Took Battlestar Valkyrie into combat in Xenon Core. Several M7's and an M1 or M2 - things were quite hectic. Valkyrie was not fully armed.
Valkyrie came out with some of her systems destroyed (2GJ shield, Transporter Device, Software). 6 million credits and then some in Spacedock to repair. Shields were practically zero when I jumped out, then back in again. I have some great screenshots.
This is by far, the most enjoyable hour in battle, in any ship, so far. There left over parts of Xenon everywhere, PPC, CIG, Missiles, HEPTs. :D

Beautiful thing seeing big G in space.

Still can't get her to fire weapons when I'm in sector.

I've tried MARS and CMOD addons to coax her to shoot, but nothing.

I've run a save game from online, and bought her, but after loading 1 Cluster Flak array per weapon station, she still does not shoot when I'm around to see it.

Does Galactica (or any Battlestar) need to be empty of ships to fight?

Does a Battlestar need to have all weapon pylons filled in order to shoot?

I've watched from OOS as Galactica wiped whole Xenon sectors, but when I (in my Viper Mk VII) go in to her sector, she drives around as if to maneuver to fire but does not.

I just finished reinstalling Windows XP. I'd love to try a save game from someone who has a fully functioning Battlestar, just to make sure I have a correctly installed version. This mod is the glue that keeps me into this game. I want this to work more than any other thing I'm trying to play. Please help me play test with a save game file.

Do I need to install another Mod to make this work? Do I need to install other weapons than Flak Artiller Arrays? I'm stumped as to why I seem to be the only one who can't seen to get it to work.

I'd be happy to start a new game if I knew the Mod would work for me. A save game from a working copy would help me be sure of that.

It should act like any other X3 ship. I have no idea why it is not working for you but works fine for everyone else.

Yeah, thinking maybe something buggy about my save files. I originally installed your mod over top of Hawks ver. 1.8 Clean reinstalls aren't fixing it.

Oddball thing is, I downloaded a save file (presumably vanilla) traded in a couple ships and got 5 Cluster Flak Arrays, stuck 1 each on Front, Top, Left, Right, and Rear. Same result.

That's why I was asking about getting a known working save file, to eliminate that as a culprit.

In any event, thanks again for your work on this. Even if I have to use the battlestars as pure carriers, this mod is a hoot! :)

@ Igor.tverd : Those lines are in the components file.

Fresh install again with only Killerog BSG Ships 0.3 and Cycrow Cheat Scripts. Started a new game, decked out a Galactica and a Valkyrie with an assortment of weapons and cheat spawned some enemy fodder ships. G and V did fly-bys, but no guns.

I then cloned Galactica as a Xenon faction ship, commanded G and V to Attack All Enemies and Attack My Target. My Battlestars continued to chase without shooting, but the Xenon Galactica was all guns blazing :? (I watched all this from In Sector, but in a separate ship).

Is there some in game command I'm missing? Or is this a clue to something else I might need to tweak in the .cat or .dat? :gruebel:

Sorry I'm such a hassle on this, I'm a bit of a noob to the game and totally clueless on modding. :S

Well, I've got an oddish workaround.

Using Cycrow Cheat Scripts, I cloned Galactica as a Xenon. I let her go active and fire off a few shots at my Galactica (just to make sure she worked), and then used the "Take Ownership" cheat. All the wares were cloned, but just redocked the ships to my new Galactica, and cheat destroyed the original. Seems to work fine. I'll find out if adding new weapons has any adverse effects at some point, but I can just rinse and repeat.

If anyone has an idea why this works and the other didn't, I'd love to hear it. :gruebel:

Can't say that I understand the MOD stuff at all, but the ships that I have, do seem to work OK. I only use the BSG download, no cheats, nothing else except playing X3TC that I have as Vanilla type game.
I have spent quite a lot of time arming one Mercury Class (Peggy), one Columbia Class (Galactica), and the six Valhalla Class (Valkyrie).
They seem OK, and the few fighters that I launched into combat seem OK. Might I suggest the Equipment Docks at Getsu Fune as a good place to arm and equip the Battlestars, as ten can be docked at once, with TS freighters ferrying energy, shields, weapons, ammunition to them. These ships are purely to re-inforce my existing Fleet, something they seem to do well.

@AgamemnonArgon - Thanks for the tips, I'll be moving toward Getsu Fune. As apartial response to your other post regarding arming, I have a pile of Flak Artillery Arrays on board. They don't seem to be real effective against the larger ships (short range, not real heavy damage).

@All :oops: :oops: :oops: Simple fix really. I just found the Turret Control section of the Command Console. Wow do I feel like a real heel.

Embarrassing really. Wish the Gold Edition came with a paper manual. Might have stumbled across some basics like that.

Valkyrie has four Gauss, port and starboard, and four Photon Pulse Cannon. Electro Magnetic Pulse Cannon, four either side (Terran) weapons. Flak Up and Down.
Galactica has Ion Cannon, Photon Pulse Cannon, and FLAK.
Peggy has PPC, FLAK.
I have bought a fighter mix - around a hundred Viper MK VII, and MK II. Severe shortage of 25 MJ shields, but the ones that are armed do well against Xenon.
Of the two Raptor types, the Assault Rapton can carry Lasers, the other cannot and is purely missiles.
I have the Celestra, and the Rising Star as support ships. Rising Star can carry fourteen fighters or Raptors, Celestra, only four.
The Galactic Defender, will be a must - will need at least - twenty.

This may seem totally lame, BUT


Did you forget to actually go into your Command Menu for the ship(s) in question and actually ORDER the Turrets to "Shoot Enemy" or some such???

Thanks for this mod ! But I got some troubles:

I downloaded the second zip on Killerog site, so if I'm right, the conversion, unzipped into X3TC folder, activated it in X3 start menu, changed my name into "Thereshallbewings", save and reload...

But no sign of any BSG ship, I even tried to use Cycrow cheat script to see if I could find any BSG ship in the "create ship menu", but... no way...

No sign of a ship in the script edito also, I could see the cycrow cheat, but no BSG...

Am I missing something or what?

oooooook, so I just tried a new game without story, the one you start in argon prime, I just found BSG ships, as I play in French, my only problem now is to test all the "ReadTextxxxxxx" I can find to see what ship I want...

but now my question is, wath's the real difference between the 2 zip files I can find on killerog site? between "ships mod" and "full conversion mod" ?

I didn't see any...

@ MarkusXL Yep, that's exactly what I had done. :oops: /facepalm. Should be a law against noobs like me trying to operate a big ship.


@ Ranabat Both files are the same. I think one of the links had been to the full conversion mod, which is disabled now.

No, the ships only come with 1 weak shield and no weapons if I remember correctly. Galactica and Valkyrie can load 12 x 2GJ shield. Don't know any of the others.
