How can I steer my ship with an xbox controller?
It worked fine yesterday when the controller was connected via an usb cable. Today I'm trying to have it connected via bluetooth, and with that, I'm getting two dots on the screen that move when trying to steer my ship, with the ship kinda following the dots. This is utterly annoying. I tried to change the settings and I don't see any way to turn off these dots. Sometimes these dots get stuck and the ship keeps spinning indefinitely and never catches up with them.
I can't steer like that. I need it to work the same as with the controller connected through the cable. The only difference is that the controller with the usb cable is an xbox one controller while the one connected via bluetooth is a newer version from an xbox series x.
What can I do to get it working?

Re: weird ship steering with xbox controller with two dots
I don't know the technicalities leading to this, but there may be something to try that might help. The 'two dots' are your weapon aiming points if you have 2 guns. Point your ship somewhere safe and fire a shot. The two dots should then centralise and stay there at which point your ship steering *may* make more sense. If that doesn't in itself help, maybe try toggling aim assist and see.

Re: weird ship steering with xbox controller with two dots
Hm, this is really strange ... First I disabled the steam input layer that simulates something when an xbox controller is being used, and it made things smoother.
Then I disabled the aim assist in the settings and it didn't make a difference. The dots are going way ahead of the targetting circle when turning, and I don't understand why/how they would do that. Why would the guns point that way rather than shooting at what's in the targetting circle? You won't be able to hit anything like that. Then since I fired a few shots at nothing, the dots now stay inside the targetting circle unless I strafe. When strafing, they remain in the center where the circle was.
How is that supposed to make sense?
Then I switched aim assist back on. I can't aim with an xbox controller at all, so it's required. It made no difference to the dots. Even after firing a few shots, the dots stay in the center unless I'm strafing.
At least now I can steer again, thanks

In the game, go to Settings, Controls and then try toggling 'Gamepad Mode' and if no joy then maybe the various Steering Options to see if anything resolves your issue properly.

I tried that and it didn't change anything. I don't mind the dots as long as I can steer
Now I can't even sell my cargo because according to the sell screen, there are 0 hull parts in the ship while its cargo display says there are 40 hull parts in the cargo.
This interface is nothing but totally confusing and the worst I've ever seen.

Please don't make unrelated issue reports in Tech Sp threads. I have dealt with that other problem here.

Sorry, I didn't realise that this topic probably doesn't belong here at all.
