then obviously you didn't read all my post then did you.BlackRain wrote:What are you talking about Xenon? There are 4 paths out of Argon prime, go a different path and avoid that sector. Get LV's JTP race response script and Argon ships will take care of the M2. Try starting a new game if you havent. I started a new game and no big ships have yet to attack core sectors. No enemy activity in Core sectors at all right now. Plus a khaak M2 is extremely slow, you can fly circles around it. I really don't see what you are complaining about.

Shortly after installing the patch I was in Ianamus Zura, and suddenly 3 pages full of pirate ships started streaming out of the shipyard. Me thinks those sneaky Teladi are waging a sneaky war on the other races through use of privateers!
Took care of them (nova with 9 mass drivers can still pretty much wipe the floor against all pirates as long as you don't let too many got close at once), and then noticed that there was a swarm of Xenon in (IIRC) Scale Plate Green, along with some khaak clusters, a khaak carier and 2 destroyers! stayed well clear of there, and ordered all my ships to dock.
The patch has stopped the crash I was getting during mission 8, but hasn't completely fixed it up - I still can't continue the plot

I grounded my fleet of UT's and went out and about in my Nova with 6 Nova wingmen to take out some enemies.
I managed to kill many of the Xenon and pirates although larger groups simply rip through my shields in seconds.
However, race fleets are definitely responding to the threat: i joined in a massive battle against a large swarm of Xenon in Omicron Lyrae, siding with the Argon M2 (love the noise of the flak cannons, and was thrilled watching the trails of weapon fire).
Teladi still dont seem to be interested in the large groups of pirates systematically destroying their core sectors, but they do respond quickly to Khaak attack; a huge Khaak cluster had a rather epic battle with a Teladi M2 near Siezewell.
After deciding my fleet is no match for the larger Xenon hordes i took to attempting to reopen the problematic core Teladi sectors, with some success; many of the pirate groups seem to be attempting to leave Teladi space (and promptly get splatted by unfriendly race miliatary ships) and those that didnt i was able to split up and destroy using fast M5's to draw larger groups away then picking off the stragglers.
It seems to me that things are cooling off; i tentatively released 10 UT's to test the water, and they seem to be doing ok, with only one or two armed responses necessary.
I suspect a new equillibrium will be reached and the enemies will be forced out of race owned sectors; i can already see fleets gathering in the core sectors and leaving via the gates.
There is still light on the horizon!

Problem reporting
Well, this is a new one on me. I dont think ive noticed this before so i guess its a 1.3 bug. A Xennon docked in a station with me!
http://www.xptech.co.uk/Urm.jpg
Patch 1.3 has turned a badly bugged game into terribly bugged game. Im sorry but X3 is going on the shelf until some serious bug huntings done.
Here is my list of problem: (i dont care it works fine for you thats not the point! it doesnt for me!)
1)Both my comps beat minimum spec by a fair way, but jolt around like they are 286's
2)Graphics bugs in 1.3. On combat a load of black blocks apear and replace ships.
3)Game hangs with sound loop after various periods of time. I can tell the desktop and computers still working in the background (with ctrl-alt delete I can just about see the mouse curser) but cant get to it.
4)Slows down.. after a while each sector takes longer and longer, like its using more and more memory. A memory leak. Once it crashed to desktop and windows gave me a yellow warning triangle saying virtual memory low. X3 was the only thing running.
Ive not had other peoples problems with too many pirate ships or xennon
Great game, great shame.
Bring back Earth and Beyond! (EA's developers kept us in the dark, didnt repond for ages, delayed patches all the time and eventually EA killed it off... good thing X3 isnt a MMORPG)
Edit: please don't directly post pictures larger than 640x480, thanks. - Storm.

Good news here. Patch seems to have worked fine... bare in mind i've been playing just a little time.
i've got 2 starts.
save 0-9 normal, am friends with all and have some facts and whatnot. No massive attacks. all seems fine.
save 10-19 O'ren rock: just me being an assasin. no troubles with either view or turrent in my pirate nova raider.
Overal seems smoother, nice.
edit.
and i just had a sound looping - everything freezes bug. less nice.
edit2.
omgf ... eighteen billion.. the xenon waves just keep coming. i had to jump out the sector to survive... wow.. just wow. It's not the firepower but the amount that does you in. amazing.

Invasions seem to start an hour or so in to a saved game... You'll see 'em soon enough.
After about 4 hours of repelling, and conceding 3 sectors as unwinnable, all is pretty well /normal/. Ie, Yes, definitely still being raided all over the place, but not all out genocide on the part of the Kha'ak & the Xenon anymore. Obviously I don't know what it would be like without throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the invaders.
Taking a break. My mind is wiped out. Massive, massive improvement.
Need easier access to Destroyers. Might look at the faction mods; but I hate to do that

This patch is awesome!
So many of my problems have been sorted.
Here's the improvements I have noticed:
The fps is better all round - I can use SETA at x10 and it is generally as smooth as without it - it was always stuttering before.
The plot bug where Tempestine gets stuck at the north gate in Farnham's Legend has been resolved - after about 20 mins, she sends you a message.
But watch out, if you did the plot to where you rescue the woman and play from there after installing the patch, get your ass out of the core paranid sectors! They go totally mental and destroy anything of yours in those sectors! I really want to get a few M2's to blow the hell out of them!
Assassination mission are now back and appear regularly! They can be a bloodbath - I used my Nova sentinel against four pegasus m3's and whatever the paranid TL ship is - I took out one pegasus fine, but then got slaughtered by the others! Maybe I need to start using missiles or get a faster ship? But hell, it's way more challenging!
THe Centaur can be equipped with a mobile drilling system.
The universe is alive! THere are NPCs all over the place giving me some competition and making the X economy more dynamic - before the patch, the universe was more or less static, with me making super normal profits in meatsteak cahoonas!
Xenon are invading everywhere! Heck, there should be XI missions in every sector you go to! Same with pirates - you take out some, and back up arrives. The enemies do seem to be much more deadly. Also, the weapons on capital ships seem to be more accurate which has got me killed several times.
The BBS messages are more linked in with what is happening in the universe - e.g. I read a message on BBS which said a cahoona factory had been destroyed in CBSW by kids with rocks, I checked, and yep, it was gone!
THis game seems much more intensive and immersive now - a fantastic improvement! I just hope the universe is still conquerable!
However, there are a few small problems I have:
When in turret view, I cannot fire it manually, and the graphics of the central part of the ship seem to be missing when in that view.
Also, I still get some 'readtext' in place of text for the station details, hull, shield stragnth, when I dock at a station - not really bothered by this but would like to know what's causing it.
Furthermore, when in combat with multiple ships, say 5+ ships, the fps drops rapidly, making combat difficult, even with minimal graphics settings but this is no diffrent from before - any solutions?
Therefore, overall, I am very happy and content with this patch - I, like many of you have been waiting for this for weeks and was really escited when I noticed that it was available for download! There is a God!
Thank you egosoft for all the effort you have put into this truly amazing game - never known anything quite like it - have a very enjoyable and well-deserved Christmas break! Im glad you have not let us down! Money well spent!

Great
Wow, ive noticed alot of things since 1.3, many were mentioned though so i wont rehash
but the things I noticed were the planets, they look even better now as regard to rotation, and cloud movement from what ive noticed so far
before the textures would overlap where the "seas" and the land would meet, I dont see that anymore
great job egosoft

The first thing I noticed since installing the patch, was swarms of Xenon (including P's) leaving their sectors and going on a wave of destruction. Then I noticed all the extra pirates doing the same. After trying to stem a never ending flow of Xenon and the fact that my UT's are getting destroyed, I have decided to go back to 1.2.01. 1.3 has turned X3 into a 'Shoot 'em up' type of game for me. Not my cup of tea.

Restarted a few weeks ago because of don's game stopper. So I just did the first 2 missins and was starting over. Just have a little wheat farm, biogas factory and a Silicon mine in ore belt. My 1 nova was able to take care of any problems.
Now after playing 1.3 for an hour I've got Kaack & Xenon battlecruisers everywhere and I'm sure to be fragged shortly. Why the heck do they have to turn the enemy so far up? It's not worth playing now. Is there a way to revert back to 1.201?

Fun.
Ok i havn't had anything as extreme as M2's or M1's showing up but i have had the stream of Xenon moving from secter to secter, which pales in comparison to the number of traders sprouting out.
i load up the game and think, right check my complex secters first Ore belt - Khaak Cluster jump in my Nova and kill it off. Those Khaak now bite, couple of times i was low on sheilds, further experaince with khaak clusters now lets me get within 2km and they still havn't split up, i can now destroy them on my first run
hehehhe. I havn't yet flavered the fighters, having seen red at the sight of them.
Next i look at Getsu Funu where i have a nice big massive complex (linked up the silicon and the ore asteroids there), i'm seeing one massive line of Xenon just flying through, ignoring my station and traders (thank you). However within a couple of minutes a Boron patrol engages this line and they simply start melting away. (i assume its because they are moving to a different Xenon Secter and not on the usual kill all programming). I then check out the other Secters (Zirts domain etc), and i see this long list of Xenon moving through. I continue to observe them (placed sats all over the place), and they are simply moving towards the Xenon secter North of Black hole sun. (black hole sun on the other hand has about 100 Traders moving north, idiots.)
Other than that its been a case of jumping around a lot saving my empire. Bought one hell of a lot of ships still trying to equip most of them. No slow downs in any secter (especially ore belt, asteroids plus two BIG Complex's and its smooth
).
I have however just been destroyed by the most missile happy bunch of M's *mutter*.
Going to run an experiment, how much of my empire will survive SETA overnight

I can't say much in regards to plot fixes and gameplay changes since I've only gotten as far as mission 2 due to show-stopping performance issues, but I can however happily declare that the game now runs like a champ.
In Argon Prime, where I used to typically get a framerate of around 5-10 fps doing a pan around the sector, I now get a framerate of around 25-30 fps and the constant loading stutters that drove me crazy pre-1.3 are now entirely eliminated.
Now I can run the game just fine in 1280x960 with max detail and 2X AA/AF.
Here's my rig, by the way:
Asus A7N8X Deluxe nForce 2 Motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ CPU
NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT 256MB GPU
2GB PC2800 RAM (Dual Channel Mode)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value Soundcard

The other thing that pees me off is even if you have and 30 fully kitted Elephants doing OOSD and even though you have 10 sats lighting up the entire sector and if the TL's all bunch up they won't see the enemy across the map, they can't see further than their own tripex and they just sit there while your sector TP's get decimated.
that is truly sad. They should pick up the enemy from the sat's.
now my fleet is slowly being decimated one by one. With 1.3 I will now have to dock 3/4 of my fleet and babysit the few sectors I'm doing business in wait forever to get enough credits untill I get a massive fleet for defence. sad, my playability just went down.
Another thing I noticed just now, I was within 600m of two busters and a harrier and lanched 6 sets of wasp's and none hit. I managed to take out the two busters but with hull damage and got within 200m and lanched another set at the harrier and he took off at 330/ms and outran the wasp. Now this is truly a bad joke.
I bought 3 demeters in Paranid Prime, sent them to Cloudbase to get jumpdrives and all 3 were destroyed before they got there. Had to reload.
so far, what I've noticed.
Mosquito Missile - Useless (no more range)
Wasp Missile - Useless (6 sets can't hit harrier within 600m)
UT's - Useless (unless you have 100 ships per sector in OOSD)
TP's - Useless (read above, otherwise you will lose them 1 by 1)
Sat's - Useless (unless you have 100 ships per sector in OOSD)
Possible alternative - M6 class ships can now execute trade commands (buy/sell ware/best price) but fully kitted comes out to about 15M.
I just don't know anymore, I was expecting the enemies to be a little bit more aggresive but not to this level. I might go back to 1.2.01 in order to get my sanity back.

VEEERRRRYYY NNNNNIIIIICCCCEEEE!!!!!!
I am running the game with ALL graphics options maxed (however, the ATI card I use x700? is set for max performance and not max quality) I have all ingame setting maxed, and WOWzers, what a nice looking game. I fought a Xenon battle fleet in ARGON PRIME!!!!!! Yeahoo!!!!!!!!!!!! While it was slightly choppy, it took me 3 hrs to kill ALL bad people, and this was with 5 Nova Raiders as wingmen. I used the Mamba with PBEs, and eliminated all the small fry, while my heavy hitters banged on the J and K. What a GORGEOUS sight watching all the laser fire and explosions, now I truly know what "Rockets Red Glare" looks like.
Oh yeah, also, the engine glow option is the sexiest thing ever. Now, with all the Xenon and Khaak activity, It's pucker factor 10 whever you jump into-- Oh yeah, and the PPCs look F%^&ing awesome. I feel like a knat now compared to the battleships.
Nice to know that you have to be quite the pilot in an M3 to take out and M2 or M1. The shield regen is Tough, even on the Xenon P.
All in all, thanks Eqosoft for repairing the game. Merry Christmas!!!!!!

The Xenon are back (some K's without shields
), the Pirates are more active (also some jucy Novas - yessss) and you can set intermediate products either buy or sell - very nice.
A Happy Christmas !!!!
