If you can get hold of X-btf then get it (if the price is right), it gives you some insight and feeling of the X-Universe and it's background, and it's a great game to play of corse.
Then again X2 will be released in a month or two....I hope :D

Cheers

I restarted XBTF a while back and found that, after trading in Teladi space it proved to be VERY profitable to go south and trade with the Split. This made me a fortune in very little time, which allowed for several ship upgrades.

Some people may mention selling your shield and start trading with that money. It did not work for me, my ship exploded without shielding due to hull damage. Anyway, after you have got a few credits to upgrade your shields and guns go and whack some Xenon butt, which is very profitable, too.

I'd go nuts waiting for X2; luckily having never played "X" I'll not have to wait for X2: it'll be out by the time I finish X:BTF and X-T. 8)

Whenever I discover a game thats apart of series I always try to play the previouse incarnations first. I find it helps me enjoy the latest version even more if i'm familiar with the games history.

If you can get your hands on a copy of X-Gold then go for it as X2 looks like its going to raise the stakes in the genre of space fighter/trader sims. :D

If it IS, then Egosoft (and their publishers) aren't doing their job properly. The main reason X-Gold is hard to come by is that the publishers (THQ) didn't have a clue what they were doing with it--no advertising, limited distribution.
