Do you play with bonus plug-ins / scripts?

Post by BurnIt! »

Hi everyone,
once again we seek for ways to satisfy our curiosity. This time:

What is your primary way of playing X2?

Moslty signed. I use a few unsigned scripts that make life easier. Like Auto mining and Fleest support cammands. I come from another game where modifications have a lot of POWER and in consequence there are a lot of THing that can go WRONG ruining gameplay, so I am very weary

Im guessing most folks will use the odd script or two but only the signed stuff, although interestingly Ive just remembered my vote was faulse and Im using an unsigned script oooppps!

Just using all the official updates and Bonus Material.

I do however run my X2 Stats (company logging) script occasionally but it doesnt modify the game in anyway it just creates a log of all my assests.

At the moment I´m playing pos.1.
I have however, voted for pos.2 because there are one or two scripts that I would only use if it didn´t remod my game eg.I would only consider using signed scripts.

something in between option 2 and 3

I installed all the signed sc... aeh ... bonus material and use most of them.

Enabled the script editor only for 2 or 3 scripts (old gunnery crew, banshee, autominer) but only really used the gunnery crew script.

Signed scripts only. Don't like to risk the other stuff and besides, I'm not really comfortable using the script editor. By the way, loosely related: I hope we keep getting a few more signed scripts because if we have to wait for X2 TR (and that's fine so long as it comes out as a finished package when it does) then we might as well enjoy some new plugins to keep us coming for more. I restarted the game and it's really different with all the signed plugins. Early on it's all about the MK3 Trader. Those things wake more than any factory... OK, now I'm ranting and way off topic. Sorry.

in my latest game i just use the signed script. Before ive used lots of other things, but i have chosen for it, because i heard rumors of a statistics database supported by Egosoft and was only accepting non modified save games...

And its more challeging without activating the script editor... you could for instance cheat some money or something in a bad mood...
And as Logaan does, i use his stats site too, but to create that log i simply save first activated the script editor later :)

I voted all signed, because I use most of the signed scripts, and some unsigned ones like Fight Command MK III and Xaicorp advanced AI.

My main game contains only signed scripts because of my lvl5 status i want to be sure im experencing what other players are experiencing. Which im sure you can see the sence in.

However i maintain a modded game too, which i use to mess around my own scripts and other peoples. There are several scripts such as those made by Xai that i think would be great additions to the game.

I tend to look for scripts that add features rather than makes a feature obselete. Scripts that expand the game rather than ruin it. Which unfortunately is what 70% of the scripts do, the remaining 30% are fantastic. The tuner release that got signed is one script i dont use because i personally regard it as a cheat thats not in the best interest of the game as a whole. I was actually surprised it got signed in the first place.

I just use the signed scripts. I only activated the script editor once a long time ago and I've had the modified tag since then. I have not changed anything using the script editor.

hmm.......my first post ! I'm breaking the silence. :D I just like flying around...round and round and...round  and ocassionally shooting something. There's a LOT of space to do that in this game, and the space and ships are beautiful, so i'm happy!!!!

I only got what's sent along from Ego, half of it I don't even know what
the heck it is and I've never turned on the scripteditor either...
I don't have any intention to use any either since if Egos scripts are the
standard, then undocumented and un-userfriendly is the standard...
and asking for official scripts here I've learned is a roundrobin search...
Split PR: It's called kickin' ass and crushing the skulls of any ass who steps on my toes.
That seems to work, people dig it.

All signed scripts, with the exception of Rei Ayanami's Xenon Mod, which in my eyes, really should be a signed script.. :D (I mean, who wouldn't want the X-Shuttle back in their game, and the old Xenon / Pirate models :P)

I use signed scripts - downloaded all of them but do not use all of them.
Having completed the story and own goals in several games anything that adds to the challenge / prolongs the game play I am all for.
Nearly activated the script edditor for the Gunnary Add in until I saw it was up for signing.

No. 3

I'll run anything that sounds good but I mainly run my own. A lot of Xai's scripts are must have and the new gunnery script is proving to be valuable too. As far as mods I run a combination of Goner Secrets, RA's new ships and the old Xenon models.

I use the standard signed scripts, and I often play and make some custom galaxies...

  • Only some signed scripts because of level 5, so I've got good games for testing.

Like above only those that add good features to the game play.

This game is the second time round for me......first time round I completed the plot and then it started getting a bit samey, so I meddled with the script editor. It was fun for a couple of days, then VERY boring....too rich too powerful too easy.

Signed Scripts / Bonus Plugins - Whatever you prefer to call them, they are a useful addition to the X2 game in that the script developers are trying for the most part to add content which complements or enhances the existing gameplay. With a couple of exceptions, I believe the bonus material is of excellent quality and add dimensions to the game which mean that the average player has a greater choice of paths to take in order to become the universe's top trader or fighter.

The GREAT thing about these bonus plugins is they are optional. This means I'm not forced to use the unbalancing scripts like the tuningkit .

Toastie out.
