the scripts *grin*

what you should do is

a) uninstall all scripts
b) check if ANY of those scripts need the MD or script editor enabled
c1) if not goto step d1
c2) if so start a new game enable the script editor/MD and save game
d1) load game, exit, reinstall scripts "slowlly" (only a few at a time, save, exit, load, install a few more....)

alot of scripts have VERY high overhead when they first start - IFTSOS is a prime example of this - it creates a global variable array with roughly 6000 entries, and fills most of those entries with factory data

Thank you, I'll try that. But... (I'm afraid this will make me seem stupid) what's MD?

Oh, and need I actually uninstall the scripts, or is disabling them enough?

I disabled all my scripts (except XTM), and it still locks up. If it means anything, the sound also gets screwed up. It starts to loop the few seconds of the song that were playing when it locked up.

That's just another symptom of the freeze.

The reason I asked about whether it still locks up a new game is that you can also get freezes occurring if you remove scripts which the save depends on. Of course, if you start a new game you don't have that issue.

Yes, I've been starting a new game. However, the game seemed to work when I removed the XTM .dat and .cab files, and I ran the game (though, I forgot to remove the scripts), and it said that XTM couldn't detect the mod files (as expected), but it didn't freeze up. So, I reinstalled the .cab and .dat files, and I got the freeze again. Now, I'm redownloading the XTM.rar package, and seeing if that works.

Unfortunately, a fresh download of XTM seems not to help. I'm almost certain that it's the culprit (removing it fixes the problem), but I've never had this issue with it before, and I can't play without XTM. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

P.S. I'm also going to try and post over at the XTM forums, since this is almost certainly an XTM issue.

its too many scripts trying to do thier "setup" routines, setup routines often have LOTS of stuff to do, and if too many try to do so at once this happens.

if by disable you mean in the plugin manager that is sufficient, if you mean in the AL plugins list...its not

since you are using xtm i would count xtm as part of the game and only uninstall/disable the other scripts....if it doesn't work with JUST xtm then you might need to reinstall X3

the other possibility is "what has changed since last time it worked" new HD cpu etc, it ALL effects everything...just not always noticably, even new software can mess things up without being aware of it (an example would be never to uninstall "ulead dvd creator" as it will cause all cd/dvd drives to "epic fail" requiring a repair install of windows)

I found a thread about this on the XTM forums. Apparently, this happens when you install XTM before you install the 2.5 patch. I thought I had done everything in the correct order, but I guess not. Any way, I did a quick reinstall, and everything's fine now.

i have installed the xtended mod to my x3 but the new ships and sectors' name appear as readtext####### how can i fix this
please help :? :?

a) There is an extra thread for technical problems with XTM where you should post questions like this

b) Did you install the Core Mod (0.7a) AND the 0.7.4 Script Files?
Because my first guess would be that you installed only the Core files.

Cannot dock in Terran shipyards

I cant dock in terran shipyards, when I select them on a map, I see no armor or shielding and the docking entrance is 15 kilometers away. Everytime I try to dock I just get switched into the equipement dock.
I can trade with the station with the trading system extension, but I can't dock, so therefore I can't buy factories :S
I just bought the Terran Asguard and can't use it how I wish :(
Also many times when I dock anything into it (equipement dock part), I can't get it out, it gets stuck....
I tried re-installing the mod and scripts, no luck.

Edit: Thanks for the help, exactly what I needed :)

Afraid to say its a one shot mission, the prize is very big afer all. So sugest you save before you start it, just in case :)

ok what happened is i was unable to complete the mission so i went back to an earlier save and bought myself a little more firepower but it turns out that after finding the

i jumped out to fill up on e-cells and that was my save. by the time i cam back it was nowhere to be found.

so how do i go about reseting the mission director?

Hmm, as long as you didn't get a failure message, the ship should still be somewhere. Maybe it jumped on to the next sector? (the route should be rather easy to predict).

As for resetting the MD:
- Press Enter on the NumPad -> a menu opens
- At the bottom of that menu you find the Mission Director -> select it
- Again at the bottom is the option Reset Mission Director

/edit: possible problem: if you reset the MD whil the ship still exists you might at some point find 2 of them.
So I'd recommend to only reset the MD when the ship was destroyed
