Que the "its ready when its ready" mindless fanboy drones!

Now quite honestly THAT is what I was expecting to hear first. The mindless fanboys raging on me that it'll be done when it's done. And let's be honest...these forums are crawling with them. They come to these forums, as most of us do, looking for the tiniest bit of hope only to be let down (again) so they start up the most oblivious polls, forum messages just to keep their hopes alive and to keep things going.

You know why?

Because they, like we all are, are fans of the game. And they do keep hope going. But, me, like others...hope is dwindling.

I'm not calling anyone out, I'm not asking for multiple screenshots. HELL...I'm not even asking for screenshots!! I'm asking for NEWS!! UPDATES!!! INFORMATION!! And I know I don't speak alone. I'm just one of many that are really voicing my opinion.

I'm not sure if the ghostly moderators will lock this thread down too...or lock me down for being a rabble rowser<sp> or tell us to disperse. But EGOSOFT...why can't you give us, AT LEAST, monthly updates??? We're not asking for <dare I say it...> a release date....we're asking for NEWS on the progression. News on gameplay...information on the game and how it's progressing.

I seriously don't think that is a lot to ask. I really, really don't.

Just look at "Aliens - Colonial Marines", its was announced the first time in feb 2008 and first release date in E1 2010 and came first now E1 2013 there are alot more games then this one.

On December 11, 2006, Sega announced they had purchased the electronic rights to the Alien franchise from 20th Century Fox.[26] On December 15, Gearbox Software and Sega announced that they were working on a completely new game based on the franchise.[23] In February 2008 the game's title was officially announced as Aliens: Colonial Marines; it was codnamed Pecan during development.[24][27]

The development team took great pains to recreate the vehicles and settings of the films by using original set designs to recreate the exterior and interior of the Sulaco and LV-426.[23] Concept artist Syd Mead, who had worked on Aliens, was hired to design areas of the Sulaco that did not appear in the film but would be used in the game.[28]

A Shacknews article dated November 21, 2008, reported that the Aliens: Colonial Marines game had been delayed, supposedly because of layoffs at Gearbox Software. However, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford insisted that development on the game continues.[29]

The fanboys are late and its not the same unless they say the words ... eh close enough lol.

Also really.. at this point with the information black out there's really only 3 things to do.. speculate on game info we don't already have... complain that the game isn't released yet and my favourite pointing out that the game will be ready when its ready so go play some thing else till then lol.

The problem here is this is starting to look like the release of Sword of the Stars II.

No Info, big hype that suddenly disappeared and no release date in sight.

SOTS2 was delayed and no info was given, when it came out finally, it was an unfinished beta project that to this day 1 year later is still junk.

No one thought it would happen to Kerberos, no one would think it could happen to Egosoft.

But I think at this point if we get the game, we will be sorely disappointed because it's quality is obviously so bad it does not warrant any updates.

Er, when was there any big hype about Rebirth? I thought the main complaint was how LITTLE information had been provided, not that the game had been massively hyped and then forgotten about...

As for your second point, I would have to strongly disagree with it. Many of Egosoft's games have been, shall we say, a little ropey on release, but they have *never* failed to patch them up to standard given time. I have no idea why you believe they're going to stop doing that with Rebirth, but I'm certainly seeing no evidence of it.

But.... I very much prefer a game that is released when it is complete and properly debugged, to a game that gets released when the marketing men insist, even though it's half-finished, riddled with bugs and - MUCH WORSE - never gets patched. So here comes the other fanboy mantra - "it's better done properly".

Incidentally (IIRC) X2 came out rather late, and Bernd had to apologise and thank the fans for not storming Egosoft HQ...

Ablion was in development for a year or so as i understand and was being developed while rebirth was too, rebirth has been ongoing since terran conflict released in 08.

So its been in development for 4 years now, 1-2 years planning ofc.

Is the game going to "out-play" for say other released games in 2013 or is the designing/gameplay still being changed and optimized or was the original plan going to be the same as it stands ?

It looks enjoyable so far but i mean if its anything like TC and AP where there's just minor bugfixes now and optimizations it'll be a little boring after a while..

Will there be new content worked on when it does release like if we're using drones now will there be different drones released often and mission expansions installed ?

I'm also wondering how far into development you guys have it so far, has it passed the half way mark or is it close to nearing completion ?

Regardless such a game needs time to develop if its not even half way done yet then it should be a rather fantastic game when it releases.

Where in any of my posts did I say release the game? GIVE IT TO US NOW REGARDLESS IF IT'S DONE OR NOT. I didn't. I asked for information regarding the PROGRESS of the development. News, updates...ANYTHING!!

I'm with the mindless fanboys in 1 respect. Release it when it's ready. I totally agree with that. I get it. I do. I just think it would be nice if EGOSOFT could take 15 minutes out of their day to update their web page with some information once a month.

Why? What information is needed regarding development? It's still being developed, they've told us that enough, and then when it's marketed we get to see the features before buying it, isn't that what really matters?

If you want more info than that, i.e. specifics, then it's another thinly veiled attempt to extract game details from the devs, which they can't do.

CBJ (one of the devs) has stated that it will be released in 2013, so it's likely that it's pretty close. There have been other more subtle signs which could be taken to suggest release is imminent as well.

we dont need a date, giving a date is hard, we need "hard-evidence", trailer and a short gameplay video, something to view and discuss about, no more words or slides, its video time.

If they cant do that them its not gona be released this year, and you dont need lot of manpower to do that, im pretty sure you dont need to bother the core devs in something like that.
