4.3 or above), I needed to make some modifications the code.

As I'm a lousy C++ programmer (Thank God the Linux kernel is still written C :)), the attached patch is far from being clean, but it does compile (and work, at least in first glance).

Patch:
http://gilboadavara.thecodergeek.com/SPK.patch

HOWTO:
$ tar xzf /mnt/Install/Download/X3/sys/SPKUtil-1.00.tar.gz
$ wget http://gilboadavara.thecodergeek.com/SPK.patch
$ patch -p0 < SPK.patch
$ cd SPKUtil-1.00/src/
$ make

P.S. Are you using QT for the xpluginmanager?
If you do, maybe LGP (the guys doing the X3 port to Linux) will be interested in helping you port it. (... and if they don't, I'm more than willing)

Do i need to select the script manager as a ''mod'' on the x3 launch menu?
im asking coz i wanna be able to run imps cockpit mod as well. and so far seems i can only choose one active mod?

I downloaded the 2.12 version of the Plug-in Manager and it doesn't seem to work with my X3TC that I am using on Steam. It couldn't find Steam when it started up and when I manually direct it to the "Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\X3 terran conflict" directory where the X3TC.exe file resides it gives me an error saying "Unable to locate X3.exe/X2.exe." I really don't want to rename the executable in case that causes a problem with Steam. What do I do to get this to work?

I wonder the same thing myself, as I wanted to run Roguey's X3 Mod too.

As for the cockpit, use the Cockpit Callback instead and install it as a fake-patch, it works :)

Here: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=104846

Just remember to hit F1 twice so you get to your updated cockpit :)

I just got this installed, and did not change anything in my X3: Reunion settings. Now when I load a game, it gets slower and slower over time, and unplayable within 30 seconds. This happens whether I have any mods installed or not. My rig is more than capable of running the game on its highest graphics settings. I'm running Vista x64, if it matters.

I hate to think I just can't get any mods at all that need the manager... Any idea what to do?

edit: Nevermind. I'm having so many problems just getting rid of this thing that I've decided to reinstall X3. No way am I going to try this utility again.

Install Uninstall works but there is NO General category in my command menu. I've ran the script editor and it is still not there. Was there ever a fix for this? I'm running Vista 64x

You may know what you're talking about, but I doubt anyone else does. :wink:

If you don't have anything installed which uses the general command menu, then the menu won't appear. Installing the plugin manager itself doesn't affect the commands available. You haven't by some chance posted this by mistake here when you were referring to the cheat scripts?

I am so confused right now. I downloaded the script manager. I downloaded the cheat script. I installed the cheat script. SOMEWHERE, (Was on page 1 of this thread but ti seems to be gone now) there was a screenshot of the cheat commands under General in the command console but there IS NO General in my command console. I read further where it said enable the script editor and it will be there but that to did not put the General option in my Command console....

Have you enabled the script editor and then saved your game? You then need to exit and reload. Once you've done that, the menu with the cheat commands should appear.

That screenshot you're referring to is on the first page of the cheat scripts sticky - you missed posting in it by a couple of threads. :wink:

The Plugin Manager has a bug. It doesn't support properly cyrillic filenames and directories e.g. when I try to install a plugin from a directory which name contains cyrillic letters manager fails to install it.

i installed the xplugin package 2.1.2 (latest dowload from cycrow) it installed fine and i've tried LV cheats (right after installing) the installer works like a charm.. however, when i exited the installer and restart it again (trying to remove the LV scripts) it gives me XMInstaller error.. i tried installing and uninstalling but still the same error.. i can't seem to start the installer anymore.. did i miss anything?

Cycrow,
Need help with this program install. I am using the newest version 2.12 and have looked in and used the tips in the help file and FAQ's area but they have not helped. I am using a Steam install version of X3:TC and the program is not able to find the X3 exe file. Even when I point directly at the folder it is in. I even uninstalled the game and reinstalled it from the STEAM backup copy I had from Steam and still your program still fails to locate my steam installed X3:TC game even when pointed directly at the X3:TC folder itself.
HELP Please :D :lol:

X Plugin Manager Bug

Post by JimmyJake »

Yet another Epic Fail of Jimmy Jake the Noob. I tried that X Plugin Thing by Cycrow, (forgive my misspelling) but nothing worked with it. I thought it was because I had no Default Script Directory. So, I used the Startup Wizard, Punched in my language, (Russian, obviously) and then it said I didn't have DeepSilver DVD or Steam, even with the No Sockets Thing-A-Ma-Bob turned on. (I have DeepSilver, I think.) Searching both my drives came up with no results. I discovered this while attempting to get the combat mod, if that helps. (I needed it to hopefully cover up my Noobishness.) Help!
