I would like just a little bit more control over the types of targets my ships assigned to position defense will engage. For interceptors that I do not want engaging capital ships, I might have the "Engage S/M ships" button selected. For destroyers and dedicated bombers, I would have "Engage L/XL ships" selected. For more generalist fighters, I might have both selected.
Basically this would allow us the equivalent of "Intercept" and "Bombard" for the position defense assignment.
[Suggestion] Add options "Engage S/M ships" and "Engage L/XL ships" to position defense

Do subordinates to PD ships also automatically make use of the command carrier?
I was thinking of just throwing Sapporos as the PD wing, and then separately assign intercept/bombard wings to them.

That'll work. And yes, they should also use the carrier.
edit: as well as any fleet auxiliary ships attached to their fleet.

That means I can use a Guppy as the flag even with M ships as I can just have aux ships deal with them.
Though speaking of which it did make me realize the issue with using Sapporos, missile rearmament could be a bitch and might take them out of the fight for a long time if not indefinitely.
I had some missile destroyers basically getting stunlocked trying to resupply at an aux. Cancelling doesn't seem to help at all. I'll need to check next I play but perhaps I can turn off auto resupply or missile use for these Sapporos I guess.
But anyway, just to confirm, intercept/bombard uses the commander's radar range right? Otherwise I can just have any random destroyer instead.
