The Steam version of the game cannot find the save location (Timelines)

Post by HiKirinCN »

Today, I found that I am unable to connect to online content in the game, including in-game account login and verification of online content. I want to know if the online server is being updated or reset.

I have fully experienced the timeline plot and plan to backup and save it before trying the updated content of the 7.50 version. But I can't find the archive location. There are no archive files in Egosoft \ X4 \ ******* \ save, only steam_outocloud.vdf. After I stopped using Steam Cloud Archive, I still couldn't find the archive file.I backed up the entire X4 folder in Document, and I hope this is useful.

Can I import this save file into the GOG version of the game?

Okay, please ignore this issue. It seems that the in-game login function has been restored to normal. However, please help me resolve the issue regarding the archive location.

You mean to ask how to have an independent backup specifically of Timelines progress as it doesn't use the conventional X4 saving method, is that correct?

Normal galaxy saves can be backed up just by copying elsewhere (or by renaming them to avoid them being overwritten). I have lots of save folders and specific saves with names not used by the game so that I could name them back and return play to them if desired.

This is an issue I overlooked before, timeline archiving does not use the usual saving method. I backed up the entire X4 folder, hoping that the timeline progress can still be used after converting from the Steam version to the GOG version.

If you copy the userdata.xml and userdata_signed.xml files over then Timelines progress, as well as things like gamestart unlocks, should be preserved. Those files are in the folder that contains the save folder.
