7.x station max gate distance miners/traders

Hi,

do I see this correctly that station traders now ship over 10 sectors, regardless of manager skill, while miners depend on the manager skill for up to 5 sectors?
There is also no way to limit the distance except setting up blacklists for each station, right?

AFAIK the ship range limit as a subordinate remains 5 gates max, and it will depend on the higher skill still..

EG: pilot 5* will range based on their skill if it's more than the station manager. I think that is also the methodology for subordinate ships assigned to trade for an AUX. Similarly, a subordinate pilot will adopt the range from a higher skilled commander.

Not totally sure however about commander skill adoption by their subordinates -- eg: station manager AFAIK is based on manager skill, not pilot skill.
Regarding an AUX commander I think it's based on their pilot skill, not manager skill.

..yep, presently to tweak subordinate trader range is only available (excluding skill level) by ware basket and lists made in the global area.

It's sometimes a little hard to visually determine the range/distance on the map, furthermore some of the pathways aren't counted, yet serve the same purpose as a gate.

Gist is, some qty of sectors away maybe isn't in fact that qty of gates.

Yes. I haven't tried using a mix of five star and four or less on captain/manager but if both are five star you will see ten sector ranges on your assigned traders. Limiting distance is a bit finicky depending on expectations and desired results. You will also need to set your station blacklists. Traders or miners a sector travel and activities blacklist for every civ ship assigned to that station. A good example is if you have a regional hub/trade station in Jupiter. You can set a blacklist for travel and activities for all assigned traders. You could ban travel and activities to Antigone while checking the box to avoid enemy sectors (xenon in savage). That would prevent the ships from leaving Terran/Segaris space.

No kidding?! Thanks for this info!

I had no idea the 2 NPC would combine skill ranks to go even further!

I have not seen that happen with <5 star commander & subordinate, this is a feature specific to having both @ 5 stars?

Sorry about my apparent misinformation wwf4668, which I guess you noticed. :wink:

My games are generally short[er] -- some ~15 days or so and it's host potato can't handle things well enough for my taste, so I restart. I think that I have 1 5-star manager on 1 or 2 games during the betas though.. Probably the only 5-star I have ever produced. lol

I don't know the specifics on when how or what changed the distance in 6.0-7.0 or newer. I know that my traders range upwards of ten more often than they used to in the past at five stars.
