If X2 is anything like XT I Imagine it will take some time to get money / missions / up the ratings:)
I Hope :?
Just as a small poll to see if I am "bad  " for ignoring my missus and daughter (who tells me I am regularly  ) whiilst playing the game how often are people intending on playing this game and for how long.
I personally will be spending 1 -2 hours a night most nights unless I get the  from my missus

It has taken me a long time to get 500+ hours of play on XT :D

UNfortunately due to external influences (i.e. girlfriend) I think between 5 and 10 hours will be all I can manage. Of course I may attempt to get her interested seeing as she used to play Elite (many years ago). Might just happen..... :D

well the other alternative may be better then. AS she is a doctor, she works horrendous hours and needs to sleep a lot. I am a practicing insomniac and dont sleep all that much (although much more now than I used to). Quite often I let her go to bed and then put the Pc on for a couple of hours. Works very well unless I wake her when finally going to bed which understandably doesn't go down too well

Sounds like a great relationship! :D

I have a bit more time at present as my wife is pregnant and soon to deliver our second child, she's very tired and goes to bed early.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to use all the time for X.

Well, one assumes you were doing SOMETHING other than playing X during those nights... :-)

Well, I aim to have my long term average up above 20 hours per week. This will be built upon the foundation of 14 - 16 hours per day for the first week, and then decreasing to 3 - 4 hours per day on weekdays, with a bit more at the weekends.

Then, a period of initial frustration will set in. X2 will be cursed at and ignored for 24 hours. I will be stuck on something. I will ask the forum where doubtless many people will be ahead of me and will be able to help. I will attack X2 again with renewed vigour and maybe book a few more days off to maximise the experience.

This will continue at maybe 2 - 3 hours per day for a long while. I'll then finish the plot. A few more weeks will pass whilst the empire is completed to my satisfaction. Then I'll be distracted, maybe go on holiday, a new game purchased perhaps. X2 will sit idly in it's case. However, after a couple of weeks, a lingering sense of guilt will become more prevalent, and questions will run through my min "What if I had placed that factory there? What if the Boron weren't there anymore? Do the Goners really need that temple?" I will be compelled to return to action, and start the game again.

After I've checked the forum and relied on other players to help me squeeze as much as possible out of the game, a couple of years will have passed. I will then again become a very regular visitor to the foum, and start whining about when X3 or X-OL will be published.

How strange I can easily plan this aspect of my life for the next 2 years, but I have no idea what's going on with the rest of it. Oh well, just a question of prioritising.... :P
