Do you play with bonus plug-ins / scripts?

The signed scripts started as unsigned scripts, so to please all of those that use signed scripts, Egosoft needs to make an effort to the scripting part, so that the players can continue to provide egosoft with scripts to sign. This is not bad when you think of it, it improves the community as they are allowed to help improve the game, plus Egosoft receives a lot of software for free. Good for both ends.
And why are people so afraid of unsigned scripts???? I never once had any problems with them. As long as you know what you are doing, and backup your files, it should be safe.

BPH, SDS, Galaxy Trader and the Xai Factory Orders script only. The rest are game unbalancing (in my own view of course).
There is a major lack of fluff scripts around. I like fluff! I dont want anything more modding the gameplay, trading or combat - just things to see in the x-universe thats all. Something a little out of the ordinary that doesnt go any further than simply being interesting or funny or both.
Just one big asteroid somewhere that has something unique inside it. A planet that, on the far side, has a hidden derelict station that the player can find and nick stuff from. A planet that has rings that go up instead of across (like Uranus)! A different coloured station....

I use both signed (bonus) and unsigned scripts. One thing I would like to see is clearer information on compatability with the game version. Not everbody runs 1.4. There are some things I still prefer in 1.3 over 1.4 (more balanced rewards for missions, speed balance between M3's and TS's, etc). I tried the sector patrol script with v1.3 of the game. It ran up to a point (no additional command slots in 1.3 for a start). I have only recently upgraded the game to 1.4 and I still have 1.3 on a different partition on the hard drive. Same computer so I don't think there's a copyright problem with doing that. It is interesting to compare the two versions. I use the bonus BPH, sector patrol script and trader script in v1.4. As I have the script editor enabled in both versions, I run a script to remove the 'modified' symbol, plus a couple of other unsigned scripts.

I didn't vote as my game ends up part way between choices 2 and 3.
I tend to download almost every script I find, but then I pick and choose what I install. I realise that any script can seriously alter my game so I ensure I back up those important files (T, Scripts and all game saves) prior to installing a major script...
I'm not overly worried about 'cheat' type scripts as I have a choice as to whether I use them or not. I have a little script that could gve me as much money as I want, but I rarely if ever use it as it ruins the game.
Something like Xai Automining is a great script that many will regard as cheating but I find it assists in my mining efforts. Perhaps I can clear a sector quicker, but it's still an hour or two...prolonging the mining by 2-3 hours doesn't increase my enjoyment... Although I can use it to remotely mine a sector while I do something else somewhere else, I rarely use that facility...
Above all, it's about player choice. At least scripts give players that choice to customise the game as they wish.

I use mainly the signed scripts, however I was using reven's gunnery script b4 it was signed plus I run a couple of other unsigned scripts that balance the universe and make playing more of a challenge.
So I voted for everything I can get hold of though I don't feel that is how I actually play the game, perhaps an option that included signed scripts + a few unsigned scripts would of been fairer.
I feel sullied and all dirty now, so I'm off for a bath!!!

Wow, been awhile since I've posted.. but I just had to take the poll:)
I have three types of savegames I keep records of.. Right now, I have 64 different savegames (think i need to clean a few of those up).. Some are using Adrenaline mod by SteelRush, admin of www.xscripting.com, Buriank's (i think i got that right? sorry if not) Laser/Economy mod.. Other scripts use custom scripts I wrote myself for myself - like add money, add ships, upgrades, station, ware to station, etc... simple little stuff. Then I have a savegame folder that holds the savegames from the storyline, which have the signed scripts installed.
Depending on my mood and what I want to play.. I either mod my way through it (adrenaline rocks!), I play in my custom universe (im modding a mapped universe, hope to share it someday, maybe a few months), or I continue the storyline and continue to build my empire.
Since I just completed Half Life 2 (wow, 6 hours of non-stop thrilling action, even a few goose bumps), I'm going back to my X2 ways of spending my evenings. Got a few factories to setup and some Khaak ass to kick.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Everyone!

I use a combination of signed and unsigned scripts, but only those that enhance the gameplay, reduce the tedium, and increase the fun factor. So like a lot of others, I fall somewhere between 2 & 3.
For example, I use the sector trader option of the Trader MKIII signed script, but I don't use the Universe Trader option because I think it's too much like free money (has anyone ever lost a UT to enemy action other than the odd one that strays into a Xenon sector?).
An unsigned script I like allows two remote ships to exchange cargo if one has a transporter device installed, which helps to remove some of the tedium. This feature, actually an expanded version where you can have two remote ships docked in the same stations exchange equipment, should really be part of the basic game, IMO.
And I can't understand the antipathy towards the Engine Tuning Kit. Do most of you even know how it works? It requires energy cells to operate, only gives your ships a short boost in speed, and reduces your shields until they can recharge. It allows you to engage an enemy that's faster than you, which is like the original afterburner that was in X-BTF.
My main reason for using it, though, is because I'm playing in a custom universe, and I'm not using jumpdrives. At all. Hence, for example, when taking an assassination mission, I need to determine my shortest route to the target, whether I can catch it at all, and how much energy my ETKit will need. IMO, jumpdrives have only served to make the X-Universe seem a lot smaller. Not having jumpdrives forces the player to take a more strategic view of the game. Imagine not being able to jump into a distant sector the instant one of your ships or factories comes under attack. A jumpdriveless universe has made space feel like, well, space. Big and dangerous! And a lot more fun.

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.
