Since version 6 seems to have broken all ship mods and it or v7 broke the Joystick for flight, what patch numbers are the ones for those 2 version updates?
What happens to the Boron and Timelines DLC if you remove both patches?
I'm contemplating going back to a pre-6 game state, where my existing mods all work, but would like to keep the Boron and Timelines sectors and ships.
I appreciate the DLC might be damaged by the patches not being there, but anything has to be better than being unable to fly a ship, and all the ship mods not working.
I'm still trying to rekindle interest in the game with the new DLC, but there is so much broken now that only drastic action might be needed.
Which are the v6 and v7 patches, and what happens to the DLC if you remove them?

What happened with joysticks for flight? I've been using mine for the past week or so in 7.0 without an issue and I don't see any bug reports on that in the support forum.
As far as removing the patches, you might need to get a different X4.exe version as well in order to fully remove the previous patches; it's pretty likely that the things that broke old ship mods (I'd guess the collision engine changes?) and how the joystick works would be in the executable, and using an old executable will *definitely* break Timelines and I'd expect it to also break any other DLC that released after that version of the executable was released.

Re: Which are the v6 and v7 patches, and what happens to the DLC if you remove them?
I found threads about the joysticks stopping working. It's supposed to be a known bug.
Mine has a file the game picks up and uses. I didn't play v6, just restarted with v7.
The ship won't turn at all. Left or right movement of the stick just rolls it a bit, without changing direction.
At first I thought it was broken mod ships, but it's vanilla ships as well.
That effectively ends any ability to play a combat game. And breaking the mod ships ends the style of game I used to play as well. Not much left.
Hence radical thoughts.

Weird. My joystick works fine. Check your binds; maybe you have rolling set to one of the axis instead of yawing?

It doesn't even roll properly either. A proper roll would have you going in a full circle in a hurry. This goes a tad roll, and then nothing.MutantDwarf wrote: ↑Sat, 10. Aug 24, 03:53 Weird. My joystick works fine. Check your binds; maybe you have rolling set to one of the axis instead of yawing?
I've changed nothing, just updated the game each time they came out. The joystick was perfect last time I played, which was on version 5 patches.

Not sure if it helps, but I can also confirm no joystick issues. I use an X52-Pro daily, and have not had any issues since v6 & v7 (or before). I've been using the same profile since before v4, and I generally participate in the Betas.
I did have an issue with a few "random & annoying bugs" while I running one of the earlier Betas. Since a number of files were being changed in the X4 folder (some by myself), I decided to try using Steam to verify the file integrity...and sure enough I had 1 bad file (which Steam replaced). Bugs gone.
While I wasn't having joystick issues back then...there was a borked file. Might be worth a look.

I verified the installation on Steam, and no problems were found.
The community there talks about loading alternate joystick files and not using the default one. Where do you get these? And how do you install them?

Changing the dead zone from 5 to 10% seems to have fixed the problem.
