Hello Egosoft community!
As an X universe fan, I propose X Arena, a multiplayer space combat game (up to 1000 players, depending on server stability) with rich progression, fair anti-cheat measures, and diverse mechanics. Here’s the concept:
1. Core Concept
X Arena is set in a single sector, with jump drives for escape. Players choose a basic fighter (combat) or trade ship (economy) and earn credits and reputation through hits, missions, or selling critical resources (gained via time and against AI/players). Resources unlock ships (S, M, L, XL), weapon upgrades (based on rank/reputation), and modules like the targeting AI V3 (1M credits, reduces energy for speed/shields).
2. Game Modes
100% PvP: Massive player battles.
PvP + PvE: Fights against players and enemy AI.
Free-for-All: Chaotic survival arena.
Co-op PvE: Missions against AI with allies or turret-gunning friends.
Solo vs. AI: For training or relaxed play.
Resupply: Protect a trade ship (player-controlled) with friends/AI against AI/players.
3. Key Mechanics
Progression: Hits, missions, and trading earn credits/reputation. Fleeing (jump drive, portal, disconnect/crash/rage quit) reduces gains, or reputation if reported as desertion. A Honor/Deserter ratio tracks desertions; special missions redeem reputation.
Customization: Build unique ships (e.g., XL cannon on a fighter, speed 1 m/s, near-impossible turns).
Targeting AI V3: Legal aim assist (80% accuracy, costly, reduces energy).
Playable Turrets: Friends control turrets without owning the game.
Fleets and Stations: Manage hundreds of ships/stations (offline passive income). Build and gift ships (no insurance). Non-combatants direct AI/player fleets for objectives.
MATS: Rare module (1M credits + challenges: Kha’ak M, Xenon M, 20% success mission) for repairs/upgrades or trading. Requires sharing PC computing power to stabilize servers.
4. Anti-Cheat System
Detection: Post-match, a stats table (accuracy, kills, etc.) lets players flag anomalies. 100 reports trigger Egosoft’s deeper analysis. Cheaters are discreetly penalized (weaker ship, fewer gains).
Penalties: Public “CV” shows reports. False accusations reduce the accuser’s reputation.
Fair Play: In-game scanning is frowned upon. Cheating (modified files) is pointless with legal options like AI V3 and MATS.
5. Ranks
20 ranks per category (combat, trading, cheating suspicion): Blue, Veteran, Elite, etc.
Ranks affect invitations/alliances. Inviting known cheaters penalizes the host.
6. Servers and Accessibility
Custom servers (players, AI, rules).
Info table: stability (green/yellow/orange/red), ping, real/AI players, sector preview.
Free (limited) and premium (optimized) servers.
Offline station management for passive income.
7. Attracting New Players
Turrets playable without owning the game.
Station owners invite players for credits, based on rank.
Seasonal events with leaderboards and rewards (skins, modules).
8. Testing
Test server for 1000 players/AI, starting with 50-100 players for optimization.
9. Conclusion
X Arena delivers thrilling combat, diverse progression, and fair anti-cheat measures. What do you think? I’d love your feedback!
Thanks for reading, and I hope this inspires Egosoft!

Game ideas are not "off topic". Moved to the main forum.
That said, this is not a new idea, and the reasons why we haven't made a game of this type have been explained many times!

Re: Game Proposal: X Arena – Fair Space Combat
Network support has to be integrated into the engine from grounds up, and adding it now likely is not very feasible.
1000 players is very high number, if this is in a single simultaneous session, it is unlikely to happen. Modern games usually go to something like 64, and very rarely reach 100.
It is best not to use Grok and other LLMs for idea generation, as the ideas will be usually bad.

I'd like a combat arena (single sector), but not for hundreds of players. Maybe up to 4 players or thereabouts, each player controlling a fleet.
You would enter this "arena" from your single player universe with a limited total mass of ships via Ventures modules, and fight for rare resources in these sectors, and also collect mod drops from destroyed enemy ships.

The game you describe basically exists allready. It's called "Infinity battlescape" and covers your ideas and more.
It's currently in early access on steam but should be released pretty soon.
The semi-newtonian flight model is the best ever! imho

Please no multiplayer features - Ventures are embarrassing failure enough for poor X4.

+1
Brute force and ignorance solves all problems, just not very efficiently.
If brute force isn't working, then you aren't using enough.
