I read the Argon Federation lore and didn't see where they would be this cunning but this one actually made me LOL (and maybe not trust them as much).
I was flying around Silent Witness I, looking for some ARG missions because I was +18 and wanted to get to +20 before logging off. I did a few enemy traffic cleanups and some taxi missions when a mission appeared to help a ship that was stranded in a minefield. I don't really like these missions because they don't pay well and there's no challenge but I figured... rep and all... So off I flew, what's 128 Km among friends, right? I made short work of the mines, the ship thanked me for my troubles and ARG deposited a few Cr into my bank. Then....
As I was looking on the map for my next mission, I noticed an ARG fighter squadron barreling down on my position. For a minute I thought maybe I accidentally avoided a police checkpoint or that maybe my Spacefly Eggs were showing. Thankfully, no. Instead this fighter squadron flew past me at warp 9.5, clipping my wing and sending me spiraling away. But not before I saw them obliterate the ship they just had me rescue.
I was a little annoyed they had me destroy the mines for a few measily Cr when I would have gladly engaged the ship, using the mines to my advantage, for a better prize. But, ultimately I found myself laughing at how cunning they were at using me to clear safe passage to their target.
Argon - Are they usually this devious?

Was that ship perchance a 'pirate'? If so, that squadron probably just didn't get the memo that the higher-ups wanted it. So, either cunning, or incompetence. Take your pick.

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

That's actually pretty cool and sounds like one of those random combinations of things that can happen. Sure the AI didn't think of that, but for immersion, it's easy to pretend they did. IThat's the kind of thing you could literally write an account of in your diary... "Today, I was tricked by the Argons to do their dirty work for them!" or you could write, "I did my job, they did theirs! As long as I get paid I don't care."user1679 wrote: ↑Mon, 2. 1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

No, it wasn't a pirate. There was something going on near the gate, maybe that ship's faction became an enemy after the fact.

Yeah, I thought it was fun, even if the mission AI isn't technically programmed that way. Honestly, I wish there would be a mission update that had scripted events like that, where the player could then decide to defend the newly freed ship or back the police squadron. Each decision would come with different bonus rewards, like a blueprint or something. Missions right now are very boring.Socratatus wrote: ↑Mon, 2.
