Hi All!

I am update my X3:TC (ENG) to ver 3.0. Install X Plugin Manager. Download this "Universal best...." script and install it thrue Manager.
In game script visible. I can run it and find any "best sell" ware. But "best buy" don't work. After selecting any ware, i see "The selected ware can't find on any known stations. Perfom another search?". I have equpped best by locator and best sell locator, explore 7 sectors with stations...
One year ago, i play X3:TC ver. 2.0 with this script and all was fine.

Can anyone help me and say, how i can fix "Best buy" part of this script?

Unless you have advanced satellites in place in other sectors, only your current sector can be checked (and this script is of very little use).

Hm.. A U sure?

1) alex2069 wrote:
"Usage
Commands through the Trade section on your command console. Select either Universal Best Buy or Universal Best Sell, then select a ware.
Requires that the ship have Best Buys Locator or Best Sells Locator installed."
Nothig about sattelites, like in Ware Hunter script (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=239956)
2) i used it year ago and don't set any sattelites (i think :) )
3) best sell work OK. best by don't.

Find one interesting thing: if i try to find any ware, also producing in my current sector (for example: mass driver aminition), Best Buy works! It find me two stations, selling this, in 2 jump away!

Every experience I have with it is that it requires satellites. If it doesn't, that's cheating, and I have no interest. I've never seen it give me information on any system that I had no satellite or ship in. As an example, I have no satellites or ships in any Terran systems, but I have 20+ Terran systems mapped; it can't find Electro-Magnetic Plasma Cannons anywhere, and I'd be willing to bet good money at least one of the Terran systems I have mapped is selling it.

On the other hand, it can find Impulse Ray Emitters in the systems I have satellites in just fine.

If you have no ships in those systems, I wouldn't call that working, I'd call that a bug. It is not a bug I have ever seen myself.

As far as I can tell, it's working fine. If you want a cheating script, I don't think this is the one for you.

Thanks for answer!

Yea, maybe i search for cheating script... year ago, a played by trader. 3 weeks trade, jump to unknown, trade, jump to unknown, fail, jump to unkonwn, fail... after 3 weeks, i get some credits and buy small solar plant. And understand: i can't one more "jump, trade fail" :)

About this script. Ok. There is no problem set some sattelites.
One answer: are this satellites must cover all stations in the sector, or one satt per sector will be enough?

One ship or advanced satellite (I *think* it has to be advanced; I haven't tried it with navigation sats) in a sector can communicate with all stations you know about that sector.

I want to add my thanks to the previous in this thread.

What I really like in that script is the user interface, colors are well used and it's very easy to read (although I dunno what colorblind would say).

I took the liberty to tweak it a little cause I was annoyed that it only shows you stations in sector where you have assets.

Now it shows me all known stations, but I only have the price and the quantity for stations in sector where I have assets, the others says '??'
I wouldn't say I scripted that beautifully, but at least it does what I want.

Also, I will translate your t files in french in case you're interested, i could send them to you.

Any chance this can be modified to work with XTC? It only find wares from the sector that I'm currently in. Thanks, would very much love to use this!

If you would have read my previous post, you would have seen that this script only shows stations in sector where you have assets (ships, stations, etc...).

If you have only one vessel, you will only see stations where you are in, that's expected.

(It's the reason why I tweaked it)

Oh, I SO misread your post.

In any case, I briefly looked through the OP script and I found lots of scans starting from Kingdom End (doesn't exist in XTC) and Aldrin. Did you bypass those? Think you could send me a link to your version regardless?

Thanks Excelsior82.
I have further modified the scripts to work with XTC and any other mod that modifies the universe.
It is now completely dynamic, regardless of sectors or their number.

But I also modified it so that you can only select items that can actually be bought or sold - and only at known docks. So, for example, even if you can buy a certain ship, you won't see it in the Ships list until you actually discover a shipyard that sells it.
(What I really wanted to do was to make it list items that are known to the player, regardless if they can be bought or sold.. but couldn't find a way to determine the knowledge of wares, as they are not objects. If anyone has an idea, I'm all ears).

I removed caching to make it truly dynamic (because the lists are actually based on your knowledge now), but also optimized it in some places. There's a slight delay for some lists, but it's not annoying.

It's also using Graxster's library, lib.grax.getallsectors. So thanks for that!

Anyway, anyone wants it just pm me, I'll see what I can do.

Yah, I should be credited for that, this is a bug I added, but I corrected it yesterday.

Hey, I think I could use your tweaks, cause I think there's room for a bit of optimisation (I hope alex2069 won't take it wrong, I'm software developer and I write bad code everyday).

I used to have this script, it was very helpful... then my computer died. Now that I have it fixed, I was looking for this script, but the page to download it from was not working. After much searching of the interwebs I have found a copy of it.

http://www.3enfamille.net/xchange/Cpt-K ... 251_FR.spk

It was listed on a french website, but it has the -44 English text file with it, and seems to work fine with my game patched to 3.0

Major thanks for taking the time to post a new download location, Cochran.

And also, a big "Thank you!" from me to the author of this mod. Extremely useful! :)

This is the link offered when I clicked on "If your download does not start, click here". The auto download start doesn't work either. Original URL from first post in this thread for the spk.
Look 4 posts above this one (3 posts above yours that I quoted) :) There is an alternative download location.

thanks builder680, I had seen the alternative but as soon as I saw the _FR I didn't bother reading further.

OMG what a *fantastic* script!!! Exceedingly useful, time and pain saving. I wonder why Egosoft didn't decide to include something like this? Okay, it's a huge shortcut but can't one earn something like this? Credits become too easy after a certain point, I reckon there should be software rewards for completing certain missions. The one that earns this one should be nearly impossible teehee.
