Be glad there are still game developers out there that are willing to postone release because they are simply not satisfied with the end product yet. There is no EA stakeholders rush hereDiveBomberDave wrote:Will we ever get a release date?
It seems like we have been talking about this TNBT for ever.

On the other side, I agree that it seems like ages now, to get anything out of them regarding a release date, but lets call that healthy tension and with that in mind I only live approximately 20KM from the Egosoft office. Hell, I even know where it is, how's that for tension. So close, yet just out of reach

There is no instant success or wealth in X3, only patience..

Star citizen, must deliver some news. they don't have the choice.
It is a crowdfunding game so ...
Anyway, I'm waiting for Star Citizen actually instead of X-Rebirth.
And all my friends too. I tried so many time to get them on X3 but their answer was allways the same : no-multiplayer...
I think Star citizen will get more player compare to XR just because of this feature. Star citizen looks like a dream for each casual gamer looking for a cool space game.
XR looks like a hell solo space game in their eyes.
I really dont understand the communication plan about XR... So many people knows that X series are great game, but they won't try because of the learning step/ no multiplayer/ too slow gameplay.
If the game is supposed to be released this year (and i think it will not), i don't understand why they don't want to re-start the communication plan.
" troll mode on " :
Two possibilities :
1 - the game is not ready to be released on a short time and they are facing too much issues.
2 - they want to protect an amazing Feature that will change the world.
Personnaly i vote 1.

I'm curious at why there are so many people who think that Rebirth won't be released this year? I'm not trying to be snarky or anything, I'm genuinely curious. The latest concrete information that I'm aware of is the post from CBJ which has the following snippet:Toramo wrote:If the game is supposed to be released this year (and i think it will not)
(Emphasis mine) Which seems to pretty unequivocally put the release date as being sometime in 2013.CBJ, on 27th Nov 2012, wrote:What I don't have for you at this stage is an exact release date; all I can say for now is that it will be 2013.
There seems to be too many people with the belief that it won't be this year to put down to just pessimism. Is there any other hint or statement anywhere that I've missed to put doubt on CBJ's statement?
:EDIT: speling.

I am just foaming at the mouth for this game... I literally check these forums every day, sometimes multiple times a day. I hope the delays have been because of added features or ironing out issues with the new engine and not internal strife.
I love space sims and as such I will probably check out RSI's game too.... But I am afraid that I will compare it to X and it won't hold up. Sure it looks shiny and new in all of the videos but how deep will it be? X really does give you the feel that you are in a living, breathing galaxy.

Hey guys,
I ask you the same question. Why should we trust on this latest information ? CBJ told us so many times that he cannot reveal any information because the communicationplan isn't started.
troll mode : Do you remember Duke nukelm forever ? in 2005, and ok we was wrong, in 2006, ok sorry sorry, in2007 etc...
What i tried to say is :
- wait and see.
- We will play XR when it will be ready.
- My feeling, my opinion is that DS and ES will wait for the E3 + Gamescom 2013 to announce and present the game.
This will be an ultra common and classic communication plan I think …
For me the main problem about XR is not the release date, i can wait for it and im 100% sure this game will be fantastic.
The main problem was this huge communication on Gamescom 2011 and nothing after that, Why ??
I just hope that everybody, will be aware about the XR release. Because the more people they will bring, the more x series games we will be able to play.
To finish on star citizen, we got dozen of news and i think they will be on time. This game is more Casual and user friendly, by this way i will be able to play with my friend and we will be able to compare our Battle Ship
As usual i will buy and play XR but i will play it solo, slowly and with no friends to talk about the game.
That's why i'm waiting for SCZ instead of XR... Change can happen if XR reveal some incredible feature (and i hope they hide them for a big surprise !)
It is just my feeling... Understand me, it is not again a "is the game will be released or not ?" and "when ?" post. I don't take care of that.I'm curious at why there are so many people who think that Rebirth won't be released this year? I'm not trying to be snarky or anything, I'm genuinely curious. I agree but XR mustn't fall on the casual "garbage" gaming.
Here is there big challenge.
A game can be very simple on his gameplay but very hard to master.
Starcraft 2 or league of legends are this kind of games, Easy to play, hard to master.
StarCitizen looks developed by this way. We just have to wait to check if XR will follow this way too.

I totally agree! I check constantly too. XR (or at least the previous games like XAP) gives the feel of really being able to manage a space empire.snwboardn21 wrote:I am just foaming at the mouth for this game... On the other hand... SC sounds good in theory but I think it is only because there is more info out there about it. I doubt there is going to be the same level of control as in XR. Plus, SC says it is not pay to win on their website, but on the same page you can pay to have large ships on game start. What a joke. I think its going to be an upgraded p2w Eve (at least at start), despite what they are saying right now.
I'm looking forward to a release date for XR.

The question is : is this game will challenge XR and how many player will switch on it.
Anyway, like i said, i am looking forward on SC (probably because of their news) instead of XR. But i will play this two games a lot

It is so cool to think there will be big space sim soon and i'm so excited and impatient for all of them.
ARRRRRGHH i cannot wait and i'm hungry for news !!

I can turn this back on you - why should we not trust that info? CBJ doesn't have any history of lying, nor has Egosoft any history of failing to deliver on games (there was the case of a planned expansion to X2 becoming X3 instead, but that wasn't a failed delivery so much as a change of plans.)Toramo wrote:I ask you the same question. Why should we trust on this latest information ?
This has been explained several times. The marketing push for Rebirth hasn't started yet. Deepsilver won't let Egosoft release info, and don't want to - consider that they want the marketing push (when it starts) to have as much impact as possible. The more information released before the marketing push, the less impact it will have.CBJ told us so many times that he cannot reveal any information because the communicationplan isn't started.
Egosoft had to announce at some stage that they were at least working on a new game, lest speculation run riot that they had retired from the game business and were sipping daiquiris (and eating pizza) on some tropical beach rather than working on the Next Big Thing(TM). Game announcements usually precede the marketing push for the release of the game by some time, and the time between announcement and marketing is usually fairly quiet as to details of the game. The main problem was this huge communication on Gamescom 2011 and nothing after that, Why ??
:EDIT:
This is an interesting bit:-
Seems that your estimation of whether a game is on time or not depends on whether they are giving you news about development? Given that SC has only just started development, it would take a very brave person to bet on them hitting a release date.To finish on star citizen, we got dozen of news and i think they will be on time.
Again, the difference between Star Citizen and Rebirth is that for SC the people funding the game are the same people that are buying the game (more or less.) Since you and I are funding the game, we can expect to be told full details of development, and indeed the devs have a duty to do so.
It will be interesting to see how people react when SC is released. I expect that while there will be some excitement, it will be far more muted than it would be for a publisher driven release. Everything will be known about the game before it is released, so there won't be any real surprises. Compare to a publisher release, where there is the wonder of discovery of the features of a new game.

Eladan, you probably right but what i tried to explain is : we have no clue about the release date. That's all.
And the 2013 year announced by CBJ isn't a clue at all...
XR should have been released in 2012 already.
The only things we can say are estimations and feelings...
To think, to discuss, all of this help to wait for news.

I checked this forum at least every 2-3 days to for the past year or so. Not that much news read/seen on it, besides the screenshot of the week (which lasted 2 months lol) and the occasional translated interview (2 I thought)....
But still I keep coming back hahaha. Wished there was a tread were I could sign up, to send me a message when this game is actually released (hint;hint).
Kind of afraid I miss the initial release, because there is no marketing LOL. Either way I definitly wonder what this game looks like, in the end...
