There is always room for improvement. Once again Egosoft does the right thing by listening to the community. Rome 2 Total War was a disaster at launch and now it is a great game. At first they didn't want to listen to anyone and it penalized them a lot.

Egosoft doesn't have a team the size of The Creative Assembly (Sega). It is a very different case since they immediately listened to us and have worked tirelessly to improve the game. That is why I think they have been so successful in my point of view, thanks to it the X4 fan is loyal and involved in the game updates. They listen, value and execute, Time Lines was necessary, maybe it is not the most "commercially" attractive DLC but it is the one that will give the necessary immersion and opens a new path of content for future DLC.

I am sure that they will find the correct balance to diplomacy so that it is something fun and that it gives a little sense and depth to the X4 world.
+1 Totally agree. I for one will continue supporting this development studio. Thanks Egosoft!

I 100% agree that we should have a little more possible influence on the diplomatic relations of the various factions. I envision a reputation type currency being used to influence things. For the sake of argument lets call the currency REP. You do a mission for a faction and based on the difficulty of the mission you get a certain amount of REP. You can bank the REP and once you have enough you can spend it to do things like reduce or raise relations between factions. The larger the change the more it costs. It could even be done with credits if Egosoft doesn't like the idea of another currency. Also, if Egosoft doesn't like the idea of players being able to cause drastic and permanent changes they could make wars and alliances temporary and with a cooldown. Something to just shake up the universe if the player wants to. Maybe I want to see the lizards smack around the Argon for a bit :).

I think that if they want to make a dynamic and fun diplomatic system, they should consider several aspects. The first is that the declarations of war and peace are not a battle royale, that the main plot is respected with the typical relationships of traditional factions. Having said that, it is very important to mark objectives with rewards or penalties. It is very important that every war has a beginning and an end. The factions should have times of peace between them based on the marked objectives that could be:
- Take a sector, cancel a trade treaty with a faction, humiliate, contain a military threat, destroy stations, give support to an allied faction...
Victory or defeat works with a points system which counts if the objectives are met and the stations and ships destroyed. I think it is important in certain situations to force the AI ​​or the player to accept a peace. Also after peace there is time for truce so you cant declare war all the time without respecting a old truce. This would generate war objectives with rewards for the player and give more meaning to each gameplay.

To do this I would create several counters:

Sail fatigue: If the aggressor's objectives are not met or take too long. The amount of % of fleet destroyed or the amount of % of stations destroyed should force a peace. There should also be options in case of losing a war such as paying war reparations, destroying fortifications, trade blockade...

Prestige: It is a counter that measures how aggressive you are and that will affect the other factions. It can be recovered by facing the Xenon by taking their sectors. It is also recovered naturally over time and is lost every war action we take causing penalties if we are too aggressive.

Influence: It is measured by 3 meters, number of sectors, number of military ships and number of commercial ships. Depending on which is greater we will have some benefits or penalties. They give bonuses in peace negotiations and in the ability to acquire trade permits.

It would be very fun if the sectors applied a 10% tax. And that the owner of the sector would collect it and that the pirates would have the option of evading taxes with the risk of being caught and that would affect the meters drawn up.

Piracy would have very interesting modifiers in this whole world of diplomacy.

It may break a few things at first but there is no need for hard rules.

In the real world, Nation States spy on each other and commit other subterfuge even when they are allied.

If you're caught in the game, it lowers your diplomacy/relations level and based on how far, it can break treaties or start wars.

I voted yes.Another subject i think,I had a bed dream ,I own a sector,then I said to myself I want to invite any faction to build a weapons factorie,specifically a missile factory,once it's built. My sector collects credits $$$$$(every week) to me. I get also discount from those missile always purchased 😀,something egosoft can do,maybe.??,What do you players think .can you post these ideas to egosoft.i like to expand my own conquered sector this way.bye players.
