X4 Foundations will not load from Steam - SentinelOne AV issue.

Post by outdoorzy »

I've tried everything applicable from the troubleshooting guide and I get nowhere. Game says tries to launch when hitting "play" but goes right back to "play" after about 30 seconds. Never appears to load or do anything after hitting "play". How can I get some help? Just purchased the game and verified integrity of files. Haven't gotten it to load once.

MSI GS75 Stealth laptop
9 GEN Intel Core i7-9750H
Nvidia GEFORCE RTS 2080 Max-Q; all drivers updated and confirmed Vulkan/OpenGL is present
System Memory = 32GB DDR4
8GB GDDR6 Video
Steam and game are installed on D: drive, SSD 1TB
I have no problems with other games launching from Steam.

Please supply a link to a current DxDiag so that we can see what your system and drivers are and what it says is happening. Instructions are in the first sticky thread on this forum.

I assume since the game is new that you have not yet loaded any 3rd party mods.

No mods. Brand new install of base game through Steam.

Dxdiag link: https://1drv.ms/t/s!AuNxEJnIN1Ys0hotNu_ ... a?e=vaQaFC

Appreciate the help!!

PS - I've also tried to load the game directly through Nvidia's program with the same result although the timeout takes longer with that method (maybe one minute?). Same end result.

The link you've provided requires a password to access. Please make the files publicly accessible.

Generally speaking, when the nothing happens like this, it's either AV software interfering or it's Steam itself preventing the game from loading. Try excluding the game folder from your AV software's protection, and also try restarting the Steam client from scratch (actually click Exit in the menu rather than just closing the Steam window).

Strange, I didn't set a password. Try this one and if it doesn't work, I'm not sure what to do other than copy and paste the whole dxdiag (will do that in another post).

I've already confirmed that my AV is allowing X4 through the firewall, but my security is also monitored by SentinelOne and a third party vendor. It would be a first for that service to stop me from playing a game but obviously it can't be ruled out - I'm not in control of that AV layer but I could have the vendor check it out (I think it's very low odds).

I've also completely shut down Steam by exiting multiple times - no luck.

According to your DXDiag's error list, it's InProcessClient64.dll that is causing the game not to start. That does indeed appear to be part of SentinelOne.

You're not the first to have issues with SentinelOne either.

Thanks for your help. It was the SentinelOne and even the experts can't figure out why it's a problem.
