Currently we have to apply paintjobs after the ships have been built. If you build a batch of ships at once, you have to find each individual ship and apply a paintjob one at a time.
This is just tedious and unnecessary clicking.
You already added turret options and blacklists to ship building menu over the course of a the last pathes. Please add the paintjob menu too.
The loadout should still be loadable, even if the player does not have the paintjob. Could be handled just like when the player does not have enough workforce for the crew.
The ship gets built anyway.

This would be nice to have as I often find that some racial ships look awful in certain paintjobs that work for other races' ships. e.g. Foundation Red makes Boron ships look diseased but is one of the more fitting default skins for Split ships.

In an upcoming version it will be possible to order the paint mod when building new ships or upgrading existing ships.
Due to technical reasons we cannot define limited items as part of loadouts, I still hope this change will improve things for you.

Proposal: get rid of the amount limitation to eliminate this technical complexity and make the game an even better one in the process - free the paintjobs and show them to the universe!

It would be better if they were not limited items, but something like blueprints. You obtain it once, you use it everywhere. Limited paintjobs never made any sense.

Exactly. Couldn't have said it any better myself.

No, you don't understand. The paintjobs can't be unlimited. The paintshop mafia will come and shoot the painter in the head if you try to install it more often than your license allows. You don't own the paintjob you own a license to install it x times.
Jokes aside. I also think the paintshops should be something that you unlock once and can use as much as you want.

I think every paintjob apart from plain defaults should have a copyright and faction owner (including some only the player owns). Get on good terms with the owner and maybe pay a small ally paintjob licence fee and you can use as many of their various owned paintjobs as you wish.
The downside is that if you lose [permanent] rep to below neutral with that faction and lose the licence then any ships of yours still using their paintjobs is detected by any authority scan by the owning faction as illegal and a potential smuggler/pirate until you change the paintjob or get on better terms and re-licence.
As a nod to piracy roleplay, maybe pirate-owned paintjobs should always be considered illegal/suspicious by other non-piracy factions. (A shame though as I like the BUC paintjob.)

Re: [Request] Apply paintjobs directly at shipyard and save in loadout
Select whole batch of ships you build/order - right click, redesign - you will be able to mass apply the same paint mod for all selected ship, as long as you have enough of them.
Will this be available only at NPC shipyard, or at player shipyard as well?
Would be nice if each faction shipayrds would offer their own selection of paint mods (e.g. there are some faction specific mods already)
Since ventures are defunct, it would be great to add ventures paint mods to be buyable at traders as well.
