In the future it will be. For patch 1.2.2, a change in how the installers work meant that the GUI installer had to be run. The Change Log lists any extra steps that needs to be taken for each patch at the top of that patch's notes in bold. If you skip patches (in your case, you skipped 1.2.1 and 1.2.2), you have to follow the instructions for each patch you skip, not only the final patch you install (particularly important for Export/Import).abe159 wrote:No, its optional isn't it? I just selected the GUI I wanted in the main installer then installed the patch after.

Version 1.2.3
July 14, 2014
This patch does not require an import/export
Patch contains all previous changes from 1.2.1 and up
It appears however that 1.2.0 requires an import export, will try that.
edit: Was able to export after setting up a hotkey, however there is no "Damyath Import start" and all the other starts appear to be vanilla.

If you're starting a new game, E/I isn't necessary (added that part for future reference). Also, pay attention to:abe159 wrote:Version 1.2.3

EDIT: Also, can you tell me the entire path to your x3ap.exe?

Ok tried this, still nope. Path to my x3ap is C:\X3AP\X3AP.exe. Windows 7 x64. It looks like the files are all getting installed to the addons folder, but something is amiss. I used to have xrm and plugin manager installed prior to this. But I uninstalled them and deleted everything associated with them. Clean slate. Under pilot status it lists the game as ***modified***Tahlmorra wrote:If you're starting a new game, E/I isn't necessary (added that part for future reference). Yeah, something is majorly wrong with your install. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit as well with no issues. Here are some things that may be issues: Did you verify local files in steam after uninstalling XRM? Did you point both all three installers (Main, gui, and 1.2.3 patch) to 'C:\X3AP\'? When you said you uninstalled XRM, what exactly did you do? You may need to just delete everything to do with X3 and redownload from scratch.abe159 wrote:Ok tried this, still nope. For best results playing Litcubes Universe, have as little to do with steam as possible.
Find the vanilla clean install of AP in your steam folder on your hard drive.
Click copy and move it to it's own folder far far away from the steam folder. I use another hard drive.
Download the no steam .exe for ap and put it in the root dir of this new folder.
Create a shortcut to the no steam .exe and stick it on your desktop.
Install version 1.2.0 of LU into the root dir of this folder.
Install the GUI patch into root dir.
Install patch 1.2.3 into root dir.
Click shortcut on desktop and wave goodbye to whatever social life you thought you had.

Food for thought, Litcube:
X3AP_n.exe - No-steam executable. AP version 3.0
X3AP.exe - Vanilla executable. AP version 3.1
X3AP_n.exe - No-steam executable. AP version 3.0
X3AP.exe - Vanilla executable. AP version 3.1
If there are critical changes, recommending the older No-steam executable during installation could manifest future, unreproducible bugs if X3AP.exe is the version you design with.

We are very well aware of the difference between the 3.0 and 3.1 exe's - in fact i was the one that reported the crash in question to Egosoft. Litcube and I know what were doingNodusCursorius wrote:Food for though, Litcube:

The 3.0 exe will never manifest strange behaviors over the 3.1 exe. LU already has safeguards in place that prevent this crash.
I am downloading the 1.2.0 installer as i write this to do a full diff check on the files in an effort to find the odd behavior.

Thank you for the clarity and I had a hunch one of you considered it. I'm grasping at straws in an attempt to resolve my crash with a specific mod, but wanted to weigh in with the LUV team before disassembling both executables.Jack08 wrote:We are very well aware of the difference between the 3.0 and 3.1 exe's - in fact i was the one that reported the crash in question to Egosoft. I am too tired to pour over assembly code tonight, so you've made me happy.

Let me know if I can help. From md5/crc lists to information, I'll be awake a few hours more. And - thanks for chasing the digital ghost.I am downloading the 1.2.0 installer as i write this to do a full diff check on the files in an effort to find the odd behavior.

Hm. I thought I did write that somewhere. Guess I didn't!
Try it out and let me know.
If anyone else tries to tie this issue to the issue where a 3rd party mod isn't working in a morally misguided effort to garner traction on said issue, I will grow to 1000 feet tall, turn red and spit angry fireballs (the fireballs will have smilies on them). The resulting rampage will be a story told to children far in the future. "The horrors of that day", they'll whisper, eyes glassy. "And it all could have been avoided."

Yeah, I know. In all seriousness, this is my bad. In the previous version of the menu it would tell you that you required bb bs for certain functions. It doesn't show up that way in the command encyclopedia because that's not required to actually *run* the trade command.
Something to clean up. Perhaps the LUWikii team can add the subject to the Trade product search page.
