Edit: Fixed by a deletion of the mod file and re-install of ships =/

I've just begun to use the ship installer, and I must say that the automatically adding ships to shipyard function is a very nice one. However, I am experiencing some problems, though the instructions sounded simple enough :P =/

All I did was install the ship installer, download ship, double click to add it into the ship installer, select shipcreator mod, and then go into the game. I do not have any mods. When I get into the game and call up the universe map, all the sectors are perfectly aligned, instead of seemingly "a little 3D" as in the original game.

When I disable the mod, everything was back to normal again, sectors would overlap each other on the map.

Something I did wrong?

Edit 2: Seems like it only happens with one of the ship that I extracted from another mod.

Edit 3: I tried importing a ship from the syndicate mod - the mobile pirate base with weapons, but it just shows up in the game like the changes that were made didn't mattered. It was the same thing as the vanilla mobile base and it couldn't have any weapons installed. What might have been wrong?

reinhart_menken, it sounds like for some reason, one of the ships you installed has XFP's Universe Alignment Bod file in, not sure what that would be doing there.

also, you cant install a ship that replaces another one, if you install a ship thats the same as the original with some changes, then u'll end up with 2 versions, the original, and the new one with the changes.

Diablos, some others have been having this problem, which is odd because there were no changes in the customize ship option in this version, what XSP's are you having problems with so i can check it

Thanks for answering my last question Cycrow.

I've given up on importing the syndicate-modified mobile pirate base into the game (now that I put it that way, that sounds kind of cool), but instead turned to other newer ships, however I've ran into a new problem now. I've successfully (I think) imported the Kyoto mobile pirate base and the Wakizaki from the DDRS mod into the ship creator, saved them into xsp files, and then installed them with the ship installer.

I've also managed to write a very simple script (three lines) to add them to a shipyard of my choice. Now, the problem is, right after I've added the ships, and tried to load a savegame that was saved before I added all those ships in the game (so pretty much vanilla and only scripts), the game just crashes. It's never happened before I install newer ships, and there doesn't seem to be a problem when I am using the ShipCreator mod but haven't added the new ships, and then load the game. So:

Not using ShipCreator mod (original game), load game, reload - OK
Using ShipCreator mod, load game, write script, ships added, reload game - Crash
Using ShipCreator mod, load game, reload - OK
Using ShipCreator mod, load game, write script, ships added, deleted script, reload - Crash

You might notice that from the above I tried an extra step - to delete the script - because I thought I might have written a faulty script and mess up the game, but being a very simple script in nature and only four lines, it's not really expected.

So, what might be going on here? I haven't even tried to see if the models are showing up inside the game (read something about model not showing up vs crashing), because this is a potentially disconcerting problem enough =/

I've never had much problem with any other modded games but it seems that a lot of problem that might happen in modded X3 happens to me =/ Just a thought to myself.

does the game not even load ?
and what is the error, is it something about a curropt save, or just a standard crash ?

No, the game doesn't even load. I'm afraid I'm not sure how to tell a corrupted save from a standard crash; but I would guess it's a standard crash, because I am able to load the game (whereas a corrupted save would not be able to). It doesn't show any errors. Windows just show me the error message saying something to the effect that something's wrong and the program is forced to end =/

I'm trying to uninstall the ships and then delete the mod and do it all over again to see if the problem can be resolved.

Cycrow,

I am having the same exact issues as reinhart. I installed X3 2.0.0.2 and played it vanilla for a while. After I got the hang of things, I added some scripts to the game using your Script Manager. No problems with that at all. I turned on the bonus release Cockpit Mod, still no problems. Then I tried to add a ship with the Ship Manager. I added the millenium falcon on Tensin's page, started it up with the ShipCreator mod and it never got to the intro movie. Ran the game again. This time I was able to get to the menu, start a new game, but as soon as the loading was about to finish, the ship computer starts to ding with the messages from the Script Manager scripts I have installed. The sound, graphics and user input were all significantly lagging, i.e. the mouse cursor would hang, sounds were slowed down, graphics became highly jumpy.

Now, not to brag (well a lil) my system is pretty damn good ( AMD X2 4200+ on ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe, 2gb PC6400 DDR2, with two 256mb nVidia 7600GS PCIe cards in SLI ) so it wasn't that I couldn't handle the load especially since I was running fine before the added ship. Eventually the entire game Crashes To Desktop, i tried to play several games and each game CTDed from a different action, i.e. accelerating, opening menu, targeting a ship, opening command console.

Here's the kicker that my be of help. I'm a software developer so I have debugging engines installed. Everytime the game CTDed, the .NET Just-In-Time debugger fired. Even launching the Ship Installer or Ship Creator would randomly throw runtime errors. Unfortunately I still thought it was something I had done wrong so I did not copy the exception error.

I then reinstalled / upgraded all my drivers and flashed to the newest BIOS. Well the M2N-SLI Deluxe is known for BIOS issues so Windows started freaking out after the flash so I decided to do a clean install of my system.

I reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP2, mobo/video/sound drivers, all windows updates and windows was running better than before ( the mobo did have BIOS issues :) ).

I reinstalled X3 2.0.0.2 and ran vanilla. Ran better than before. Installed the Bonus Materials ( script pack and cockpit mod ) ran with mod active, no problems. I installed your Script Manager, added your All-In-One script, EMP, ran, worked great. All scripts ran as claimed to. Then I installed the Ship Manager. By now I had read this thread and had the idea I was not alone with this issue, so I followed how reinhart tested from this point:

Not using ShipCreator mod (using original mod or Cockpit mod with scripts), load game, reload - OK
Added 4 ships with Ship Manager ( BSG ships from Tensin's page )
Using ShipCreator mod (with Cockpit mod as base mod), load game - Immediate CTD
Using ShipCreator mod (with ::Standard Game:: as base mod), load game - OK but would still experience that strange lagging until inevitable CTD
Uninstalled Ship Manager, deleted ShipInstall and mod X3 directory contents, load game - OK, and Script Manager scripts still work fine.

I still have to install my IDE software yet ( next step ) so after I get that installed, I'll screenshot the JIT debugger window if and most likely when it rears it's ugly head while testing the Ship Manager, and email it to you.

i've u've had errors when running the ship creator, then its likly there was a problem during the install and the data is most likly curropt. I've suspected a problem with the file handling system, but i've been unable to track down whats actually causing, as it only happens on some systems and not others.

i've never been able to reproduce the problem on my pc which makes it even more difficult to track down.

however, i have added a few options that you could try, u could bypass the mod file creation completly to rule that out as a problem. In the newest version of the Ship Installer, there are 2 options that you can use. The first is the Base Mod type, set that to Fake Patch, and the 2nd is the file system, change that to extracted to directories.

however, before doign that, i suggest going to Reset in the file menu, this will remove all the ships and reset the data back. then set the options and install a ship. First try it in a new custom game if it works fine then, then u can try to load your saved game

Great, I've downloaded the newer version (when did you sneak that in? :P) and am going to try that out. Thanks!

Another thing Cycrow. I've been trying to extract the Wakizachi ship from the DDRS mod and ran into some problems, I asked on the DDRS thread but DeadlyDa wasn't familiar with the installer so he pointed me here.

The problem basically is, I imported the ship from the mod file into the ship creator, and everything seemed to be in order, scene files, TCockpits, etc. When I got into the game, however, the ship wouldn't fire. It's not just the turrets, but the main guns. What's going on there?

Anyways, thanks again for any help you might be able to give.

Edit: I neglected to ask. If it's set up as fake patch, would it produce a new patch file? (#xx.dat/.cat) And should I still choose the ShipCreator mod when I run the game or should I just use original?

the problem is most likly that u didn't extract the components entries needed for the guns to work, i made an error in the previous version and the components entries from the wizard wern't actually added to the ship.

again, once u update, this should be fixed, so i would try it again.

when it currently does, is copy the base mod into the ship creator mod. So if you set the base mod to the cockpit mod, then the files from the cockpit mod will be added to the ship creator mod along with the ships.

in fake patch mod, the cockpit mod will be copied to a fake patch, and the ship creator mod will only contain the files for the ships, efectivly allow the game to merge them. Setting this option only effects the base mod, if you dont have a base mod, it wont make any difference

I saw you mention some exports from DDRS.

If you've got fully working exports from DDRS in XSP, I'd love a copy of those. I've got Deadly's permission, I just have not had time to export a recent version complete with textures and the like.

ok when i try to load your page or update the program, this is what happens, a window pops up after a few seconds of it trying to load the page and says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet. obviously i am
The website is encountering problems. ?
There might be a typing error in the address. uh nope clicked the link

and the same for the direct download of the file. as for the auto update in ship creator it waits for 30 seconds and then the program crashes when it doesnt connect.

Sure tensin, I would love to provide one of the biggest ship collection site with some help. I'll take your word that DeadlyDa have given you permission to host it. Where would you like me to send the exported XSP version of his ship?
