Fighting laser towers was never super complicated, if you had a ship that could strafe faster than they could turn. However, it seems that they now turn so slowly that a guy in a wheelchair could dodge them:

I doubt that my system specs are relevant to this kind of bug, but I’ll post them if you need them.

I can confirm that behavior. In my case it's not an MK2, but a set of MK1. Before the upgrade, the set consisting of several dozens of laser tower MK1 could easily shoot down a XEN PE within a fraction of a second. After the 7.50 effectiveness of the towers is greatly reduced, because only 2 or 3 of the laser towers even start shooting. They then take ages to bring down the PE...

I would even say: *IIF* they move in first place.
Find linked a video on an observation at my current savegame: There are three Xenons around. At first, the tower does not move at all. Then it moves into some direction where no target is - and never fires.
In that state, the laser towers are rather useless...
