Re: Trump Presidency
Well, it should be no surprise, that the bill passed. ICE gets more funding, concentration camps in every state no doubt. The poor will suffer, while the rich will certainly benefit. As for the midterms, I;m sure the GOP and Trump will do all that they can to stop that from happening. Welcome to the new age America, do you feel proud yet?

Worse than that trump will also increase cooperation/deals with russia.
Not overly surprised the bill got passed was expecting a longer period of time and more bumps in the road. trump is threatening people in private.
Things are going to get much worse and not just in the US.

The consequences will not be as immediate as many people think though. But they will in all likelihood hit like a hammer once the are felt in full force.
On a different note, the marines are now headed to Florida, to support ICE there by doing administrative tasks for them.
Seems like the military is now permanently a police force.

STUNNING announcement blows up Trump’s budget bill
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UjgPYyBGHc
So, hospitals in rural America are already closing due to this bill, even though, the effects won't be felt until after midterms. When Trump and the GOP are saying the total opposite, they are just saying BS. So people are already going to start suffering. Way to go America. cant even protect your own. Who knows how many more hospitals will close as a result?
This wouldn't have happened under Harris.

Indeed, more hospitals and ER units will close. and before the midterms. Trump will likely declare that midterms will be off. And many will suffer due to this madness. Oh yes, it will certainly get worse.

Also, 1 out of every 4 nursing homes is expected to have to close their doors as well - an already back logged and under provided health care service that's somewhere in the neighborhood 80% paid for by medicare and medicaid. You gonna see these MAGA freaks jump up and down to take care of their dementia addled grandmothers and pay for their medical expenses out of pocket? Hell no.

Re: Trump Presidency
A clinic for 900 people in rural America? Just goes to show the size of the place!!
The village I grew up in in the UK is now 1400 and still nearest medical facility is in a town (GP). Checking the map, that's quite a trek to the nearest now for Curtis, Nebraska (90 km?).
Fun thing to point out though. Not a single person had a clue about Curtis, Nebraska, until this aligned with their personal feelings. So, given this sudden caring and interest, I draw attention what the person said...
"...many of which have faced significant financial challenges for years".
It's been struggling with bad funding for *years*. Yet suddenly a load of people across the US *NOW* care because politics?
To be crystal clear - as a European, and a British person specifically, the US healthcare system (to me) may be outstanding in quality, but absolutely pitiful in relation to the worst of in society. The closure of a clinic is a rallying cry for a political segment now, but they were unaware and uncaring of it's plight prior. Bittersweet for the clinic to be making such national headlines now surely...
TBH (as most countries could) it'd be grand if the richer (as in super rich) stopped counting the incalculable amounts of cash they have, and started helping the worst off a bit more. It may be a few years before you can change the Govt and the damage done could be huge, but charity from the wealthy could reduce the impact until such time as things *do* change. For the better. Because... I mean, it's like a daily car crash (politics wise) now. I say this (targeted at the rich "volunteering" simply because evidently neither side is willing to tax them appropriately; it's somehow political/financial suicide. Which seems bonkers.

Re: Trump Presidency
Flaw in your argument, your majesty. There are thousands of hospitals and clinics across the country. Your silly argument expects that we know specifics about each and every one. Just because Curtis is the first to announce its closure doesn't mean we don't/didn't care. As a matter of fact, we've been screaming for socialized healthcare and/or expanded medicaid for YEARS to increase the effectiveness of these rural facilities and provide care for poor/homeless/veterans in population centers across the country. Case in point, the democrat governor of Louisiana, a very red state, expanded medicaid 4 years ago. A lot of funding went to revamp and modernize a ton of small clinics and nursing homes. And with a stroke of a pen, all of that is undone with projections they wont be able to continue to operate within the next 10 years.

Well yes. Very true. From July 2025, to Jan 2027 when the change takes effect is it? closing doors 18 months prior to any change.

They didn't say they were closing today. You're assuming, and you know what happens when you do that? lol...
Maybe you should stick to UK matters and not feel the need to expand your sphere of ignorance.
https://chmccook.org/community-hospital ... cal-centerAt this time, Community Hospital plans to continue to serve Curtis and the surrounding communities with its Community Hospital Behavioral Health program, providing important mental health support and resources to the community.
Community Hospital is working closely with patients and staff to ensure a smooth transition of services and will provide guidance on alternative care options in the region.

I remember a few years back that Republic mouthpiece A-hole Joe Rogan in one of his podcasts on YouTube he was ranting and raving about why should he have to pay for other peoples health care, to a short time later he was ranting and raving about why he should have to pay all this cash for his disabled sons health care as it wasn't his sons fault he was disabled, you see the irony in it all, it's all one thing until it actually affects them.
It's also pretty funny that the BBC is giving all of his way far too much coverage, it's literally getting better coverage than they usually give Scottish politics. My reasoning on this is that there must be an awful lot of Americans getting their American news from the BBC, as they probably do not trust their homegrown news coverage.

I can't say for sure thats the case but I wouldn't be surprised. The Whitehouse can't control what the BBC publishes. While they're desperately trying to control the media here, yours still has a free hand.

Re: Trump Presidency
The arguments for the hospitals closing based on what I have seen is that in the US you are required to provide medical treatment. The hospital probably won't be reimbursed the full cost of the health care provided due to the cuts to medicare /medicaid. So they will have to subsidize the cost of some patients.
There's also concerns about people with life threatening conditions that require nurses/aids, special food mixtures, stomach feeding tubes, pumps, etc.... They might not get the stuff they need anymore.
Effects might be felt in 2026+? Some other stuff will take a while to kick in also 2027+?

Tom Fahy, the legislative director for the NWS employees’ union, told CNN that while he believes the offices had “adequate staffing and resources,” the Austin-San Antonio office is missing a warning coordination meteorologist — a role that serves as a crucial, direct link between forecasters and emergency managers.
This vacancy in the Austin-San Antonio office, along with other key roles, were the result of early retirement incentives offered by the Trump administration to shrink the size of the federal government, a NOAA official told CNN.

At least 51 people are confirm dead (including children (and may raise still) the reason? remember that Trump administration cut funding and staffing to the national weather service? Well, because of that, there was NO advance warning to flash flooding in Texas.
He and Musk have a lot to answer for. But they cut the NWS because they didn't want data about climate change. but this service is vital to keeping people safe from potential weather changes.
How many more people will die under Trump? Before people take action? But sadly, the GOP will still worship him.
A sad day indeed.

It is areas like this where we will see the clash between reality and policies based on fantasy the most. Weather and climate change does not care about rather or not republicans believe it exists. Their new Alligator camp in Florida is also already flooding, although in that case that may be a feature to get rid off unwanted people.matthewfarmery wrote: ↑Sun, 6. Jul 25, 09:10 BREAKING!

With all the people being kicked off SNAP and Medicare/Medicaid, the body count is going to grow exponentially. Not that they care.
Additionally they've killed off the hurricane monitoring satellites the NWS used to track hurricanes. With that gone, coastal states, particularly Florida, will now have next to no lead time for evacuations when the next hurricane hits. It'd be funny if it weren't so sad.
