Return of the Yaki DLC? [Poll]
So I absolutely love the Yaki. I love their lore i love their ships ive loved them ever since i met them in X3 i followed their story and i loved how Saya Kho worked for the most famous and notorious Yaki Beryl Syndicate which was a pretty fearsome group and then she blew up the Torus causing all sorts of hell which is kinda cool imo haha
Anyways you would think a faction thats had such a massive impact to the X universe probally even more than other factions would at least some what get a return in the X4 Series
Currently the Yaki we have in X4 is massively depressing. I love the idea of Yaki a faction combining Other races tech with Xenon tech to make cool stuff. The Yaki ships are really awesome looking and really impressive prob the best Fighter and M ship in game belongs to them. Could you imagine what a Yaki destroyer would be like? or a Yaki carrier? or a Yaki L trader?
Could you imagine Yaki having their own shipyard and Wharf capturing sectors from other races while the Xenon are allied with them or even just Neutral with them?
theres so many possibility's to make the Yaki come back strong and really bring more life to X4 a true hardcore pirate faction that can rival that of any major faction a true threat to the galaxy!
but... even if not a major DLC.. it could be a simple Small DLC like the Hyperion... a small DLC pack that contained exclusive Yaki ships and buildings and unlocking Yaki ability to claim sectors.
Anyways i know this wouldnt happen... i love the Yaki... but one can dream i guess...

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC?
No. Yaki story ended in the X³ era. The X4 Yakis are all there is.

I do wish we had more of their ships. Their story is also very mechanically disappointing in that choosing to clear a space for them is totally meaningless.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC?
Sort of ..
But really I just wish they would at least prosper in their own sector after you help them out, and have the ability to build in that sector (or better still move to another) and defend themselves, even if the Xenon dont finish them off, other factions will.
But then also you will have a dlc which depends upon another dlc .. I wouldn't mind that, but would Egosoft do it?.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC?
yaki can stay as it is with terran dlc, they could make another lost faction or something similar, have em separated
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC?
i get what you are all saying i do. Their story has ended but.... why put them in then if their story has ended?
it just seems so odd to add a faction that does... nothing... and is simply dead....
its like that Quettanauts a faction that is dead and useless and cant interact with and has no impact on the universe at all.
are people really happy having dead factions that do nothing and just sit there?

I don't really care if it ended tbh, they could write whatever they like to justify it if they were so inclined.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC?
In my opinion if you go down the route of saving them they should turn into a proper faction. Doesn't have to be a full DLC or anything, but it's silly that they don't claim the sector(s) you painstakingly liberated for them, or do anything with their newfound freedom.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC?
Egpsoft generally avoid having dependencies for DLC. Every DLC should work even if no other DLC was owned. In this case, it seems a Yaki DLC would run into the issue of needing to own the Cradle of Humanity DLC for it to function.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC?
That doesn't seem entirely insurmountable if they wanted to add more of the Yaki ship style, since they could just add some in a new sector. Though as far as making the Yaki plot in CoH less disappointing goes, it's probably outside of the scope of new DLCs.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC?
^^ This. After all you do for them, when you are done it feels like an emotional gaping wound, the Yaki Rep' talks to you one last time with a generic reply and .. nothing else happens. You are left standing there thinking "Well, I guess thats it then!?". No re-building occurs, no taking advantage of the space they have now they are free of the Xenon, they just sit there and (in my case) waiting for ANT to steam roll them out of existance, never to appear anywhere again.adeine wrote: ↑Mon, 24. If you are lucky you will get their Moreya / Kuraokami Blueprints before they get steam rolled, or maybe the Terran will also engage their last station with an Intervention Asgard before that happens .. infuriating wet weekends. "Get up and fight you sorry arsed bunch!"

I don't really want a DLC to correct this, just Egosoft to finish the story a bit better than it is now. Its like a programmer said "Well thats the logical conclusion, it will do"

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC?
I wouldn't mind such a DLC however, it is common practise to not make a DLC dependent on another DLC a.k.a creating sub-DLCs, or at least there are such a few example that I don't know about it.
Often in similar games, and in X4 itself, there are common cross references between DLCs, for example Boron diplomatic quest acknowledges the existence of Terrans (Cradle of Humanity DLC) and Riptide Rakers (Tides of Avarice DLC) or makes decisions based on your choices in the main TER and PAR plot.
This is common practise in a variety of games, for immersion and maybe also for better sales.
The issue with DLCs is that everyone has a different subset of DLC or even only basegame and just for sales alone it may be more worth to create a new DLC independent of other DLC.
Only MMORPGs can solve this by making their last expansion part of the basegame and only sell the latest expansion separately.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC? [Poll]
More DLC are always good; As long as it does not compete with other stuff like the diplomacy DLC, Aldrin more mysterious Sohnen stuff, then yes of course go for it.
As I understand the Yaki we have in X4 are the remains of Beryll, an AGI focused faction that split from the regular Yaki in X3 time. So content with regular Yaki could run independently to CoH.

Voted "maybe". I played x3 long time ago, and barely remember anything about them this point. Cyborgs are cool, though their faceplates could use more variety. Mixing with xenon tech is cool too, but... I'd rather just play as xenon. Wouldn't mind more variety in appearance, it is extremely difficult to get an interesting lookin yaki and not just another one with a toaster installed into left eye socket.

I vote no because I am simply not interested in another DLC about pirates. I never really was super interested in the piracy aspect, in any X game.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC? [Poll]
I believe the Yaki already had their moment in the sun in the CoH DLC.
They should've had the option to transition to a faction that builds their own stations after being free from the Xenon and perhaps join the war against TER if the Terran conflict starts off again, but other than that, they don't need any additions made to them until X5.
VIG has also replaced them as the preeminent organised and dangerous pirate faction.

But when you get one, they can be a pretty good "Seven of nine" lookalike

Ages ago now, looking forward to maybe getting another this new playthrough.

Re: Return of the Yaki DLC? [Poll]
I was trying to get a female yaki pilot that falls under those characteristics:
* No "regulation bun" or afro haircuts. That means shorthair or... that "pulp fiction bob".
* Face intact. Meaning without eye plate, without faceplate, and without the ocular implant. I'm not a fan of how they look. Visors would be cool, but those are not visors.
* Both eyes glow.
I managed to get 2 of those, but it was ridiculously difficult. There's a very small number of yaki on their station, they don't have a bar, gambling den, casino or observation platforms (those are guaranteed NPC spawn). You can keep re-buying crew, but that's still highly improbable combination and if you got there in an M ship you'd get about 15 crew at most. I wish we could export NPCs or something...

One thing I have never seen, is the Terraforming missions which give you high star pilots in my experience dont produce Yaki pilots. I wonder if that is by design.
