Hello guys, im new here as you can see this is my first post, Anyhow i installed the game, modded it to xtm with 2.5 update and the 3.7.1 or sumthing bonus pack.
I was playing as bankrutp assasin, was doing well, had 3 Sts, a few mill in the bak and was flying my fav ship, the Chimera. I saved it last night, went to work and when i turned it on today, all my saved games when loaded crash, it says X3 has stopped working. There were 7 saves all different times in different places and everyone is corrupt, How?
I unistalled it, reinstalled it, this time i didn mod it to XTM, it asks do i want to compleatly remove the game contents, i selected yes, but after the reinstall the XTM is still loaded, my saves are still there, they still crash, but only now when i start a new game it crashes as well.
Again i uninstalled it, delted all the files compleatly, checked my C Drive, even unistalled the plugin manager, reinstalled it ,but again the XTM is there, and the game crashes.
Does anyone know what to do and how the hell this has happened.
Again i may add, it happen last week too on my plot game, it is really frustrating when you put so much time and effort in for the game just to go **** off.
Rant over sorry.
P.S its X3 Reunion
iS IT THE XTM Mod causing this? and if so how do i get rid of it.
Thanks.

You do realize that you need to start a new game when you install a new mod right. your old saves won't work with the new content.BankruptAssasin wrote:Hello guys, im new here as you can see this is my first post, Anyhow i installed the game, modded it to xtm with 2.5 update and the 3.7.1 or sumthing bonus pack.

In order for the NPC ships to work with a custom map - you need to have two files, renamed accordingly - (and added, (usually as .cat files numbered last) in the X3R folder)).knightmaster wrote:I'm having touble with the xtended mod with my custom map. It saids that the job files cannot be loaded, also the whole universe is missing all the ships. but all the other maps that came with the xtended mod, plus the x_universe is fine though.
Is there anything that i'm missing or is there anything that i can do to fix it?
These are:
Jobs.mapname.txt
JobWings.mapname.txt
You can copy and rename the normal job and jobwings files without any problem. XTM will still complain if you use custom job files with a custom map - (since they arn't associated with XTM) - but it won't be a problem.
I'm trying to get a custom map to work too - but I've got a really weird problem - it randomly crashes out in random sectors every game - (I mean a full crash to desktop) - and I can't seem to do anything about it. I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the map - but I'm darned if I know what - checked it all manually, (not too many SY's/gates etc.), and it all seems to check out, but...

Actually - I created mine in pure xml, (based on a randomly generated map, fully edited and manually checked and tweaked).Aydan wrote:A ctd is most commonly caused by missing model files or textures. I would have thought that missing model files etc. would be consistent in which sectors crash out too? (Since it's not - feels completely random - one sector might crash out one time, then be fine the next).

What exactly would cause that in the xml file though?Aydan wrote:Then it's a ship, weapon, bullet, debris or asteroid which is missingAs soon as this is called, your game crashes.
All the asteroids are type 17, so I can't see that being a problem. I don't have anything else there referenced in the xml file, so...
And yet the game seems to work perfectly on the normal map. (which is why I'm sure it's something to do with the map xml file itself, though I'm darned if I know what).
What I have been thinking of doing, though, is starting with the normal - (well, XTM) map, and then altering it sector by sector and seeing if it still has the same problem - (it'll take ages, but...).

Hey guys.
I've got the Steam retail version of X3 and I was wondering if it were at all possible to use XTM together with the Steam version.
I tried installing it earlier by extracting the 7zip file into my X3 Steam Directory only for it to give me an error message upon starting a new game, something along the lines of "The correct mod files have not been detected."
Basically, I've entirely uninstalled the game from my Steam catalogue, along with XTM and I'm in the process of installing it again, any help any of you could offer me would be greatly appreciated.

I tried this and dragged all the files over manually to my X3 directory, but I'm still getting the same message. ._.Volatar wrote:You 100% can use XTM with the Steam version. I am doing so right now in fact. I got that same error too the first time though. I simply extracted to a different folder, and dragged all the files over. The error went away and I played happily

I'm almost ready to give up on X3 again - I can never get it to work how I want

(A friend of mine wants me to help him with his Freelancer mod instead...).

Creating Custom Starts
Hi,
Maybe a bit ambitious for a first go, but am setting up a custom campaign in the X3:XTM Universe, and am in the process of setting up the gamestart, which also seems to be the cause of many headaches.
What i'm trying to work out is how to make the campaign show up in the custom game list when you start a new game.
I've been mimicing most of the info from the XTM start scripts in an attempt to effect the custom start and now have a script that when run will spawn the ship, equip it, name it, assign it to the player, and change the reputation.
I have had no luck searching through the forum to see what others have done and pulling some custom scripts off the net and going through them, they seem to suffer the same problem.
Any suggestions?
