X4 Steam Soundtracks question
I have most of the X4 soundtracks on Steam. I would like to be able to combine some or all of the tracks into a single album and have them play in random order, for my background music for X4 (I don't like combat music, and I like to listen to songs in their entirety instead of having them change abruptly when I leave a sector or land at a station). Is there a way to do this?

Erm. You can just disable music in x4, and play the album in a normal music player in background. If you purchased soundtracks, they're stored as normal files somewhere and you can copy them elsewhere on your system.Falcrack wrote: ↑Wed, 23. Steam also has a built-in media player with automatic access to all soundtracks you've downloaded through Steam, though I think it only lets you play a single album at a time.
Unless otherwise stated, statements I make about the core game are surmised from observation of behavior.

Re: X4 Steam Soundtracks question
Best thing to do would be to copy the soundtracks from the Steam folder into your main music folder, where your media player of choice can add them to your library (or add mapping in your media player to see the files in the Steam folder). Set the music volume in X to zero, leaving the sound FX volume normal. Then simply put all of the X music into a playlist on your media player and hit shuffle, and you'll have a full suite of randomized X music (coming from your media player) and still have the sound FX from X (since you only muted the music).

That was the thing I was trying to get around, the limitation of only playing a single album at a time. But I can get around it using the built in Windows Media Player, so I think I'll just use that.TruePikachu wrote: ↑Wed, 23. Probably gonna mix in a bunch of Eve Online tracks too if I can get a hold of them.
