That’s interesting, I remember that I used to have a few occasions when the game would make 2 saves at the same time, when docking at a station, but one of them was always corrupted. Maybe this could be a hint (question is what caused this).

Also, you might be right about the ship amount (I had 4 tugs working 24/7 so…), because after running your script for the first time and transferring one of the sectors, the message about technical limitations would pop up again afterwards. But when I got rid of a considerable portion of my units, I ran the script again and then I was able to transfer several sectors without any limitations.

So I guess I can continue with the plot then, thx again.

I looked this over for Auto-Repair and what I see, is that the ship will be sent to the Home outpost ONLY if it is the Closest safe outpost. If an enemy race claims one of your sectors, they intend on attacking and that's not a safe outpost.
"Closest" is the number of actual gate jumps, and does NOT include using any Jump Beacons. The lack of consideration of Jump beacons for distance calculations is probably what's throwing you off.

Jump beacons are not taken into consideration for quite a few things, including Agent and Trader ranges. Generally it's not an issue for the A.I. since they have no jump beacons, but it's not optimal for the player in every circumstance. The CPU requirements for figuring out best-path stuff using beacons is pretty harsh and I'm pretty sure that's why they don't always consider them for some things. Beacons were sort of an add-on, and calculating optimum paths using beacons for all Automated ships would put a real hurt on the game performance. Anyway, that limitation aside, the fleet repairs appear to be coded correctly.

Hi all,

Is it normal not to have any mission offered at the beginning of the game?
I just got a rescue mission right at the start but nothing else has ever popped up. Only the remnant ships. Is there anything I should do to get more missions?

I started with an M4 and no other ships, and 40K in the bank, with a knowledge of all the sectors and few satellites around, which normally should point out missions in sectors you are not personally in (at least so it worked in Mayhem zero hour 2.0).

Yes. At the very beginning there are none. It doesn't take long for them to start popping up though.

Zero Hour did not generate missions unless you personally piloted your ship into a sector. Only then would it generate missions for that sector, and no others. Once you scouted around for a while, you'd see a lot of missions in the list.

Renegades doesn't wait for you to move between systems. It will randomly generate up to 2 random missions in a single "player visible" sector within 12 jumps of the player ship every 20 seconds. If you've been playing for an hour or so, you should see a lot of missions in the personal journal.

Thanks for the swift reply!

Unfortunately, after more than one hour playing I did not encounter any more missions except the first one I described. I dropped even more satellites in more sectors to be sure I would get something, but so far nothing except the abandoned ship (one new every time I get the previous one)... I will try again this evening and see if by simply restarting the game you get something, otherwise it may be some bugs or something not right with the installation :(

It only looks for "Known" sectors that are owned by other races, so you don't actually need a satellite for that.
If you have no other races that own sectors within 12 jumps of your ship, you'll never get a mission offer. Missions come from other races.
Only other thing that can stop missions is if you join the OCV, which I assume you haven't.

Other than that, don't know. I was a couple hours into a game this morning and had a full mission board.

All good, I am trying a fresh install of everything including the base game without bonus pack ;)

I will check again and report :)

Ok, I tested different ways and I always end up with just two missions in the first sector I am in, and then nothing anymore.

I tried a fresh install: no change
I tried a fresh install in Program files, had issues running cleanup, moved out of program files, ran cleanup, worked, moved back to program files, generated map using admin privilege, worked, started game, again same 2 missions and then nothing
I tried to run in compatibility mode with Windows 7 ( I have windows 11, that has not been a problem with Mayhem 3 zero hour 2.2, but I just checked): no change, same two missions in first sector and then nothing more :(
I checked the script files having "mission" in their name all around the folder, saw that some may be blocked to protect PC, created exception using windows defender for the entire folder, then disabled possibility of blocking manually.... no change. I guess my PC really does not want to run this game as it is intended to be XD

I will come back to it at the next update, maybe something stupid is happening in my laptop and will magically be fixed even if unintentionally XD

If you want, you can send me your saved game files and I can look it over. You could also zip up your /addon/scripts/ folder and I can check to make sure all the files match.

Also, note in the install instructions it says this:
"Install X3 and copy the entire game folder to a new folder (C:\Mayhem 3). Note: I do not recommend putting this in your /Program Files or /Program Files (x86) folder, as Windows is very restrictive there."

Hi, I need some help. When trying to build a station from my first TL, the sector is not captured. I tried different saves, generated new galaxies, set up a research station first, and then an outpost, and vice versa. The sectors were empty, no stations or NPC. Can you tell me what the problem might be? I am using the latest version of the 5.4 modification.

Before that, I used version 5.3 and the problem was the same. I tried Mayhem zero hour, there was no such problem, but it kept crashing for me.

Any station you place should capture the sector.
I would need your saved game and your map folder zipped up. The save would need to be from just before you deployed the station so that I could repeat what you're doing.

I was able to solve the problem. I set my spawn points in the generated galaxy using Zmap. As soon as I stopped doing this, everything worked fine for me.

I always set my spawn points using ZMap and have never experienced this issue. From a programming perspective, there is really no link between the 2 things. It would be interesting to get to the bottom of it, but I'm glad it's working for you.

What is the population growth rate supposed to be on hard? I'm playing a hard chaotic map and the growth rates starts at 20 people per 10 minutes until there are 40 people then drops down to +3 people every 10 minutes. The Triple Population Growth perk also appears to have no effect...
Such a slow population growth is a killer...!
