It is a bit weird how passive the police were, but I guess I'll leave that to interview conditions as you guys said.
I liked that you can see the planets moving about in view when you're in a superhighway - in the back of my mind I was worrying that the highway effects would be a cover to just swap out one background-planet for another, a bit like how a black screen is used for this in X3. Very authentic feeling seeing the transition actually happening.
Also love the view on that cylindrical station he docked at, when you can see the rest of the station above. Looks absolutely gorgeous.
The "consumer compact" ship is a nice touch IMO. It was always a bit weird for me in X3, seeing civilians flying the same ships used by the military (M4/M5).

People want a logical target prioritization. If there are capitals around, the big turrets should be shooting at them. If there are no capitals around, then the big turrets should be shooting at anything else they can see.
All it would take is a simple target priority list. Hell, I just played with those last week while messing with Supreme Commander.. I enabled all weapons to shoot at any target, so ground fire units can try shooting at air. I just set the priority of air units lower than ground units for ground fire weapons, and set the priority of ground units below air units for AA weapons. Simple stuff.

anyone takea good look at those ice chunks he mines in the later half of the video? those look freakin' gorgeous.
I also noticed, for debug purposes, there's a point where the interviewer boosts past 0% shields and it automatically reloads to 70% shields, so I think it's safe to assume other things were edited for the interview.

Re the third video, the clipping is very worrying, people talk about immersion breaking with the slightest things, and here we have a big ship flying through scenery....
....and scenery disappearing....hopefully an early build but somehow I think this is not the case.
One thing I'm noticing and its getting a little bit more noticeable the more I see - everything looks like its all on the same plane.
This is space, so I want that disorientating flying upside down / at an angle to the last thing but in line with the next object feeling all the time, there seems to be a horizon with all the stations sharing the same one.
Also, the graphics right at the start are just fugly. I know its not cell shaded, but everything looks so cartoony. Looked better later on, and I love the ice field. Seems certain areas are sponsored by Warner Bros.
Space here needs more black imo.

Well I'm verey happy with what iv seen so far cause I hat the old reputation system. A accidental ppc hiting a m3 and soundly the entire race hates me. As for clipping well iv had countless cap ships destroyed by undocking and in my current game born dislikes me case my tl keep bumping into there ships on universal trade mode so as long as there fixing stuff like that of course its gonna be harder to turn a race against you but that's not bad thing and if you were serious about atack a station you'd open fire with multiple cap ships and I can guaranty more forgiving or not they not gona ignor that kinda damage directed at them

Also, I think I've finally pinpointed the crux of what bothers me about the slow line of tiny civilian ships. It's fine that they're small, I guess, and it's even ok that they're slowly and moving in a giant conga line...
The problem is that there are no other ships. There are these small civilian ships plodding along a fixed route, and there are occasional big trade ships and presumably military ships as well. But we have never seen, in any of these videos so far, any ships in between those two. I don't mind having a unique ship, but I don't want to be that special. I hope there will be more ships with actual agency flying around zones than what we've seen. It's too early to judge, but I can't help but worry about this.

For real! Especially from the transcript, it seems like there were all these moments where Bernd was actually disappointed that the guy wasn't noticing all the REALLY cool stuff in the background. LIke attacking a freighter instead of the "beautiful battleships", or pointing out how he took explosion damage. and especially when Bernd started getting excited about the drone launcher in the freight, and the guy blew it up before you could see it workingI could not help smiling at the body language - looked like he (Bernd) was ready to jump out of his seat any moment the whole time. Must be a really exciting time for the boss.

well the bits I have highlighted are the bits that I am still not too keen on.
I am hoping something is lost in translation regarding the Ren Otani character and the emphatic 'No' for the question regarding 'rename things'. The story may be all about Ren Otani, but after the story is completed (I mean the plot), it would really suck if the player could not rename his character. I understand while the plot is under way that the character name is "hey Ren, buddy!", just like the character in X3 was "hey Julian dude!", and that for those reasons it is pointless to rename your ingame character but I'm still hoping that "my" ships, stations, and the player ship can be re-named after the damn plot is over so I can get on with my sandbox game!
In my games I like to be 'me', whatever I want to name myself.

clipping ship could easily be just bug in model design. Almost all game have this. I expect a LOT of such small things. All X games have this type of "bugs". Next three months patches will fix most of them. No big deal at all.
One of the reasons using no external view is OR. They even said that now but was clear some time before. With OR you cannot control anything that supports camera view on centered object (3rd person) because canging angle also moves you in space, very bad for brain. And I believe I heard they can add that later as not all players have OR.
Defence not responding looked.. bad. But keep in mind such things are very easy to tweak based on responses.

Nothing lost in translation, Bernd is quite explicit about this. You even hear the station announcers calling you that name. But who needs those stupid sandboxes and emergent stories anyway? I'd much rather be some uber-cool space SAS dude flying down linear corridors shooting foreigners.
