User Interface
- Ability to resize information windows! I don't want to scroll down the thing when I could just make it big enough to contain the information I want.
I've a sinking feeling this kind of restricted, set in stone, interface design is due to the fact that at design time, the devs had one eye set on console conversion. Consoles have been somewhat of a blight on the quality of many PC titles recently
Any chance of getting rid of the top left monitor window that shows a picture of the ship/station/object selected. At least make it switchable, it is in my opinion unecessary.
All these little nicities are a drain on everyones processors/graphics card computations
When one door closes, another slams in your face.
"They say I am so far out that even the Hubble Telescope can't see where I am coming from"
Why do we still have the same warp effect from xbtf!?
Its not that its a bad effect but the transparency/image looks very tacky as its all washed out and not smooth at all, looks like its using 256 colours, same goes for various other reused stuff, tackyness.
Not sure if anyone has already suggested this...but how about having the ability to mount weapons on the factories themselves. This would save the expense of having to buy ships to patrol sectors that do not have police/security or whatever. Maybe each factory would have different spec weapons that it could carry more powerful for the hi-end facs. Alternatively you could include a it in the complex pack that allows you to join factories together.
Read the list on the first page only assuming it gets updated so this one may be somewhere else. Its not a biggie, but can we have some sort of graphics for travel through a jump gate? It kinda ruins the atmosphere and sense of speed if we are just taken to a black screen for a few seconds and then appear magically in a new sector.

I do update it regularly (a few times a day actually) and that one has been mentioned before. I left it off originally because I was under the impression most people turned off the warp tunnel anyway so they decided to leave it out this time around. However it's been mentioned by a few people now so I'll put it in when I completely redo the post later.
Yes, I said redo the post I think it'll be more useful and make more sense if I sort it into a "Bugs/Glitches" section and a "Suggested Improvements" section. Right now, though, it's off for some sleep
For now I would settle for optimisation of the game engine so that is will run faster that 10fps to 20fps (Depending on if I’m looking at a planet or a space station) on the minimum / recommended spec. Or even the ability to turn off the bump maps / shadows and turn down the res. So far the game seems exactly the same as x2 apart from you don’t dock most of the time, There's no cockpit (not that this bothers me personally) The game engine doesn’t appear to be that different apart from the "real flight space physics" which personally I find irritating. It just doesn’t seem like a sequel its more X2 with bells and whistles at to top it of you needs a monster PC to get anything out of it. But then I can honestly say I’m not in a position to properly judge the game yet as for the most part it has been unplayble due to stuttering frame rates. I really do hope there is more to it I just fancy grfx but I suppose ill never know unless I can get a playable frame rate out of it ... Rant over
System spec
2.5ghz P4
1024mb Ram
128mb Geforce FX5900xt (Now overclocked to 400 / 800)
80g h/d with 12g free (Defraged before install)
Version 1.2 X3 Reunion
Tweaked Grfx driver 84.25 or something (Increases performance in BF2. Doom3, HLF2, Quake 4 and Fear)
I don’t want to upset anyone I hope everyone who has bought the game is enjoying it but for some reason just can get it to run at a descent frame rate on my system where everything else runs fine

This is only a suggestion and don't do it if its too much work but maybe you could rewrite some of suggestions we make to be a bit more concise, I know I tend to make them longer than needs be.
Anyway im not sure this has been mentioned but I just found out that when sending a ship fitted with a jump drive to jump there's no energy cell display or flashing white sectors.

Er...there's a warp effect???
All I get when I enter a gate or use the jump drive is a black screen as the new destinations appears to load in! I thought it was a bit odd that I could still hear occasional sounds while the screen was still black.
My system specs are:
Athlon 64 FX-57
2Gb system Ram
Two SATA 400Gb Barracuda drives
Two GeForce 7800GTX in SLI modfe (could SLI be the issue?)
nVidia driver version 70.02 (guess I better check out the latest 80.xx drivers too)
Electro wrote:I mean the vortex effect that happens just after you enter.
I see a very brief view of the gate rapidly approaching, then all is black until I exit the gate. Should I be seeing a vortex effect all the way from entering a gate to exiting - like you get in Freelancer? I always thought a black loading screen was totally crap and lazy in a game of this stature. I haven't played X2 so I no not what to expect
It seems to be a problem with Overlaying textures. the main menus fps can drop down relly low with just an image. if u go to custom game the fps rises back up.
I'd like to see the ability to salvage insurance within mission 2, so you don't get driven to distraction by the repetitive banter and have to do the whole mission over again. After all it costs 3000 per hit and means you can concentrate on the bit thats giving trouble (specifically the pesky planet bit for me).
Wellard.
PS. all gfx settings minimum, res minimum and I still can't keep track of 'em. Oh well try, try again.
This is a slightly weird problem.
I was playing on the Quickstart scenario. Got both ships (buster + merc)
to dock. Tried to switch equipment between ships.
The Merc already has a Trade 1 Software extension in the ship.
(i think its there permanently in all TS ships) According to the list that
comes up when exchanging equipment the merc doesnt have a
Trade 1 installed. I go to install one and then the Trade 1 disappears.
Bit strange.
Also
- Can we please have a return to the days of X2 when you could hit the ESC key constantly and end up undocking?
Press the DELETE key, this seems to do what ESCAPE did.
what about a new type of drone that you can use to block all transmissions from a ship you are trying to cap so your race
ranking doesn't go down if you try to cap that races ship
the drone would have to be pretty expensive but would have
all standard drone features except weapons and cound be recaptured/recharged, and destroyed if the target could hit it
i would buy it just so i don't have to kill ten pirates to rapair
my race ranking after killing just one freighter
Suggestions for Patch 1.3? Hmm....finishing the game would be nice. As it is, it only feels like they got around to doing half of it.
They need to overhaul the early stages and introduce proper in-game tutorials.
They also need to completely overhaul the pilot portraits. These are a joke and look at good 5 years old. Compared to the lovely space environments and ships they just look horrible, and the lip syncing is way beyond acceptable.
Also, while ship explosions look nice - the weapon effects such as lasers are completely pants - a good 10 years old.
Seriously, it looks like they got a lovely space engine and then just cobbled the rest of the game together around it.
