Timelines not loading on GeForceNow - Fixed
When playing on GeForceNow, the game client is launching before X4 Timelines finishes downloading. Unfortunately, you can't restart the client in cloud gaming options without ending the VM session; meaning it is impossible to play Timelines DLC in GeForce Now at this time.

As I answered when you posted this the first time in the release announcement:

However in the case of an update like this, it's probably just a case of waiting until their server images have caught up with the new version.TexSteel wrote: ↑Thu, 20. Re: Timelines not loading on GeForceNow
The problem still persists. I think this is a problem how Steam handles downloads now. It will already launch a game, even if not fully installed. Which is super weird. Not sure if you can somehow flag content as absolutely needed, as a dev.
The problem is not new for X4 - and only X4 in my experience - as the game was and still is loading about 500mb of data every time when starting GFN. Not sure what this is, maybe language files?
Anyway, I have contacted Nvidia support, and hope they figure this out.

Re: Timelines not loading on GeForceNow
This is almost certainly the best way forward. We can contact them, but we are not the individual experiencing the problem, and all we end up doing is playing postman between them and the player.

Re: Timelines not loading on GeForceNow
I'm sorry, this isn't a server side disk image issue. The client is configured to download workshop mods and then launch the game is complete. It was also configured to download Kingdom's End and then launch the game when complete. It allowed users on GeForceNow and other cloud gaming services to launch the game appropriately without restart. For some reason, Timelines is not behaving that way. Upon launching a VM, Steam immediately starts downloading any missing content that the user is subscribed to (workshop, DLC, etc.); however the client is launching as soon as workshop downloads and other DLCs are complete. There's no reason the client couldn't be coded to also wait for Timelines to finish downloading.

I have the same problem and have already contacted Nvidia support twice (no response so far). Maybe it wouldn't be wrong if you as a developer wrote to the support.
I think that many more have this problem. Since everything runs automatically with GeForce Now, there's really nothing a gamer can do wrong.
And so far I haven't had any problems with any DLCs. They always ran shortly after their release.

Re: Timelines not loading on GeForceNow
I unfortunately have the exact same problem. I also hope for a quick solution from NVIDIA.
The discussion about the same problem is also happening on Reddit and in the GeForce Now forum. I'll provide some links to keep track of it. Maybe someone has developed a workaround.

Re: Timelines not loading on GeForceNow
Workaround for Steam: use the Steam Family View.
1. Start your local Steam
2. configure Steam Family View and set a pin
3. activate Steam Family View and keep shure X4 is not allowed
4. Start Geforce Now and deactivate Steam Family View with your pin
5. wait for X4 to be downloaded (Check your DLCs)
6. start the game

I have the same problem and I solved it with the "Steam Family Sharing trick".

I'm having trouble with this Family Sharing. It downloads the DLC but starts the game in the background. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Timelines not loading on GeForceNow
[On your Local Computer]
- Activate Family View on your local Steam Installation / Set it to "disallow all games" and choose an easy pin (0000)
- Then start GFN
[In GFN]
- Steam will tell you that X4 is not allowed In Family View and simply not start the game
- Then turn off Family View by clicking the green button and entering your pin
- Start X4 manually

They've patched it now.
It works without a workaround.

Re: Timelines not loading on GeForceNow - Fixed
I don't think this works, neither does family view work, as I can't setup a pin in there, or do I have to invite other people to my family for that? Anyway, I tried to watch some videos about setting up a pin for family view, but in each of those videos it has a different location than what I have and I don't get the wizzard telling me to setup the family view (don't get any wizzard at all) All I can do is setup family view for me alone.
edit: Nevermind, it just shows this blackscreen with the cursor for 5 minutes and then it starts the game. So it is working for me too.
