i wish i had the confidence to pre-order this game.. i really hope it's like x3 in bigger, better, newer etc.

but i'm not falling this time.... also wonder why you don't show longer footage of the real gameplay on youtube etc. or even better, give some (unpaid) influencer a copy and let them to a let's play or let's try... i'm a bit concerned that the game should be done in less than 2 months but we only see couple of minutes of cut gameplay... i would like to see at least 2 hours of uninterrupted gameplay to get a better picture of the capabilities of x4 (maybe i missed it, than please send me the link)

x-rebirth also "looked" nice in the vids before launch...

Remember, Egosoft did release a NOSTEAM exe for X3TC, X3AP and X Rebirth, so chances are they'll do it for X4.

People asked about a physical CE already, but is it possible that the standard edition gets a physical copy as well? If the agreement with DS works out, that is

It is extremely unlikely that any publisher would agree to give away a physical copy, which would cost money for them to produce, to someone who had bought an electronic copy that was not published by them.

Edit, revised reply due to possibly misunderstanding the question: Since no agreement has been reached with a publisher, we cannot answer questions about what such a hypothetical agreement might or might not include. Sorry.

I bought the X4: Foundations Collector's Edition on Steam. From what I've read, there is supposed to be additional items that come with this pre-order. It also states that you need to connect a Steam account to your Egosoft acct. 1) How do I connect these two accounts? and 2) Do I have to purchase the CE from the Egosoft store to get the additional items, or will my purchase on Steam still entitle me to receive them?

Same, even if I'm hardcore SC fan, X series were always something I liked to comeback to. After Rebirth fiasco I lost hope for anything even comparable to X2,X3. Don't lose this chance Egosoft, ED is nothing compared to X series, you can snatch back a lot of your old community back

Click on your name at the top right corner of the forum, choose User Control Panel from the list that drops down, go to the fourth tab called "Egosoft Settings", then the second sub-tab called "Game Registration". The Steam link option is there.

2) Do I have to purchase the CE from the Egosoft store to get the additional items, or will my purchase on Steam still entitle me to receive them?

The items are part of the digital Collector's Edition. It doesn't matter where you buy it.

Any Ego team could "estimate" how heavy the download will be? not full install dir but download only ? we're not at 1/5 Gb's but… in order to estimate my download time at release…

As long as the download time is under 1 hour I'm fine. So anything under 150 GB is fine.

It is written 12 Go on Steam page, so I assumed it should be the more or less good size. That a bit less than twice of my XR folder with all DLC. (7.5Go)
Even with my previous poor connection it was not worried, less than 1 day of download. That lower than certain patch on 1 of my game (yep poor optimisation).

Hmmm. 12GB seems low to me. Also I was hoping that the content would be comparable to XR with all of it's DLC's (which might of course still be the case even if the disk footprint is lower).

I am very curious how large the save games will get. Since they'll now have to contain much more data and it's stored as text (XML). The XR saves were already huge.

Now the need to store the location/angle of each module for the whole instand universe, not to mention all modules including module health for all ships.
