On your Terraforming planet, a new centre based on mass training - Pilot Training Seminar Centre and Marine Training Seminar Centre. Management Seminar Centre. Engineering Seminar Centre. Entertainment Network for morale.

Each of these centres, when activated - yes, you can activate them as parallel - will increase the skills of your fleet to your selected Star Level of up to four stars. However, training and doing are not the same thing. If your fleet is training and has not graduated, then it cruddifies everything. Slower mining, slower combat. Slower trade. It's a tradeoff and it costs while training.

Training to five stars is possible, but needs HQ resources. Dock a ship with HQ with a special dock order - Dock for Intensive Training. This will give you five stars and you can select one training type. Ships in Intensive Training need thirty seconds to undock.

You might have your own plans for reworking training, but these ideas are good ones. I would be grateful to see these ideas in the game, if you don't have solutions in mind. Being able to train just 101 personnel in an empire that can employ thousands in a nonsense we need to bypass, one way or another.

Personally I don't think the benefits of training pilots actually justify a) the time/effort it takes them to gain skills, or b) the sheer irritation of transferring pilots around in numbers, even if you train them in bulk.

Skilled pilots are better but not, like, "it isn't going to die trivially in combat" better. Rather than insisting on such irritating grind, they should make them skill up in a more organic way as they perform relevant tasks. Like managers already do. A manager at high levels is way more functionally useful than a pilot at high levels, and yet somehow far easier to obtain. Pilots are just tuned very wrong for the utility they provide with skill and their chances of survival. Training that involves different grind (Terraforming) should never have had to exist in the first place.

Or on the other hand, if they want us to do so much to get a level 5 pilot, make them actually mean something commensurate with that effort. Because right now I just don't bother, and it never actually matters.

Pilot and marine training difficult via terraforming?
Concidering amount of resouces it requires to level up 1 of each is ridiculous small and with that you get 100 pilots or marines raised up.
Personally I would say it's really easy. And so far I haven't seen much need for 5 stars pilots. With 4 stars I can handle everything I need.

Training service crew in HQ would be real waste. They get so fast experience just working in freighters or destroyers. Manager training is also fast as they gain morale and exp fast in the station which have handful of subordinates and traffic. I usually give basic manager training if manager have less than 1 star and rest s/he can learn by doing.

Engineers get five stars on build projects relatively quickly. A construction ship training engineers works well and scales up! :)
