Diplomacy Feature Dynamic relation
First question:
Is the players reputation Dynamic?
If so, can we switch this off?

Re: [TESTREQUEST] Diplomacy Feature
I don't understand the question. The player's reputation with other factions is, and always has been, "dynamic", in that it changes depending on your actions. And no, you can't turn that off, because that would mean you could do anything you wanted without any consequences.

Removed from the test request since it doesn't really belong there.
I presume you are referring to the Farnham's Legacy type dynamic relations, which are not mentioned in any of the diplomacy information so no you cannot switch it off, since its not included.

Yep Ketraar gets it, that is what I was afraid was going to happen with X4, so glad it isn't and we dont need a mod (or any jumping through hoops editing config.xml) to correct the problem.
A few of us mentioned it in the old sticky topic about the upcoming diplomacy update, but had no response.
Good to hear

Re: Diplomacy Feature Dynamic relation
So the whole system is player driven? If the player doesn't do anything, relations between factions and the player don't change at all? That actually makes me sad, I want the other factions to do everything you can do to them to the player too. It's really boring otherwise.

I think the "Protocol Null" thing, when activated, can cause random changes between factions to occur. I think that introduces an element that is not player driven in the outcomes, but it is player initiated.Otas Elite wrote: ↑Tue, 8. Jul 25, 17:49 So the whole system is player driven? Correct but it needs to be activated first. But even for the other ones, once an event is created you dont HAVE to do anything, you can just leave it be and roll the dice.

Maybe in the German forum.
In this topic viewtopic.php?t=470646, there were quite a few questions about the same had no answer ..

Thats why I posted this topics question initially in the Beta Testing topic, because it was not clear to me if there was or wasn't a similar feature in the beta.
Glad to know there isn't anyway. I really want to keep X4 unmodified.

Re: Diplomacy Feature Dynamic relation
Yes I know, Falcrack sums it up for me ..
I love all X series games. TC was good, AP was really good, and when FL came along I bought the Terran War Pack because I thought it was going to be even more of the same .. only to find it had a new mechanic in Dynamic relations which for me ruined it. Adding new features which needed a modification to undo them felt a bit off to me. It was no longer the game I thought I was buying.
Edit: .. Though I appreciate such discussions would probably turn into a furball. Not an easy thing to aproach for Egosoft.
I do trust that decisions on changes to this game series are really well considered, but occasionally mistakes are made.
Some communication to allay any fears before we get dumped on by features we maybe do not want in the product we have already bought, would be appreciated.Falcrack wrote: ↑Thu, 26. On more than one occasion, Egosoft has tried to implement player requests, but has misinterpreted what we were asking for, and gave us something which misses the mark.
If they were to provide more in depth explanations of what exactly they are planning, long before release, it would give players more advance time before release to let them know if they are on the right track with their ideas, and potentially make adjustments before fully committing themselves to something most players do not really want.

But wasn't FL free if you already had TC/AP? I know I didn't buy it but still have it.alt3rn1ty wrote: ↑Tue, 8. Jul 25, 18:32 Yes I know, Falcrack sums it up for me ..

No idea I cant remember, I was just doing my usual support Egosoft thing and bought it after joining GOG (I quit Steam and wanted TC/AP/FL in my library).

Re: Diplomacy Feature Dynamic relation
With dynamic diplomacy, it will be more logical and plausible for the player. And that means more immersion in the space adventure of the future.
