Is there a place that basically tells me why i should buy X3 TC aside from the new story, graphics and more icing on the cake? What im looking for is more functionality and control of what happens in your empire.

Its much appreciated.

Thanks
If that's what you asked the game user interface (GUI) has been through a total overhaul, we must wait and see how that fares.
I am in the same boat. I pre-purchased the original X3 and got burned hard (buggy as hell, and all-in-all a crappy game (all the bugs of X2 and more!). So yeah, we probably need to wait a bit and see how the product fares.

I go away for 2 days and this happens...!! And 11 pages of replies too!!!!

If I'd have known that going away would produce such a result, I would have gone away sooner and TC would of course have been ready sooner....

Can I pre-order an English version of TC in ego shop or I have to stick to the spanish retailers?

My guess is that they don't want to have to support an outdated OS. Microsoft put W2k on Extended Support a few months before X3 came out, but with TC's release, W2k will cease Extended Support in less than 2 years. That's probably before X4 will come out, so they have to think ahead a little.

Besides, very few games officially support W2k these days.

Low level concern crossed my mind when I read on my Amazon Pre-order :

"X3: Terran Conflict (PC CD)" CD-ROM

Whereas the Egosoft shop shows:

X3: Terran Conflict Format: PC DVD-Rom

Would I be correct in thinking that Amazon generalised about the coming format of the game media.

it wouldn't be the first thing they got wrong.

besides, they only mention it'll run on vista, which is also clearly wrong

I would hope that's the case, since the initial Enlight versions came on either 5 or 6 CD's. And with all the potential added content of TC, I'd guess that there'd be a few more CD's required. With absolutely no real knowledge of the size of X3:TC, I'd speculate that it may even require more than one DVD, since Reunion pretty much filled up a DVD all by itself. I can't imagine a game publisher putting such a game on CD's anymore.

iirc, the reason for the CD versions by enlight was down to Walmart, who at the time refused to stock DVD games. Dont know if thats still the case, but i doubt it

for the Size, the specifications state that the game requires 10gb of space, so that should give you some indication of the size

Its either 2 DVDs or a double layer DVD...

Or a very high compression technique, someone did manage to put Mass effect on 1 DVD.

Installed HD size. Not DVD size. So, depending on compression, it'll be either one or two DVD's as I guessed above.

And if WalMart forces the publisher to use CD's again, someone should take the idiot in charge of such a decision and make him install the game a hundred times, all the while chanting "I hate CD's, I hate CD's, ....."

Up to now the only disk master we made is a DVD-9 (8.5GB of compressed data filled to the last byte ;)

Call me overly optimistic if you must but off the top of my head I can't think of any bugs still remaining in X3 so unless there are bugs in TC's storyline section I'm expecting TC to be pretty much bug free from day one.

P.S. If anyone knows of any bugs still in X3 V2.5 please DON'T take this as an opportunity to list them because I obviously think they are part of the game and don't realise they are bugs lol

Well it would appear that I am wrong...

Australian X fans who don't want to buy online or download: EB Games has X3:TC listed for AUD$70. And they reckon they will have it in for 3/10. :) 8)

If we're lucky they will ship release date minus estimated shipping time.
Probably closer to the release date though.

Now where did my credit card go hmm.

Amazon certainly pre-ship games--I ordered Mercenaries 2 through them, and it arrived in the post on release day; it must have actually been sent the day before.

I would pester them to get that sorted being listed as vista only may cost ego a fair few sales in the uk.

Re: Amazon

A review has been posted with the requirements listed; from the top of this thread.

My pre-order has been given an ETA of the 6th. or 7th.
