[#1323][BUG] Plot mission critical data leak spawned in impossible-to-scan location

Version 6.20, all DLC except Kingdom End, English, Vanilla, Stranded start

In order to do the Casino research, I first had to build the gambling den and the “investigate the leisure activities of the various races”, which means getting close to habitation modules and then doing some other stuff.

After the Gambling den was built, I was doing some other missions, where I was docking at a Teladi Trading station (the one with the giant ring) in Grand Exchange III. I must have gotten close to the ring, which, guess what, has a habitation zone built in. This caused the mission to proceed to the next step, which required me to scan a data leak on the habitation module. I didn’t notice this at the time and continued doing other stuff, so I don’t have a save file from before this happened. When I came back to continue this mission, I found the data leak on the inside of the giant ring, just wedged at the edge between a grate and a hill from the habitation zone (you can fly in there, it has lakes and houses and stuff). Which is bad enough, but here’s the real problem: THE RING ROTATES! You can barely approach the leak with a ship, and with the rotation you also have to be moving, it’s impossible to keep the leak close long enough to scan. No chance in a spacesuit either, the leak just moves away from you.

With that, I’m effectively locked out of completing the casino research, as I can’t abort the mission. I tried approaching regular Teladi biomes and scanning data leaks there in hopes of getting a new spawn, but no dice. I assume destroying the station might get the mission to reset, but I really don’t want to do that.

Same issue as here - which might give some workaround tips. That linked thread has a dev tracking number and so the issue might be prevented in a future build (hopefully).
