If only I had such balls, to muck with X2 scripting.
I can't explain it either - maybe noone else noticed, since everyone probably just hits "Yes to All".
As a resolution to this situation, I just restarted my Atreus' Clouds sector trader, and there's a new interface behavoir (for me): selecting a sector. Before, I'd just turn the software on, and presto, it goes a-trading. Now, it asks me to pick a sector, and blammo - some smelly Boron is piloting my formerly pristine Vulture.
So chalk this one up to a PEBCAK error.

That is the new script, all right. You were running the old one, or part of it, before.Duodecimal wrote:If only I had such balls, to muck with X2 scripting.

Don't know why the dates showed funny, though.

I guess I've found a problem with UT and player owned equipment docks/trading stations.
I bought an equipment dock, added the PPC class weapons to it and maxed the price so my traders would buy and drop them there. I didn't put enough money into the dock at the time (was kinda broke after the dock purchase).
So my UT bought a load of weapons, jumped to the dock and seemed to get stuck there, landing, starting, landing, ...
I guess it couldn't sell the weapons due to missing credits, started, checked for best price, landed again, ...
The problem went away after I put enough money into the dock. I don't know if this counts as a bug or my own sillyness, but I thought you should know

I don't know. Sounds strange.
Unless you're talking about the message the sector trader will send you from time to time saying that it can't find any more trading opportunities in the sector it is in and it asks you for help.
If this is the case, move it to a new sector and then restart the sector trader, and (hopefully) off it will go.

It sounds like you are running the old MkIII trader script. Do your traders have a pilot name? In the trade menu, is there a line for "Start Universe Trader" ?Cobraking001 wrote:nope, that what it used to do. What happens now it send me the msg and then stops and i have to reactivate them.

Lets say I go ahead with my plan to start mobile mining and I end up with a TL with a few thousand ore/silicon in its hold. Could I then summon any Universal Traders I had, dock them in the TL and share the silicon among them, would restarting the trader command then get them to sell all the silicon for me at the best rate, or would it just clog up their cargo holds forever?

If you weren't asked to overwrite files then you didn't install it to the correct folder.
First of all, make sure you're all patched up before installing the upgrade.
Secondly, you said you accepted the default folder, you quite possibly don't have the game installed in the default folder, the easiest way to check is do a search (windows-f) for files and folders containing "x2" then in the advanced options make the "type of file" drop-down box say "folder". If you get folders in 2 different locations then one of them is your game install, and the other one is where the script files ended up.

I am updated to 1.4. This is the install path C:\Program Files\EGOSOFT\X2 - The Threat so I do not know what is going on.frymaster wrote:If you weren't asked to overwrite files then you didn't install it to the correct folder.

KarlHemmings:
The list of changes are in the sticky at the top of the forum.
jrbob:
To see if you've installed it to the correct folder, go into the scripts folder in your game folder and see if there are a bunch of files that start with plugin.autotrade.
Those are the sector/universe trader scripts.
If they're not there or if it doesn't appear to be working in your game, odds are you tried to install it to the wrong directory. No one can tell you where the game is installed on your hard drive, you'll have to look around for it yourself. But when you installed the patches, where did you install them?

Yes I have the files and I checked them by running the install to another folder on my desktop and moving them to the correct folders. But still no go. I am just going to uninstall and reinstall the game and see if it will work then.Burianek wrote:

Thanks all for the help

EDIT The light bulb just came on. The installer was running to, C:/PF/EGOSOFT/X2
It should be going to C:/PF/Enlight/X2
