I've had a quick look around the forums but couldn't see any posts that specificaly dealt with the following two features (nay bugs!) that I have noticed with SDS: -

1) After fitting a freighter with the SDS software and giving it its orders it is possible to relieve the freighter of the software, yet it will continue to carry out the SDS as commanded. As long as you don't try to give the freighter further orders it will continue regardless. So it is feasable to buy the software but once and carry it around with you using it each time you set up a new SDS transport.

2) The transfer of funds from a destination station to a source station will only take place if there are sufficient funds in the destination station. yet the delivery will take place regardless!! I noticed this behaviour between a Crystal Fab and an SPP. The SDS transport running between the two was set to charge 1518 per crystal and was typicaly transporting 40 crystals [worth 60,720cr]. If the SPP has more than 60,720cr it pays up and the credits are transfered to the Crystal Fab. But if the SPP has less than that it still accepts all 40 crystals yet no transfer of credits takes place.

Perhaps SDS is supposed to work this way. But if not, perhaps these issues should be brougt to the script writer(s) attention.

Anyone else noticed the above?

As mentioned on the previous page, the original script writer is not supporting this anymore. Since we've signed it, that means it falls on us to support it. Ticaki thought it would be better to just rewrite one from scratch knowing what we know now about how best to make it work. The new version, ASDS (Advanced SDS), is currently available in german for beta testing more or less. You can read a few user comments about the ASDS on the previous page in this thread. (It's very good)
We have no ETA on when we'll be able to sign new scripts for X2:TT, my best guess is not until after the expansion is out since we're all working feverishly on making the expansion as cool as possible by putting a ton of great scripts in there. Trust me, you'll like the stuff we're putting in the expansion a lot better than getting a new verison of SDS right now.
I'll touch base with ticaki again and see about getting an unsigned english version of ASDS available for you guys. But if you don't want to use an unsigned version, if you don't mind using the currently SDS for the time being, that would be great. It has a few lingering bugs, but it's still very useable.
Cheers. :)

Thanks Burianek, yes I had read about the ASDS script that is currently being developed (my compliments to Ticaki on the work done so far).

I just wanted to make Ticaki aware of these issues with the existing script in case they had passed beneath the radar with regard to the new script. My apologies if not.

I look forward to seeing ASDS [in signed form] and am happy to continue with SDS in its current form until then.

Whilst I am on the subject of delivery software, I was wondering whether anyone had thought of writing a script, lets call it "Capital Ship Delivery Service" (CSDS perhaps?), where you could instruct a vessel to fill ships of M6 size and above with a specified quantity of cargo. For instance an M6 on Sector Patrol might have a little M5 running backwards and forwards from the local SPP(s) filliing it with energy cells whilst it patroled the local sector.

Yes it is tedious alright.

What I do to make it not so bad is send my Hercules carrier to Paranid Prime. I buy freighters there if possible, so I can equip them with SDS. If not, I send a bunch of ships from my carrier to dock at the EQ dock, and buy SDS for all my fighters and such. Then when I jump to the sector I'm deploying SDS freighters in, and have the freighters land on the carrier, then transfer an SDS from a fighter to the carrier to the freighter, repeat, reapeat, repeat.

It's still a very tedious workaround, but it's faster then sending every freighter I buy down to paranid prime to be outfitted there.

It definitely needs to be available in more than one shipyard.

Esp since that shipyard is closed to the player at the start of the game (thus forcing anyone wanting to use SDS to take up combat, preventing SDS from being used in a pure trade game).

Ok, here's the link to the trial beta version of ASDS:

http://www.x-scripts.de/dload.php?actio ... file_id=38

I tried to translate the german a little bit, so it will run on your english games. It may not be the best translation though, so you'll have to play around with it a bit to figure out everything about how it works. Have fun! Let us know what you think. There are a lot of feature adds from the old version of SDS. You can use one ship to supply multiple factories in a chain now, I think. :)
Cheers.

Would it be possible to script SDS to use trading stations? I have a lot of self contained loops supplying all my shield and weapon fabs. At times the AL dock at my stations, buy my product (even though it's set to maximum and not to trade with other races). This usually happens to my cahoona bakery and crystal fab and they cause the next factory on the chain to flash yellow until they have restocked and delivered. My worst problem is in ore belt where I have 4 silicon mines and 3 ore mines on the highest yield roids and my 2 power loops are always pushed to the limit.

If I could use the trading station, I would have all product going there as a central distribution point which would cascade it to the other stations and I won't have to worry about product being pilfered.

Can you please upgrade SDS for X3 so it can be used with trading stations and EQ Docks?

As mentioned above, SDS in its current format is no longer being updated. A completely new delivery service script is being developed. If you like, you can check out the beta version of ASDS, I'm pretty sure it supports trading between equipment docks. However, it's still a beta, and unsigned.
Cheers.

It works, but it also broke every single factory I used it on. Every factory it delivers from AND to, broke. Their energy buyers just sit in one place and don't respond when you tell them to buy energy for the best price. Stay away from this, don't use it! Huge waste of my time. I now have two entire sectors of broken factories that took me all day to finally set up, all of them broken. So... thanks for that.

Is there a way to fix this? I don't know what to do!
